It was no good.

Uri had been sulking for a long time now. At first he'd been to worried about his 'daughter-figure' Kari leaving to start a life elsewhere. With a lover and that just invited heartbreak for his darling. With a lion lover and that just begged for scorn from less understanding creatures. What if something happened to his poor baby gal....

Today he'd woke and struck a dramatic, sorrow filled pose rather than simply moping about. By mid-morning, he'd cleaned his fur until it shone and he needed a drink for his exhausted tongue's sake. At least he'd looked goooood when he went for said drink.

And now for the first time in a long while, he was padding along patrolling. As he should have been.

The white lioness was merely seekign a watering hole to get a drink from, a while ago, she had gotten a kill, the first meal she'd been able to enjoy and not have to run from in some time. Her paws were tinted pink from the blood, but her maw was liked clean. Pink, hunter like eyes scanned the area between her and the watering hole. So far she saw nothing, but she could smell cheetah's in this area.

Her ears perked as she heard footsteps of someone, they were just barely audiable, but Dimu had trained ears, and knew the sound of even hunters steps, no matter how great they be. She licked her maw once and turned her head to gaze around. Maybe a cheetah had smelt her, and was coming to protect their territory. Dimu half hoped it was someone socialable, she had never met a cheetah before, and was looking forward to such an encouter.

Uri caught the scent of a lionness on the breeze. He hadn't patrolled in such a long while that this area was no longer marked as his by more than a very faint, lingering musk in a few places. Technically though, he was part of the coalition... these were border lands, his for as long as he could hold and he should protect them.

Just how one cheetah was supposed to do this against the larger carnivores had never been fully explained to him. Was he supposed to call for the males in the neighbouring Duma'bara territories...? Oh bother. Maybe she'd just be friendly? That would be best. Quickly turning his head to cast a glace ove himself - still looking good! - he steeled himself. Ready to run and raise the alarm or to charm.

"Good morning."

The lioness blinked and gazed at the cheetah for a moment, analyzing him, and showing he wanted to fight no more then she. She gave a friendly smile and turned to face her body to him, knowing body language was always important.

"Hello... I hope I am not intruding... I just was passing through... and saw the watering hole ahead..."

She hoped he would be generous like the wild dog and allow her to sit and chat for a little while It had been a few boring and loney days travel from the last place she had spoken to someone. With her rose hued eyes, she sized him up one last time. And held in a giggle at how well kept his coat was, he must be a vain one to groom himself so vigerously.

Glorious! She was chatty, friendly and while in need of a bit of a groom, very pretty. Such bright eyes and pure white fur - not until the spots of his own lovely pelt. The perfect sort of creature to run into during a fine morning stroll. Uri corrected his thoughts. Not a stroll, a patrol. There was work to be done.

"Not intruding, though you're on the edge of the cheetah lands, my friend. Feel free to wander the edges along this stretch or drink from this waterhole, but further in is the females area and ....well, you know how mothers are when there are cubs to protect." It started off an offical sounding statement, but ended up more friendly, with a charming smile thrown in for good measure.

"I'm, glad to run into such a social creature... now, I am M'Dimu... may I know you're name?"
She said as she turned and started to walk to the waters edge, knowing he would follow to chat a while. So these were cheetah lands. Dimu would be careful not to cut through as she originally intended.

As she reached the shore, she wet her front paws and licked them until they were white like the rest of her coat. She wasnt as well groomed as he, but she was decent considering she tried to groom herslef even a little between meals, and sleep.

"So this is you're area to patrol? Are you alone, or do you have a campion with you?"
She asked, sitting by the waters edge, her white tail curled around her legs and her green tasle curled the opposite way.

"Of course. My name is Uri...it's good to meet you."

He followed, taking dainty steps down to the waters edge so as not to sink his feet into the mud or dirty them too badly. It was not as feminine a move as it sounds, just a bit graceful for simply getting a drink. And there was no way to tell that he checked his reflection as he drank to calm the faint worry she'd find him a freak. After all, white with green markings and pink eyes wasn't exactly normal, not in the lands he'd been born in. Pretty though, undoubtedly.

"This is my own small territory, yes. And no, no companion for me yet. Do you travel alone, M'dimu?" He lifted his head to reply, ears moving towards her - it's always good to let a lady know you're listening.

The lioness had seen so many odd coats, she only thought common ones were odd, like seeing two different creatures with the same colors and patturns, so a darkly coated cheetah, seemed normal if not casual to her. As he spoke, she turned her head and her ears to him. So this was his little part o the territory to guard. So the rumours of the coilition where remotely true, females lived inward and mainly the males lived on the outskirts, patrolling ever so often...

"Ever since I remember, I have been by my self... see many wonderful things though, and met many wonderful creatures..."
So he was alone like her. Did he enjoy being an island, or did he thirst for the company of others. Dimu enjoyed being alone, but from tiem to time, she wanted nothign more then to sit down and have a nice chat with an interesting creature, and see what their life was like.

"So do you get visitors often Uri?"
She asked gently, testing out his name. It wasn't a hard name, she rather likes it, short and sweet. Unlike hers which occassionally was difficlt to roll off the tongue, with the m and the d being connected, instead of divivded by a vowel.

"No, not often."

He moved back from the water, coming around to stand nearer to this rare guest. Only Kari, the pink cheetah he'd adored and seen grow from a cub into a beautiful adult, had come visiting more than once. It caused a momentary pang to think of her again and Uri had to banish thoughts of how she was and where from his mind once more. No more moping. Besides, he had a lovely lady to entertain...

"I've not travelled in a long while, trying to make a home here, though I well recall how life seemed an adventure out there." Uri smiled one of his 'charming' smiles and tucked his tail about his legs in an elegant fashion.

"I do not believe I could live in one place too long... the last time I tried to settle down and make myself a permanent, or atleast, semi-permanent home, I ended up not being able to handle it... and ran off... I lasted merely a few weeks..."
She did not do it for the adventure, if she wanted, she could make advanture where ever she may be, oh no, this was somethign she was grown into. As she had tld that rohue lion she met a while ago, she was born under a wandering star. She couldn't stay in one place more then a couple of weeks. No matter if she made friends there, or even met someone.

"I guess I've enver found a reason to stay in one place... it seems no matter where I go, I'm home. So, I just follow the skies, and hope I do not run into trouble with my travels... so when did you use to travel, and why?"
She asked with a smile. This male was very interesting indeed, everything he did was elegant, and charming. Dimu felt a small spark of attraction, and maybe envy for Uri.

"I've only been settled once before, in the land of my birth - 'under a cursed star'." He changed the pitch and tone of his voice to give it a feminine effect, perhaps his mothers, and raised a paw to breast as if in despair. Uri played down how hurt he'd been as a youngster, how paranoid and pained it made him even now. Even in a land where you could be bright blue with yellow stripes, he'd always feel a freak.

"Everyone looked identical there, always golden or brown...let's just say that my pelt was beyond unusual and thus, hated. I travelled to get away from that place at first." Why he was telling her the truth was beyond Uri. He usually didn't bother to share his background with anyone. Perhaps he wanted to impress this confident and striking female, who could make her home anywhere and thrive.

"Maybe you were born under a shooting star and so will always wander."
PostPosted: Thu Mar 15, 2007 1:47 pm

"Do not call it a cursed star.. perhaps you were born under one of the most lovely stars in the sky... I may not have seen amny a cheetah, but I have of lions, and I always enjoy the "odd" ones of the bunch, more thne those who all look the same... as far as I see it, Uri, you have the most lovely coat... I've never seen such a dark coat with white spots..."
She said sincerly. She did not want him to feel different, she thought people should be praised for individuality, for with out it, where would one be? One would be jsut another golden pelt among many many others, with no idividuality, apart from maybe a bit of personality difference...

"I say those with similar pelts are cursed, unless they are similar by heritage... all gold and brown... it seems you must have been bored looking at such similar pelts all day long... and perhaps, my shooting star still flies through the night sky... but I hope I can take residence somewhere... yet be able to travel freely where I wish..."
Dimu wasn't a secretive person, if you asked her about her feelings on things she would tell you, with out thinking about how you would dissagree, or tell her down for her idea's. Her past was quite boring, ahving little adventure, but much landscape. She had travels through marshes, deserts, jungles, savahna's... She was a book to be read, though some things she kept secret but those where unimportant things, thing one would not ever bring up in a polite conversation.

'One of the most lovely stars in the sky' ?

"That's very flattering...You have a beautiful way of speaking, M'Dimu, to match your loveliness. I can't imagine you in a more mundane brown colour at all." Since his vow to love himself if no one else would, flattery was a way to get everywhere with Uri. He craved positive responses to his actions and looks like an addict needs a fix. His smile widened, and the ringed tip of his tail twitched, appreciative. The white was glorious, on her pelt just like on his.

"Whenever your star passes over the heavens near Duma'Bara, our cheetah lands, you can find a safe place to rest here. So long as you don't go in the other territories, I can't see why anyone would mind. I can provide that much hospitality at least."
PostPosted: Thu Mar 15, 2007 2:27 pm

"I appreciate your offer... I may stick around today, maybe stay the night... I do not know how close the next water scourse is... and thank you... I think I look rather plain, but I do not complain... I am who I am, and my pelt tells my story.."
Dimu had one more place to come to if she ever needed. She was apreciative of the hospitality this cheetah offered, and was glad she could have intelligent conversation, with a lovely creature like him. She knew if she left, she would return. She didn't know why, or when, but she knew she'd be back here to visit Uri again.

"Well... why don't you give me the grand tour of your territory... it's quite a lovley little spot you have..."
She said uncurling her tail from around her legs, and standing up, extending her claws a bit to stretched out her forearms.

"I know where the next decent waterwhole is...a days walk from here towards where the sunsets. For there, you're almost in Prideland territory and everything there is lush."

Uri purred and got to his feet. He waited while his new companion stretched and when she was ready, started to walk towards the nearest 'feature' of his own particular area. A acacia tree, complete with a small patch of bush and undergrowth that provided reasonable shade. When the grasslands had so few decent trees - the greatest being the huge tree when the cheetahs held their meetings - he'd been pleased to find his own designated area contained one. Even if it was scrawny.

From there it was just a pleasant stroll around grassland. Perfect for talking while wandering.
