(my first thread yeah!!)

What are your thoughts on death without honor?
Is there such thing as "an honorable death", is there such thing as "killing" or dying without honor? Do you think that nowaday people have become desensitized to killing and death in general?
These are just some questions that have been filling my head all day.

I think that there is such thing as both. Here is an example for each. (And, I mean, obviously there are a whole bunch of other ones, but just off the top of my head...)

Honorable: A patriot dying protecting his country.

Unhonorable: Someone dying trying to protect his treasure (or, I dunno, gimme a break I'm tired xp )

Hmmm, those weren't really good examples...
whatever who cares.

And, well, I guess that there is always going to be someone in the world who disagrees, so I don't think that there is a death that is universally honorable or un-. But yeah. For specific beliefs, I think that there definitely is such a thing.

I think there are such things. To me an unhonorable death would be like...being killed in an embarrassing way, or like...suicide or something.

Dying with dignity is nice, and I would prefer that at the very least.
Dying with honor is delicious, and it would be ideal to die with honor.

Dying with honor could be someone dying of old age after living a life of generosity, hard work, ethical discipline, patience, concentration, wisdom and kindness. The mark that such people leave on the world would allow someone to die with honor. Lots lots. 3nodding

Dying without dignity may be death by drug overdose in a condemned apartment somewhere, perhaps. Dying without honor would be dying after living a life of greed, hedonism, selfishness, et cetera.

In my opinions.

okies, well for me personaly i would like to think of myself as a warrior of sorts since i practice sabre and other fencing, but im terms of honor, i think i would have to agree and say that in order for there to be honor in death or killing that it would have to be fair, and each have a "decent" chance, but anything else i dont think is honorable. but idk what do you guys think?

mk, do you think that there is such a thing as an honorable "killing"? Like is there any way to justifiy killing someone else and still have "honor" or "dignity" (just to use Dainichi's words)?

What kind of light do you think the media, (by media i mean like music, movies, video games, etc), protrays these things in?

There is a way to honorable kill someone, especially if they're a bad person.

You put up a fair fight, and then you kill them. Unless of course he/she kills you first. X__X

And most of the time the media is all 'boo killings' but sometimes they make it seem good...
Like when we hung Saddam. XD

Death is just death. Just a cycle of life.

I don't really understand the whole "honor" consept. People live as best they can, with the resources and knowledge they have, and then they die.
It's not really right, in my opinion, to grade them on how elogent their exit is. xD

It's wrong only if you believe it's wrong. If anything, in my opinion, suicide is sad, because the person didn't see how lovely life is. It's their option, so all we can do is hope they do better or have a better chance next time around. Hopefully they'll have more love in and around them. : D

I have no problem with suicide. I just think it would spoil all my fun if I did it myself. : P

To me, there is no such thing as honor in death. Any honor is an illusion, and so is any supposed 'dishonor'. Death, being the eventual end of all things, is beyond total human comprehension, and thus, it is beyond the ability of any human to describe it.

Then there's killing. Obviously, the one who is killed did not die with honor or dishonor, but the one who did the killing... no matter what the reason was, I beleive that killing is the most dishonorable thing anybody can ever do.

That leads us to suicide, and the question: the person who committed suicide killed, but they also died. So did they die with dishonor?

I beleive that they died like any other: without honor or dishonor. However, it was dishonorable of them to hurt the many that they left behind.

I don't know, suicide is so tricky to think about. A lot of people do it because there is no love and they just need to get away, and death is their answer so they can re-enter as someone who is loved.

Then again, drug addictions, alcohol, and other things can lead to suicide, where you're so ******** up you just think it's right when it isn't.

I don't really know, I'm fine with it and then again I'm not.

Donatello ++

The thing about drugs and suicide, certian aspects need to be addressed. First off there are cases of halucinagenic drugs, and people who commit suicide on them. There was a case of a young man that jumped off a roof thinking he could fly. Now if you are smart enough to try to lift off from solid ground, you deserve to die. And in killing yourself, hopefully before spreading your gene, you are doing the world a great favor.

It isn't the drugs that are the problem, it the dumb asses that take them. : P

There, I had my word.
