Participants: Kookaberra (karma_k) Yanvir (RikProwley) ------------------------------------------
Kookaberra stole into the shop, a makeshift satchel under the small earth feien's arm. She knew, at any moment, she could catch utter hell from Talonfaust if he discovered she'd slipped out without telling him where she was going, but she simply could not sleep and hadn't wanted to go to the botheration of waking him to tell him. Hearing the talk of quests and ancients had intrigued her and she hoped to meet this Julius that she'd overheard Yeande and Talon speak of.
If he was truly as wise and powerful as they said, perhaps he could set her on the right track...perhaps -he- knew of a way she could prove that she was fine on her own. Then again, maybe he'd tell her to buck up and learn to deal with things...either way, it would come from a source she would not argue with.
She'd heard fleetingly about quests for special things as well...perhaps he would be willing to assign one to her to prove her independancy. She didn't have to go on it immediately, she supposed, but it would be nice to have such a thing in reserve for such a time when she felt ready. With as stifling as her home environment seemed to be getting, sadly, that day wasn't long-in-coming...yes, she was small, yes she was niave, but she honestly didn't see what there was to constantly be protected from.
She found the notice board and scanned it, chewing her lip thoughtfully as she searched for some clue of where she might be going...surely if the other feien visited Julius to inquire of such things, there would be directions?
Ah! There! She hovered up a bit further to read the notice regarding Julius and knitted her brow, put off by the simple phrase "emergency portal". ....this...really wasn't much of an emergency and at this hour, she didn't want to trouble anyone by making them think it might be.
Berra heaved a sigh and debated simply going home. It had been on a whim she'd come in the first place, maybe this was an indication she simply wasn't ready to take on a quest if she was so worried about bothering people that she couldn't even pass through a portal.
She'd likewise been under the impression there would be some travel involved...the satchel she'd brought contained a 'healthy' meal of two pieces of the twins' Halloween candy in case it was a long journey and she needed a sugary pick-me-up to stay awake. She hadn't known it would be just as easy as passing through a portal, making her satchel rather useless.
Just before leaving, however, she noticed another note tacked up, seemingly as an afterthought, below Julius's instructions and read it over.
"Yanvir...?" she said the name aloud to herself. Hmm...no portal involved there and...from the sound of it, the entryway was right within the shop. Perhaps she could travel down the tunnel indicated and see if he was still awake, and if not, she would simply leave. No harm done and no emergency bells set off. If he was listed alongside Julius, surely he must be nearly as great...?
Smiling a bit, she darted toward the back of the shop, searching the shelves until she found an opening in the wall. Peering inside and being met with only darkness, she hesitated, and then set her jaw with determination venturing in.

The mess that greeted her eyes was all-encompassing and awe-inspiring. The tunnel led to a room, a closet really, completely covered in toys and candy and trash. There was a large blue and white dollhouse on the floor in one corner and shelves lining three of the walls. Some foreign rap music was blasting from a CD player located on the nearest shelf.
The tunnel itself let out midway up the wall with a bit of a ledge for standing on. Suddenly, something went flying into the air from one of the shelves up out of sight, crashing into a pile of candy wrappers on the floor.
"CRISS! TABARNAC!" came a furious scream from above. the voice then began singing along with the foreign music coming from the CD player, but it was clear the words being sung by the high-pitched voice and the actual singer were not the same.

The din and mess was absolutely boggling. For a moment, Berra simply hovered where she was, slackjawed and oblivious to the brief blur of motion that had headed up to the shelf. Miss Karma threw an absolute fit if she left her plushies on the floor but this....oh dear, she had a feeling the foxcoon would simply twitch a little and cease to be if this sort of mess existed in her house.
At the sound of the foreign curses, she whirled in the direction of where she had thought the voice was coming from...the music made it hard to tell. She couldn't pinpoint it, but moved upward in the direction it seemed to eminate.
....she had no idea what the owner of the voice was saying, but she hoped they were happy exclamations, at least, and that she hadn't come at a bad time.

The top shelf on the left side gave a small shake as a form scarcely bigger than Berra's own hopped up and down in time to the music. "YA! Yovoingskin gouda UNFIN MAUDE!"

For a moment, much as she had in regard to the mess and noise, Berra could do little more than stare. Was this Yanvir, she wondered? Whoever it was, he certainly enjoyed his music. It wasn't to her taste, but she was almost as bad about 80's rock.
She bit back the urge to giggle, really not having expected this sort of behavior from an ancient, but also somewhat relieved. With the way Talon and Yeande had talked of Julius, she'd been certain all the ancients were regal, god-like beings.
The red-and-white earth feien was silent a moment more, watching him dance, before she plucked up her courage and moved forward, landing on the shelf a polite distance away so he wouldn't trip over her.
"Uhm...hi there!" she greeted, her polite greeting all-but-completely drowned out by the blare of the music.

The little feien whipped about, jumped into the air, and screamed with all his might. The little wings on his wrists fluttered madly. "YOU HELL SCARE YANVIR!" the black, light green, and white feien shouted at her, trembling.

Berra gave a startled yelp and hopped backwards, eyes wide and rather 'hell scared' herself at his sudden outburst. "Sorry! I'm sorry!" she said, wincing. "I didn't mean to!"

Yanvir panted, clutched as his chest, and slowly drifted back down to the shelf. He looked at Berra warily with his green and pink eyes. "Who you? What you want? You not know knocking??"

A little wary that he might explode at her again, Berra, nonetheless, tried to salvage the situation and unshouldered her satchel, setting it down. "My name's Kookaberra." she introduced herself politely, her ears folding apologetically. "I'm sorry for barging in on you, Mister Yanvir, I just didn't think you could hear me with your music up so loud."
She bit her lip and decided the sooner she got to the point of her coming, the sooner he could get back to his dancing and she could get home before Talon found her gone. "If its not too much trouble, I came to ask about a quest...?" she asked, inwardly flinching. Were you allowed to be that forward with ancients, she wondered?

"AHHHHHHHH," Yanvir suddenly boomed, producing a noise several time too large for his body. He rubbed his hands together and grinned. "You come right place! Yanvir is always having quests. But need pay fee. you bring Yanvir fee, yes?" His grin widened, little fangs glinting menacingly in the odd lighting of the room.

Fee? Uh oh...she hadn't known she'd have to pay...! That's what she got for not looking into things better, she thought, giving herself a swift mental kick.
"Uhm..." she faltered, blinking owlishly at the wild-eyed feien before her. Biting her lip, she reached for the satchel. What did he want to be paid with, she wondered? Gold? Silver? More importantly, what did she have with her...? Certainly nothing deserving of an ancient.
She turned the satchel inside-out, her two pieces of halloween candy, one of Globin's molted feathers, and a small scattering of colorful tube-like perler beads scattering out on the shelf as felt her heart sink a bit. She'd forgotten she'd been using it for sorting her beads yesterday, and she really should have checked to make sure the satchel was empty before making use of it.
She supposed it was worth a try as she looked up to Yanvir, awaiting his assessment. If worse came to worse, with the fact he'd want a fee in mind, she could come back later better-prepared.

"Ah, yes, this is good!" exclaimed Yanvir, dropping into a crouch so he could collect the items. He went for the Halloween candy first. "Throw in bag and you have deal." He started scurrying after the rolling beads. For every two he managed to pick up he seemed to drop three, eventually ending up with half the beads cradled in his arms and the other half on the floor below.

"Really??" Berra asked, beaming. And he wanted the satchel too...? She supposed that was all right. She could always make herself another, after all. "Deal!" she happily agreed, offering out the satchel to Yanvir, holding it open for him slightly so that he could drop the beads inside if he wished before taking it, noting his difficulty chasing them down.

He did so, managing to realize that this was in fact a good idea being presented to him, and stuck his head into the satchel after the beads. "Helloooo! It is dark in here!" he squealed. "Where go payment? IT ALL DARK!"

Berra, unable to help herself, quirked a brow at his odd behavior and tried to decide whether he was being serious or not. And if he WAS being serious, this was one of those moments where you either became very frightened or laughed.
Choosing the medium between the two, she smiled a bit awkwardly and reached down to jostle the lower part of the satchel so the beads would rattle together and assure him they were still there without her having to say so.
....maybe he -was- just playing, after all. Then again, something about him reminded her very much of Ankou...
