Long time fan of lolita, first time poster..
Sorry if this seems like stupid topic. xD But I have been thinking a lot lately that I want to quit lolita alltogether. I never really was one to actually wear it, mostly just admire it. But I know now that I just sorta look stupid in it. ninja
I don't really have many pieces in my wardrobe, just: -Btssb Novala cutsew -Btssb heart buckel mary janes -Btssb blue skirt -Metamorphose black lucky pack blouse
I've never really worn any of it, it just basically sits in my closet. I think my problem is that I don't have anything that matches. (I would never wear any of that together, I just sorta collected them over time) I need a white blouse and white socks. I just don't want to spend any money on something that I won't end up wearing. I think I may have just lost interest in it. It's difficult to get opnions from my family, my mother thinks I should just keep it, my father doesn't really care either way.
Opinions? Should I just sell everything off? (Except the Baby shoes xD I want to keep em')
Is this happening to anyone else?

I'm about to do the same thing with my stuff.
I love the fashion to death, and I always will, I just don't desire dressing up as much as I used to.
It will be a sad parting, but if you have an real brand stuff, you can sell it for a lot. I look at most of it now as impulse buys- and they were quite expensive for me too. I feel guilty with everything just sitting in my closet, and I definitely am in need of money right now... u.u
I say that if you are absolutely sure you'll probably never wear any of the items again, selling it would probably get the guilt off your chest, if you feel the same way I do.
*hug* Best wishes for you. xD

Theres two methods to fashion: -Wear whatever you like, no matter how it looks on you.
-Wear whatever flatters you
I can understand either route. If you've found out the latter is for you than go for it! As I'm getting older I'm starting to go down that road too. *sigh* sweatdrop

If you really think that it's not for you then no use letting good clothes go to waste. you know someone else would love to add them to a collection. We'd all like to see what you've got.

I love the skirt, I just want a really nice blouse to go with it, nothing cheap. I'm willing to buy a white Babyssb or Metamorphose blouse, I just want to make sure I will actually wear it. D:

Yesssss.... sell all your things to meeeeee..... ninja
Err, J/k. I think that a lot of times clothes that you may not wear anymore can still have sentimental value, and if you feel these might you should definatly hang on to them. If not, selling them would be a good way to make a lot of money back. I do think you should really think about it before making a decision, though, because it would suck to sell it all and then decide you DO want it! I'd imagine some of it would be hard to get back!

Ah, I'd say I'm the exact opposite currently. I need more Loli-esque. Lolita is like my casual wear.
I'm sure you'll have many offers. Especially if its from an authentic company.
I do suggest keeping at least two pieces. Even if you don't wear them often, it's a classic memory. If you've ever owned a Lolita piece, it'd be a shame not to keep something of it.

the brand pieces you can sell on Ebay and get a lot from them, but I think you should sell them cheaper than normal so that the poor dollies can have a chance at brand stuffs. biggrin

I don't think you should give up. Unless you've really completely lost interest and your lolita things are just like regular clothes to you now. And if they are, you may like the fashion again in the future and be sad that you sold everything. I think you should buy the things you need. I don't even own anything so I guess I'm not one to give advice. But I hope this helped somehow, if it makes any sense at all. Your clothes probably don't really look stupid on you... wink

Oh, another thing I thought of yesterday is that you should keep your clothes for like, a year, and if you don't get the urge to wear them again in that time, you should sell them. ^_^

I want to thank everyone for the advice. biggrin I really appreciate what everyone has said. I don't think I am going to quit on lolita, I just need to get something that will be more flattering to me. I'm thinking about buying a VM BETH dress (the madras check one) and possibly the meta chandelier skirt and shirt. Or possibly the Meta poodle jsk. I can't really decide yet Hehe.

^^ i like your taste (just but chandelier skirt + shirt a while ago) and what i meant by my previous comment is that you could use a shirt you already have to predict how it would look with a nice blouse and thus have more info to base ur decision off of.
