.The Tree. Welcome to the village tree, Kyendi. This beautiful tree was brought all the way from Sabilasi in hopes that it would attract the ieldi spirits. As you all know, it worked, and so we built a home here. If you're unfamiliar with the area, take a moment and read the map below. ^^
·About the Tree: This tree used to be inhabited by Ieldi hunters, it being rather too short in comparison to normal Ieldi trees, and therefore too close to the ground, for anyone else to dare living in it. After the Ieldi vanished, this tree grew very sad and withered almost to nothing. Its once beautiful green boughs fell away to leave only a husk of it's former self.
When I asked Koniryu to bring me a tree from Sabilasi, he told me that this one had all but volunteered. The spirits are drawn to it, feeling a bit of home in it's old body. Amazingly, it worked, the return of life to the tree is evidence of this.
·Important Places: Phoenix Nest- The large three story building to the right is the Phoenix Nest Inn. This is where most of the gatherings will take place. It's not uncommon to find one of the pantheon here, resting or gazing out of a window. There is a bar here, as well as a kitchen. Right now there is no one serving, so people are welcome to serve themselves to whatever they find. Four tables are arranged in a circle around a fountain in the center of the room. In one corner are a few plush couches and pillows thrown over a velvet carpet. In the other corner are several arcade games and a DDR machine. The second story contains four large rooms and two bathrooms for those visiting the tree. The third, smaller story belongs to the Pantheon. They sometimes rest there. It is also where they keep the relics and many other magical artifacts. Access to the third story is restricted. Keeper's Quarters- This other large building is supported by thick beams over the village lake. Ieldi keepers are welcome to take a room here, so that they are able to stay for longer periods, and don't have to live on the precarious shelves. The actual rooms are not within the building, but within the tree itself. Koniryu has so graciously molded the inside of the tree to create a huge area for the keepers to stay. The building is just a large living room, undecorated at the moment, that's linked to the entrance to the hollowed portion of the tree. The inside of the tree is lit by Lumina as well as a dimly flourescent moss. It is also very well ventelated, so the rooms are never uncomfortable. Once you've signed for a room, you're free to do with it as you please. It becomes a second home. The Pond- The Tree's pond is fed by a spring directly underneath the Village, so the water is always fresh. There are also many fish that make a home in the pond, good for those birds of prey. ^.~ The Farming Terraces- The four tiered farming terrace is where ieldi will be able to grow their own food or gardens. Storage Hut- Next to the farming terraces is a small shed where seed and gardening equipment is stored. It is only accessable by flight, so is meant for ieldi use only.Currently growing: Sabilasi melons:: Apparently some dormant melon seeds came along with the tree. They've now begun to grow, and the huge, pale green melons are growing well with no need of tending. Soon the sweet fruits will be ready for picking!

.History of the Ieldi. A long time ago in another world there lived a race of beings known as the Ieldi. They were a humble people, quite content to live in harmony with nature, never really concerning themselves with what lay outside their forests. The Ieldi were an avian race, born with the ability to fly, and thus their most treasured thing was their freedom. Their arboreal cities were vast and beautiful, often spanning for miles, but never coming close to the ground, which the Ieldi feared greatly...
Part I: The Sleeping Beast and the Birth of Oluine There was an old legend that told about a great beast that slept underneath the soil. It mattered not that other creatures, such as the kyunru, lived on the ground. It was the Ieldi that this creature wanted. According to this legend, it was an Ieldi preist that trapped the evil thing deep underneath the earth, to stop it from eating the children. Because this was before the race had grown wings, and they were quite vunerable to predators. In this early time, the Ieldi were much like humans.
However, before the beast was sealed away completely, it said to the priest: "You will regret this deed. As each new birth takes it's first step upon the earth, I shall devour it's body set it's soul to the ether." With that, the creature fell into a slumber deep underground.
The priest, desperate, went immediately to the gods, telling them what happened and begging them to help his people. And so the gods said to the priest: "Fear not, for with each new birth, your people shall gain the sky, forsaking the ground and it's hidden danger. But, harken, before the next child arrives, you must all leave the ground. You must never touch it again, or our blessing will not save you from the beast that has cursed you so."
So with that, the priest returned to his home with the bittersweet news. His people welcomed him, making him a hero for ridding them of the terrible beast that had hunted them for so long. They wasted no time in moving their cities into the trees. For word of the priest's valor and its cost had spread across the land. It was difficult for them at first, being so used to living on the ground. But it took five months for the entire Ieldi populace to migrate to their new homes.
It took six months for the next Ieldi infant to be born. And indeed, the child was born with feathered wings. It was smaller and lighter than normal, and was named Oluine, their word for 'Free'.
And as the gods promised, all children born were winged, and it was not long before the entire Ieldi race took to the skies.
Part II: The Beast Awakens A long and prosperous time followed. The Ieldi remained very shy and reclusive, too afraid to leave their forests. For even though they could fly, and had grown graceful and swift, they could not endure long periods of flight. So it was made that no one was to set foot outside of the forests. It was too dangerous. In the trees there was little chance for someone to fall to the ground, and only the Hunters lived below the undernets that prevented young Ieldi from falling whilst they learned to fly. It was just too dangerous for an Ieldi to venture out of the forest, and risk getting tired and not having a tree to rest on...
But of course.. it was bound to happen. It is untold who finally set foot upon the ground. Some say it was a child who fell while trying to sneak past the undernets to see the Hunters at work. Others say it was an Ieldi scientist born long after the Turning, who didn't believe the old legends and wanted to prove they were false. There are even other tales that it was a lone Ieldi, who left the forest in search of adventure, only to tire in mid-flight and fall to his death...
Regardless of who did it. It happened, and it took only moments. The ground opened and the beast was freed. It set upon its prey with the fury of a thousand years of smouldering hate. Their bodies fell away as the spirits were pulled from them, stuck between this world and the next. In the blink of an eye, the beast devoured all of their bodies and was forced back underground. The cities lay empty, nothing but the Ieldi had been touched.
Part III: To Live Again The spirits of the people hovered invisibly in the air for a long time, not realizing what happened, too confused to do anything but be. Slowly there came a consiousness to them again, and they began to wander. It didn't take long after that for the first of them to contact the gods, who were mildy perplexed about their disappearance.
The kindest of the gods came to them with a smile and a gift. It was a small, delicately carved statue. She said to them that she would grant them life again through these statues and a very special ritual. So it was that slowly, with the patience of this gentle goddess, that the Ieldi were brought back into the world.
But this time of rebirth was short-lived. There came an intrusion into their world. A group of highly powerful wizards opened a Gate that bridged into the world of the Ieldi, sending the natural balance into chaos. The Wizards were not around for long, one of their own having angered the very goddess who had helped nuture the Ieldi. The once gentle goddess became death incarnate and slew many of the intruders.
As the remaining wizards retreated and began to close the Gate.. the disturbance in energies caused a sort of magical black hole effect, sucking the entire populace of spirit Ieldi through the Gate and into Gaia.
They were trapped. In this world, there wasn't enough magic to support a continous corporeal manifestation. They could barely be seen or heard, most often they were feared as evil ghosts when they showed themselves to people. And here.. away from their gods.. there was no way to summon the spirits into a body. So they were stuck...
Part IV: Second and Third Chances. Eventually, the kyunru gods of the old world found their way into Gaia and made themselves known...
The rebirth of the Ieldi race began in the village of Kyendi. This village had been a gift from the kyunru god of nature, Koniryu, who used his mastery over the natural elements to summon an ancient tree from Sabilasi into Gaia. Humans of Gaia - those already familiar with the Kin as well as outsiders - gathered to populate the village, drawn by friends or by simple curiosity. The Ieldi spirits that had wandered Gaia aimlessly for so long finally had something to focus on, a tree that represented home. So they gathered in Kyendi, eager for traces of their previous existence. It didn't take long for the gods to show the people of Gaia how to help bring about the resurrection of those lonely souls. Using magical relics carved with powerful runes, the spirits of the Ieldi were attracted back to an earthly form, reborn again as children under the care of their Gaian keepers.
For a few months, the young Ieldi lived an idyllic life, cared for by their keepers and guided by their gods. They were free to roam the Kyendi tree and wanted for nothing. Though many struggled with the echoes of their past, the dark times of the Beast seemed far away... at least, they did until one fateful day.
The Ieldi's peaceful rebirth was shattered when Kyendi itself came under attack by Death in the form of the dessicated and once banished god, Valesti, whose foul intent was guided by the psychotic goddess of Chaos, the laughing Neruheru. A great wave of entropy destroyed the tree, bringing it down even as terrified humans, Ieldi, and their kin fled their decaying village. It was a hugely traumatic event for all involved.
After Old Kyendi's fall, a portal to another remnant of Sabilasi was established. This 'New Kyendi' was another beautiful tree-village, one once belonging to the ancient Ieldi society, and many times larger and more developed than Old Kyendi had been.
Yet while the Ieldi and their keepers moved safely into their new homes, the community of Kyendi never truly recovered from the previous village's dramatic destruction. Perhaps people were afraid that the divine wrath which felled Old Kyendi would strike again. Whatever the reason, the lively community of humans and other beings that had once made Old Kyendi so full of life failed to flourish in New Kyendi. Within a year of New Kyendi's establishment, the village was practically empty of everyone save the reborn Ieldi and their keepers. Even the Pantheon became a rare sight as they dispersed to deal with the aftermath of Valesti's wrath.
Since that time, the Ieldi that were reborn have grown into adults and moved on to create their own lives. Some settled down, some wandered, some vanished. The souls of the lost Ieldi still drift through the ether, sometimes tamed and transformed to serve as a component in the Pala lifeform. The full rebirth of the Ieldi seems a distant dream at best, impossible at worst. It seems likely that the species will die again...

Zydeco stretched out across the bench on the first platform near the gazebo. It was such a beautiful autumns day, and she didn't want to waste it inside. A sketchpad lay across her stomach and her arms were folded behind her head in support. She smiled, "What a pretty day." It was more of a statement to herself, since she was the only one around.
A lone leaf snapped off the tree and fell down to graze her cheek in all its wonderful fall orange. She laughed, the leaf tickled and she picked it off and held it up to the light. "You fell pretty far just to make me laugh."

Leila shuffled among the various empty shelves as she mad her way down to the bridge to sit by the lake. She was feeling rather aggravated and she didn't know why. She sat to clear her thoughts, much of what this Miliardo said the other night was still on her mind. She sighed and ran her fingers through the water as it sparkled.
Tia had sprang out of bed that morning to make it down the the village. She brought her camera today, as well as her journal to record some of the village in there.

If Leila focused hard enough in the rippeling water she would notice Miliardo standing behind her with a very peacefull look on his face, he didn't seem to angrey about the other night. On his shoulder sat Kara who wiggled her way in to Miliardos hair to hide from Leila.
Fenix sat by the base of the tree pawing at flowers to pass the time when he spoted Tia and the journal too! He hoped up running through the grass yelping to get her attention, "Kuu! Kuu! Kuu!"

Leila didn't have to turn around to sense who was there.
"Miliardo Karson," Leila smirked, "So you kept your word on coming to see me again."
Tia spotted the small kyunru. "Oh! Hello again little guy, you want to learn more about letters today?" she asked a warm smile on her face.

Miliardo nodded, "Indeed I have, I came also to apologize for being rude the first time we met, I admit one of my short comeings and one for most humanity is we can anger quiet quickly while others can stand things for extended periods of time."
Fenix nodded hoping up and down eagern to learn more of these 'letters' and eventualy this 'english' humans speak and how to speak it as well as read it.

Leila chuckled. "I am glad you said that. It proves your intelligence to me, perhaps then you were listenting to what I had been saying yesterday. To each is his own," she smirked as she spoke.
"I think today, we should start on how to say and spell your name," she grinned and sat down in the grass.
"Fenix I think it was?" she asked.

Fenix curled up on a small rock beside her watching carfully, he nodded at his name, "Kuu!"

"Perhaps your anger got the best of you yesterday, as I have been known to take a shooting at many creatures egos by habit of nature," she replied.
"Ah quite the gentlemen as well are we? Of course, I could never refuse and offer," she said accepting his hand and standing up.
"Well, Fenix is spelled, F - e - n - i - x . and to say it you start with a 'fff sound then add the 'eh' sound then the 'nn' sound and after come 'ih' sound and last is the 'xs' sound," she voiced each letter seperately.

"Were exactly shall we head first? It's quiet a large tree im sure there's a few nooks and crannys we can explore that no one will mind us doing so."
Fenix nodded thinking, thinking very very hard. "Ffffiiiiehhhnnnniiiikkkks? Feeniks?" he cocked his head at an angel bright blue eyes shineing for more.

"Apologies have been made and excepted, yesterday was the past, now we are in the present," she replied.
"I suggest starting around the bottom, we wouldn't want to get in the way of any spirt vistings on the upper shelves now," she snickered.
" ... but of course anywhere is fine."
"Very good! you're a quick learner Fenix! What shall we learn next?" she asked smiling.

"And the present is all that really matters for that is what all should live for." He started heading to the steps leading to the base of the tree, "No we wouldn't want to upset the spirits at all." He turned back, "Well if any were is fine... were do you really feel like going?"
Fenix hoped up and down happily his furr getting very bright glowing and giveing off warmth. "Kuuuiiiii!" he yelped with joy letting off a blinding flash of delight, he sat still relizeing he blinded some one again with his joy, "Kuu!" he pawed at Tia to make sure she was okay.

"The present is a good place to live at, but I can not persuade everyone to beilieve that. Some like to plan ahead and hope for the best in the future and some are stuck in the Past. Perhaps my harshness comes from most people wanting to escape the present," Leila gave off a small shrug.
"I've been meaing to visit around the flowers, I haven't smelled their fragrances in so long," she replied firmly, but with an easier tone.
"Whoa sparkly ... " she said almost dazed. "Oh heh, it's ok I know you're excited," she petted him behind the ears.
"Hmm what next? Oh I know! We'll teach you how to have a basic convorsation," Tia said.
"To start we greet each other with 'Hello'," she said making sure that Fenix would repeat after her.
