What are your opinion of war in history? I personally think having a war isn't benifical to the world. I think it would be better if we all just talked out problems between nations instead of starting a war because you don't like somethng.
I know what I'm saying is a little idealistic, but it may prevent innocent lives being destroyed by pointless wars. What are better ways to end problems in today's wars?

Well that's simple. Complete isolationism. That is the only way we would ever stop conflict.

All problems cannot be resolved thru talking it out. Some people dont want to talk to you, all they want is to kill you because of who you are or what you stand for. To prevent all problems: Stand for nothing and be like everyone else. Dont be an individual, and since your a woman, dont speak unless spoken to. Then we wont have problems.

war is only put in place because of greed, pride, and power. if you look at all the wars that have happened and under stand the reasons why then you would see that thats the only reason wars take place. but no one ever learns that. now do they.

That is very true. History is bound to repeat itself.

So why don't we learn from history and stop it all together. Will it take the destruction of the entire world, to make people get along.

That's the point. Countries wil never get along, its not profitable. We succeed only in the failure of others.

The U.S only seems to get mixed up in things if they get something from it. I think complete isolation is a bad idea. Doesn't America get alot of things from China, Japan, and other countries. If we isolate ourselves won't we have to cut off trade, causing another depression like in the 1930s.

True, that is why countries go to war, industry makes millions off of it, and we gain more than we lose. Complete isolationism IS a bad idea, for it will depress us far worse than in the 1930s under President Hoover. One just has to pick the lesser of two evils: War for money, or peace for the people.

Wars are double sided coins. They have multiple pros and cons. We just need to make sure that wars, like everything else, are had in moderation. xp

Hokay....My opinion on wars is that they are kind of the only way that countries can do to prove a point ,a necessary evil as it were. (kind of like when your a kid and your doing something wrong and your mom punishes you for it, so you'll learn to become a structured person.) Nobody can get along without conflict. There are so many people that would like for everything to be equal, and live life as if it were a Utopia. But then if every thing were to be equal then our society would go no where, because if we all had to be equal nobody would be smarter than anyone else, everyone would have to do everything the same ,we'd all have to have the same morals and religion, there most likely wouldn't be jobs due to the fact we wouldn't be able to have money... To be all equal- so on and so forth. People are just too different to all get along. ~ The book Anthem by Ayn Rand would be a good book to read on the note of this subject, if you haven't already read it that is...lol It is very good and makes you think too. 3nodding

Now for the pacifist to have her say.
Based on the previous statement, I'm sure you can guess at what I'm going to say next. No, war should never be used, under anycircumstances! It never should have been used in the past, and it should not be used now. Do you know what wars are? They're a bunch of big head honchos sending out their troops to fight each other for the benefit of none.
That's right. None. The winners don't benefit, the losers don't benefit, and all it brings is destruction. And it's not all even about which side wins and which side loses. People die in wars! Men and women with families they'd like to go home to have everything taken away from them. Whole nations are torn apart, whole cities are destroyed, thousands of years of history is lost in the rubble.
Why would we need to fight? Ever?
I suppose I'll forestall the opposition's main argument. World War II is brought up quite frequently, as Hitler is busy killing Jews at the time. But do you want to know what? Had World War I not been fought, World War II would not have either. WWII was not about Hitler killing the Jews! It was about Hitler and Stalin jointly invading Poland (which, consequentially, had nothing to do with killing Jews) and the Japanese attacking various locales.
Note that this all started with certain nations deciding that they wanted violence. Unnecessary violence, over wanting to obtain more land mass. Doesn't that sound familiar, all you US citizens who are shocked that Germany could presume to want more land? Why the land mass? Power. Sheer egotism.
Unnecessary. End of story. Goodnight.

Yes...war is bad...however...I think that if all good people refused to go to war because they know it is bad, other people who do not have the same morals would be in power. There would not be as good a quality of life. I think a lot of wars in the past have happened because the good people would no longer accept what was being done to them, and war was the only way of stopping it. Yes...I think war is bad...but I think that sometimes war is necessary because there are just bad people in this world. The only way to completely stop war is to fill the world with people that have the same morals. I don't think we will ever accomplish this.
