He wasn't one-hundred percent... sure, really. Over the past few weeks Sauda was getting bigger and bigger. Her stomach was bloated out. He was afraid that if he asked her about it, she might take it as an insult. He did doubt it, but if he was correct, then whatever he meant towards a question could redirect as an insult. He didn't want to hit nerve if she did burst with him.
But she was happiest to be. Oblivious most of the time, and enjoying his company overall. She didn't seem to take notice to the unusual changes. Nor did she take notice to all the food she ate, or the recent morning sickness she developed. He was worried, but the only thing he did have in mind was of that one word.
Pregnant.
She was pregnant. Babies were growing in her tummy, and by the looks of it they were coming soon. He was growing scared. The time was coming to tell her that she was expecting puppies. He should have told her earlier, but would anyone blame him? He certainly didn't want to be blown at, if it was a possibility.
He pawed at a patch of grass, waiting for her as he gritted his teeth nervously. He just wondered how he'd say it. Being so blunt, he normally went truthful above everything else. He wouldn't lie once without saying the truth and how he felt straight out, but in this situation; could rephrasing hurt?
He hoped not.
Sauda indeed was fat, or rather had many things in her belly, or even one big one. she didn't notice. She had no clue why she was hungry alot all of the sudden, or why she insisted to go out and hack up a lung every once in a while. She just thought she had a cold, or the flu. She also felt like taking a walk every day now, which she was now coming back from. She had a smile on her face, without a care in the world.
She saw Letladika in her view now. "Letlad" She called out as she started moving faster, though not in a run, she didn't know why, but she didn't want to run. She smiled at him as she got more towards him. "Isn't today just a great day? It's so pretty" It was going from winter into spring now, and it was becoming very nice. She always loved the warmer weather.
Letladika watched as Sauda came toward him while his stomach churned wildly and his eyes went wild. How was he going to say it? Wondering how she was going to react he stayed silent, looking at her with an almost puppy dog look in his eyes as his claws dug into the ground more. Like before when they were in the cave many moons ago, grieving for Tsotsi, his throat constricted as he felt himself choking in embarrassment and even fear, his head resting on his shoulders. This defiantly might worry her. He couldn't afford that, really, he never liked to worry Sauda whenever he acted like this.
Carefully, calmly, he breathed out slowly as he looked down at the ground. "Hey Sauda," he looked up at her slowly as his eyes landed on her belly. He found himself going back into the state he was just a few moments ago, but he refrained himself from going back. No need to worry her now, no need. "yes, it's a wonderful day indeed." He nodded quickly.
Sauda worried about a lot of things, though today was different. Today seemed good. She somehow knew that Tostsi was going to be ok, and that everything would be just fine. She smiled at him. "How are you? Your looking great" She told him with a smile. She still didn't notice that she wasn't exactly, what was it..... skinny? She did feel sharp pains once in a while in her belly, but she wasn't sure what it was. She'd sure it'd pass after a few weeks, or something. "What?" She asked him as he was looking at her. She couldn't help but ask.
If Sauda really knew how Letladika was feeling, than she wouldn't have spoken about how he was great. Slowly looking at her, he nodded his head a little as his eyes kept track of the sight of her stomach. "I'm doing well," his voice wavered. He didn't finish that sentence though since she spoke up once more, and his entire body tensed with worry. "Sauda, are you alright? I mean, have you felt dizzy or have been craving something?"
"I'm fine, Letladika.... Why? Do I look ok? I mean... No I haven't been? Are you ok?" He was acting weird and she couldn't understand why. Of course, she still didn't get that she was caring something in her belly. She felt stuff move in there, she just never put two and two together. She really wasn't too smart about some things. She smiled at him. "I'm very perfectly fine.... Never felt better." Apart from her having recent back aches, she was perfectly fine.
Sauda was fine.. Letladika needed to take a double take to understand what she was saying. Of course! She was in the early stages of pregnancy so she wouldn't be experiencing the obvious symptoms yet. Though her belly was another thing, he was more convinced that she was pregnant. There wasn't any other explanation, after all.
"That's good, that's good." He was trying to convince himself more than her, really. A child, a pup. Being a father was something he wondered if he could take. Flicking his tail to his side he picked himself up and nuzzled her.
She seemed to glow more radiant then normal, but she wouldn't notice that either. She couldn't see herself. "Is there something I should know?" She asked him. Curious of his..... curiosity about her. Keep asking her certain things that she was starting to think something was up. Though, she didn't know that something was good. She was starting to think it was bad. "Do I look sick?" She asked him kinda getting a little scared.
This was great.
Mentally, he cursed him. Letladika should have picked his words out more carefully. Never did he want to worry her, or make her feel dejected. Now look at him! He was picking all the wrong words and making her probably feel like that. His ears fell back and he backed away from her. Should he? He shook his head cautiously to himself as his mind wagged war against him. How would she react to such news? Be happy? Sad? Oh, he hoped she would be happy.
He turned back towards her and made a smile grow on his maw as best as he could. Taking a step towards her, he started. "Sauda, I want to know something," he said. "and I want to know if you are ready for this."
He defiantly hoped she was.
"Ready for what? Letladika... Your scaring me... What's wrong?" She asked him looking at him with a worried face. She started to look at herself. Nothing looked wrong. Sure she looked a bit fatter... Was that it? Did he not like that she was getting fat in the belly area? Sure she'd never gotten fat or over ate. Except for Lately... Always hungry, she felt at least. She looked back at him. "Am..... am I dieing?" she asked him. Surely.... She'd know if she was dieing right?
Letladika nearly hit the floor as she questioned him. His face contorted into quick anger as he felt a certain protectiveness envelope him. "You are not dieing!" He said clearly as his eyes flashed lovingly at her. She was not dieing, she was not. He shook his head several times. "Sauda," breathing hitched, he paused. "Sauda, your pregnant."
Everything froze in that moment. He knew she was. She needed to know, and he realized that he did not mind if she reacted horribly; he loved her and would not be afraid.
He would not be afraid.
She felt a wave of relief flow threw her. Good, she knew she wasn't dieing... but she had to ask just to make sure. Her heart was still slightly racing from that, though what she heard next kinda made sense in a way.... as well it kinda was unbelievable. "What.... I.... You.... Me? Yours?" Well of course it was his... She hadn't been with anyone else. "Well, Yes.. yours! Really? I knew I felt a little different" She didn't know how to act to it. She always wanted kids! This was exciting. She beamed at Letladika. "Oh! What if we have many of them?" She asked him happily. She had just met her dad and her half brother. Found out she had two sisters and a mother and now this! This was so great!
Letladika was a little shocked at her reaction, though it quickly faded as he beamed happily back at her. The realization that he was going to be a father came down on him like an angel. He liked it. "However many we have," he said and nuzzled up against her. "We'll always be happy. I promise, no matter what hardships we go through, I'll always love you." he meant it, he really did. Sauda made his life bounce before him. He never had felt this happy before.
The day was so good, though strange. She never thought she'd have kids so soon. Yet was it? She wasn't sure. Everything happened for a reason, and maybe this reason was to bring everything right back into the world. She always wanted kids especially after what happened a while ago. Though, she didn't let that destroy her good mood. "I hope we have a girl and a boy" She told him happily. "I mean... don't you? Twins... Twins would be very cute" She couldn't help but think on what more they could have. Maybe one who looked just like their father just with some of her color and markings.
Whatever the reason, Letladika was happy. His tail flicked happily as he decided that sitting down was the best idea before he fell over flat, as the idea of twins filled him with a joy and fear he had never felt before. Twins? He shook his head in disbelief as he gazed at her stomach, wondering exactly how many they would have in their lives. The months that would come would be exceptionally unbelievable; he never thought that he would go through this part of his life with the sadness that filled him so many months ago. "I suppose twins would be cute," head nodded in agreement as he thought it over once more. Well, they would be cute, indeed.
His thoughts drifted to what they would look like. Maybe they would look like her, with his colors and her eyes. He shivered at the thought as his tail flicked to his side. This was, indeed, the happiest day of his life. He could not get over it.
"Though, I think twins have to come in families that have already have twins somewhere in their family." Though she wasn't sure if that was true or not, she was just thinking and perhaps trying to guess how many was in there. One for sure, well of course one for sure. But maybe two? She didn't seem that fat, at least not fat enough for her to realize that she was pregnant. She smile sweetly at him. " Doesn't matter... I'm just happy to be with you, and start a family" She sand and nuzzled him affectionately, as she moved closer to him. She was happier then anyone could ever see her.
End.
