Hidious. That's how I feel. It sounds so shallow but they really get me down. I would have never complained about the way I looked before Nath came along.
Do they ever go away? Gimme some hope, please ^_^

Sorry if this is in the wrong place. I haven't been here in a while. Seems like there's new rules >_+

I hate to be discouraging, but I say no. I don't buy into cremes.
Why? I used cocoa butter/stretch mark creme when I became pregnant under suggesstions from other people. I used it on my breasts, stomach, butt, hips, etc. Proof it didn't work? I have ZERO stretch marks in my stomach and horrendous ones on my butt, breasts, hips. I even got MORE after I had Logan from all the swelling in my legs.
Mederma (which is $30 a tube) is supposed to help new stretchmarks, but I'm not sure if it'll really work on older ones?
It's been 3 years since I've had my son. They're not that angry, painful red anymore, but they're not that "silvery" sheen everyone told me that would happen. Just my experience. If I had the money, I'd get laser treatment for them.
Not that there's been new rules, just a lot of new people who have had trouble following rules and keeping clutter down. wink

You can get lazer treatment? o_O Maybe one day I'll do that too. Besides, I might well one day have another child so I wouldn't want to spend all that money for nothing.
Ah well. Ta for all your help and expereiences ^_^

I have marks from just weight gain (me and a bad months with depression) and I use cocoa butter. It does work, although not the way people think. No, nothing will make them vanish short of lazer stuffs. But Cocoa butter isn't made to stop stretch marks. What it does is soften and make supple your skin. It helps for slow marks, by giving your skin more moisture and stretchability. However, fast weight gain, sudden enlarging of an area, ect- no, that won't help. If you don't want lazer surgery, look for any balm with comfrey in it, but as with most natural remedies, don't expect them to work immediately or dramatically. It takes a long, long time for scarring to go away, and that's what a mark is- a scar from over-stretched skin.

I had stretch marks when I had my oldest they run vertical then when I got pregnant with the little one I got them horizontal. But the new ones aren't as dark as in my first pregnancy. They have all faded pretty well. I also have them everywhere I don't want them..hips,breasts, stomach, thighs and even my legs.

Think of them as your "badge of honor" They will fade with time but never completely go away.Coco Butter is supposed to help if you apply it at the beginning of the pregnancy.

I got stretch marks at puberty (when I was 12), so they've never really bothered me, having always had them.

I myself used coco butter several times a day religiously throughout my pregnancy and ended up without a single stretch mark due to my drastic weight gain. I went from 91 lbs to 180 during my pregnancy due to gestational diabetes. I did however get marks later on my breasts (which are very small and fiberous to start with) from breast feeding because you can't really use anything when you are feeding that way but the coco butter did help bring the marks back down in color as well as time itself. I do think however it has a bit to do with gemetics as well as some people just have more elastic skin to start with but I could be wrong.
My best friend however had the laser surgury some years back for her varicose veins and some of the stretch marks on her stomach and was very pleased with the results, but we are both older mothers of teens now so my input might be a bit outdated. smile

Oh it's really totally genetics. I read somewhere that even with all the "prevention" cremes, if you're going to get them, you will. The cremes just help it not be as bad.
Although I want to gag everytime they show celebrity pregnant moms without a single stretchmark looking perfect. I want to see a REAL famous person.

Oh, I'm sure those celebrities have stretch marks, but they also have some lovely airbrush artists working on their pictures so nobody sees the stretch marks.
