Okay, so I believe in the paranormal and find it all to be incredibly entertaining and a little creepy. It flips me out a little, but I've found an interesting website.
Turns out EVP ghosts have a sense of humor. You've got irritated responses, such as "Jerk", or "You fouled up!" And little kids saying "Whatcha got there?" and an old soldier in a room full of recording equipment and cameras saying "I ain't never seen nothing like this before" and even responses to questions. 'What did that last EVP say? I can't understand it.' "It says Arthur." Some will even joke with them or laugh, such as one that called out 'marco polo' when an investigator asked who was present. Another laughed like an adorably dead dork at a joke an investigator was telling the others.
Here's the website, it's very interesting. At least look through a little bit :] Jeepers Creepers, Batman!
EDIT: EVP is Electronic Voice Phenomena. Meaning ghost voices recorded on tape that were not heard outside of it. Some of them are very hard to understands... others are very, very clear.

You were pwned by a ghost. That's awesome. I love EVP, it makes ghosts seem like they're people, or at least the personalities left over from people, and it makes them seem less unknown.
Shana: What cases do you know of where their sense of humor is strongly exhibited outside of EVP? I'd really like to know :D!

I am not a huge fan of EVP. Certainly, I am convinced that it works, but I doubt that it works the way that people think it does. I value the tried and true methods of detection in occultism. Technology seems too fallable in certain fields, and there honestly is no way of truly knowing if the entity or entities emitting the voices in such a recording are honestly ghosts, or something else, even something sinister. It is kinda like my beef with real ouija boards and other divination techniques that depend on a nearby spirit source. Sure, they work, but are they working the way that you think they are? What is its potential to backfire, how reliable is it, and what are its potential hidden dangers? Maybe I just play it too safe...

*nods* Hauntings themselves could be considered, in some cases, a form of pranksters in the paranormal having some fun.
Lila: That makes sense. Besides, you should be cautious when you're working with the unknown.

There is something about EVP and other means of electronic detection (other than photographs) that seems to always strike a chord with me, like it shouldn't happen. Beyond even the laws of physics, I feel like there's always this resonance of negativity.
I was talking about it with my boyfriend, who has experimented with EVP and closed circuit means of detection. He said that when he used to do it, he felt almost the exact same feeling that one gets when someone knows that something one is doing is "wrong", and only does it as long as they don't get caught. I somewhat agree with him.

I dunno if I would describe it as you have, but I can certainly see why you'd feel like that.
@Grunt: XD A lot of them are funny.

I have a bunch of EVPs on my computer of ones I've personally caught in my house.
The spirits on the tape (at least the ones I have) like to use to the opportunity to speak. It's kind of funny actually:
For instance, I was talking to a friend while it was recording and you could hear a "Shh! Shh! Be quiet!"
I've also heard my name (along with several family members) being spoken.
...I really need to get that page up. I am teh suck.

My own house isn't haunted, but I really think it's a bit too new for that. No one's kicked the bucket here and there isn't a lot of weird stuff happening around the area, so I'm screwed out of paranormal pee-your-pants experiences :B

It's only had 1 or 2 previous owners. Age doesn't decide how haunted your house can be. Your house can become haunted just bringing a weird piece of furniture in.. or doing things that invite them (People say ouija boards invite them as well) In fact, everytime I get a really understandable EVP, I am using a Ouija Board... But like I said, they usually invite things in and if you're not careful, you can invite something in you didn't mean too..

To be honest, half our crap is new and the rest of it is garage-sale items. So I guess it's a possibility. I dunno. The closest to 'haunted' my house has ever come is that my alarm clock decides on it's own whether or not it wants to go off and our radios play a bit after they've been turned off, but those are explainable xP
