Quote: I don't know if anyone has called you out on this, but Psychic Vampirism is a very dangerous act for the person performing it. A Psychic vampire tends to get screwed in the afterlife. According to Konstantinos, after the human body dies, the psychic vampire's soul will "latch" onto another human and take the life energy from that person. This prevents the vampire's soul from passing onto the afterlife and reincarnation. Ok, that's interesting--and in my primary field of study. Why would psychic vampirism prevent reincarnation? What Konstantinos is saying doesn't much bear with the experiences of real people. I haven't read his book, but I know that while his psychic protection information is said to be mainly good, his fears and warnings have him widely laughed at in the vamp community. Most of the vamps I know have past-life recall, and some even recall past lives as vampiric. There are a variety of causes for psychic vampirism. There are certainly folks who have no choice in the matter. Quote: Level 1: Subconcious Vampires -- these people are unaware that they are draining, but have a tendancy to be a bit meaner than most. Level 2: Concious Vampires -- These are by far more dangerous, as they have learned to manipulate their tendrils. Which means they can choose teir victims. Level 3: Line-Of-Sight Vampires -- Capable of draining from mass groups by simply staring at them, these are the masters of their art. However, unlike the previous two levels, I consider this to be far more humane, as they drain very little from many people rather than drain quite a bit from one single person (and make them more supseptible to attacks). I'm also curious where the '3 level' idea came from. (As folks gain energy manipulation skills, long-distance energy work from specific individual targets or multiple targets becomes possible, so I guess that would be your 'level 4' in that system). Should I move this post to a seperate topic? I believe I shall go ahead and start a new topic.

lol...I'm just wondering what the source for that information was. I don't think I've seen it before. I do tend to hang out with the older crowd in the community, though.

It was some book at Barnes & Nobels. Scary thing was, it made so much sense that I REMEMBERED it. Things that don't make sense get lost in my mind and are never found again... sweatdrop

Huh, there are a lot of new books coming out on the subject lately. (I wrote one myself ).
Well, the primary problem I see with it is that it's a bit too simplistic. Psy-vamps are, when it comes down to it, just like any other psychic--the only difference is their need for energy. So, when they learn energy-manipulation, they can do so the same way anyone else would. I would definitely not say that learning to pull energy from crowds necessarily follows learning to pull it from single individuals--that isn't always the case. A person could certainly learn to pull energy from crowds before they learned to pull it from a targeted individual. The most important thing for most pys-vamps to learn is NOT to pull energy like a runaway hoover every time they aren't paying attention.
As for who they should be pulling energy from--I recommend finding a willing donor for a practice partner. That is considered the most ethical path in the community these days, and when you think about it, being shy about asking or complaining about the potential inconvenience aren't really the best of excuses for not doing so.

I meant, by staring at the crowd, (I have to close my eyes, or else it won't work) I can sense all the energy around me. Most people don't even notice if I drain like that. But... Sometimes I just get so HUNGRY. It's like DRAIN NOW! You know? sweatdrop I feel bad afterwards. And yeah... the whole "get a volunteer" is kind of hard... sweatdrop
-EDIT- Usually I drain from people I don't like... But some people have bad energy. Yuck!

Difficult, but not as difficult as you might think. If you were to post such on here, I'll bet you would get several offers. Learning to do energy work over distances is not nearly as difficult as it might seem at first. If you aren't able to get enough energy by drawing off of crowds, it's an option you might want to seriously consider.
The danger in drawing energy from individuals around you is that some day you're likely to accidently tap someone who's aware of it--or tap someone in front of someone who's aware of it--and their reaction might be very bad for you.

Hehehe... I fear that moment every day of my life. redface
Some times... I glare at the people I hate when I'm sleepy and zoned out. And then I get all perky. And they they just glare at me and ask me why in the Hell am am I staring at them. -__-;;
Crowds are fun, but targeting is much, much, MUCH more fun. redface I try to stop, have stopped, nearly faited due to my ingenius "fasting from people," and only drain when I feel the need to. I have yet to tell my boyfriend I'm a p.v... O_O;; Help on that one?
-EDIT-
As for the volunteering... I really, really don't want to get into that. I'm trying to cut down on my habits. stare I need to act like I'm normal every once in a while. sweatdrop

When did you first notice you had a need to draw energy from others?

About a year and a half ago. -__-;; I heard about it from Coast to Coast, and because I was mad at someone (my b.f.f. now) I reversed the "how to snap a tendril" and drained her. She was sick for a week and didn't recover from the "cold" for even longer. o__O;; After that, I did some research and I started to suspect that I was one. Now I'm more than fairly certain I am (certain enough to say I am to my friend's face), and I have a nasty habit of becomeing so obsessed with perfecting something that the only thing I thought about for a few months was how to improve my p.v. abilities. I was stupid and thought it was "cool" at the time. Now I wish I had never turned on the radio that night...
EDIT:
Right. It's almost midnight over here, and I can't be caught on the computer this late. I'll catch you tomorrow morning or afternoon. Toots, yo! whee

Do you think you were drawing energy from others before you tried doing so deliberately?

Psyvamps are a BIG problem in astral becuase it can kill you but rarely does.
I myself can drain energy from someone or a large group but I have only done it once becuase I was being attacked.
As for problems with the afterlife, from what I know it does not affect it too much sometimes your soul becuase alittle dependant on doing it but only to give you ummm a "High".

Do keep in mind that some people have counter measures against psy-vamps. It might not be a good idea to drain some random person because they could have something....nasty up their sleeve, if you will.
