I did this one before the New Year... I think in December but I can't recall exactly when. I used the canvas board and it's 16x20. I was playing with texture and what would happen if you goop on a lot of paint. You make a BIG mess, obviously. I even took some sandpaper to it. I was trying to see if I could fade away the tail end of the body. the tail was covered over in blue and green (it's no longer visible but it was painted).

So it became clear I needed to practice more with acrylic. The following three were done on New Year's Eve when I was working at the art gallery and needed something to do. I thought I would experiment with canvas paper... which is embossed to give a canvas texture to paper:
Again with the orange bodies... the colors I brought that day were light blue, dark green, yellow, orange and brown:

I was half listening to the children's art class going on at the back of the art gallery... and the instructor was mentioning you could use acrylics like watercolor... and she was having them draw dragons so I drew a bunny (both Chinese Zodiac animals):

And I got really bored so I drew the hills outside the window which were just beginning to turn green after the little bit of rain we had:

So I haven't felt much like using acrylic again until last Saturday when I picked up a 6x8 inch canvas board and painted my mood (I was in a bad mood):

And on Sunday I was back at the gallery for a reception for the "artist of the month" and I noticed that she used a lot of acrylics... and so for the past couple of days I worked on this... yes... my unicorns look like mutant deer with no lower jaw (hippie mode: they feed on wind, man!). It's another 16x20 inch canvas board (I have one left, because they came in a 3 pack):

What I've learned...
Canvas Paper is interesting to work with.
I need a smoother surface if I want to do "animal fur" texture.
I think I want to try either smooth "portrait canvas" or gesso masonite to see if I can get detailed texture.
I don't have nearly enough to have a full gallery exhibit of my own... but I'm getting there. wink
