I just recently met this guy who is my grandpas caretaker at this retirement home. He's Gay, a female impersonator and one of the COOLEST people i've ever met.
Last weekend he was assaulted by a man who lives by the apartments.
Our town... a little redneck hick town FULL of people who are racist, sexist, prejudice... and those people who express it openly don't usually get convicted.
his assaulter is the son of the Sheriff. He got off easy. in fact he didn't even get sentenced.
I want to fight it. help!

Well... report it to whoever has control over the sheriff? If they don't listen, goto their boss and so on until someone takes notice?
Sorry, I'm not much help. sweatdrop And feel free to swear in here, I don't think anyone minds. 3nodding

A lot of that crap happens in this town its really easy for people to get away with s**t like that... I want to put a stop to that... especially crimes against LGBT. you know? like a revolutionaryu change in this area. even though i might as well go out and get myself shot right now. its literally that bad. I want to change it sooner than it'll take for them all to die off. wink

What state are you in? Because I know that a couple states count anti-GLBT rimes as hate crimes, including New York. If you live in one of the red states, you're most likely SoL.

When all else fails, go to the media. Bring up the information, make people aware. Justice must be served, and people in power have no authority to disrupt fair and balanced trials. This is probably why I'm opposed to judicial immunity.

Tell the guy to sue. If he loses, appeal on the condition of prejudice and the guy getting special treatment due to the fact he is the sheriffs(sp?) son. It will go up the court system and you can probably keep appealing until it gets somewhere that can help like the state supreme court or something

sure there is... but There's nothing i can do until May at least.
If he gets off easy... I will do something.

I'm finding it'd be easier now that i'm out to my parents to do stuff like GSA meetings and protests and stuff... I'm finding it to be very beneficial. rolleyes
