I've just noticed there is not a 'Movies Discussion thread' here...
So, using my experience as an armchair movie critic, and former honorary member of the University of Derby Film Appreciaction Society, I've decided to start one!
I love movies. My personal collection spans over 500 titles, from hich-profile blockbusters to obscure works of genius.
So.. on to the discussion.
1, the obvious: What is your faveorate movie?
2, to provide the discussion part: What was the last film you saw, and what dod you think of it?
Coming soon: Spiritual WD40's review of War of The Worlds... providing I have the cash and time to go see it this week!
Chat away!

Favourite movies gonk Such a hard choice... but top three are probably Monty Python and the Holy Grail, The Wizard of Oz and The Princess Bride. I'll even give reasons. biggrin
I adore the comedy style of Monty Python. I could sit and watch a marathon of Flying Circus and be in heaven. British humour always has me in stitches. I am also a huge fan of Arthurian legends. Smacking two of my favourite things made me fall in love with it within seconds.
As for The Wizard of Oz and the Princess Bride, I grew up loving them. We even had them recorded on the same beta tape. XD They just have beautiful stories that you can never grow tired of. There's just a magic about them that never dies.
The last movie I saw was Hitch. It was decent. Will Smith movies never leave an "OMG AMAZING" impression on me. It had some absolutely hilarious parts and then some that dragged on. I loved the characters but the story is what lacked. It was just another "man and woman fall in love but have a grand complication which almost destroys their relationship" movie. Blar.

RebelNovelist 1. My Favorite movie is Anger Managment, with Adam Sandler and Jack Nicholson. It's so hilarious! 2. Last movie I saw was Star Wars Episode 3: Revenge Of The Sith. All I can say is OMG it was AWESOME! I've yet to aee RotS. But since Episode 1 was released I've had to fend off critisism of the new Star Wars movies.... Dont get me wrong, I didnt like Episode 1, but I wont put up with innacurate critisism... The majoroty of attacks on the 'prequels' usually consists of "But they're so cheesy, and the acting is awful, and they're really childish. Not like the origionals!" To which my usual responce is: "Have you seen the origionals? Cheesy, crap dialogue, childish storylines! Sort your facts out!" Oh, and Adam Sandler... *Shudders* Urrurrurrurrrhhh.... Jack Nicholson: Great, Adam Sandler: Urrurrurrurrrhhh!

Fave Movie: ok, there's a "short" list.... Ever After, Princess Bride, LOTR (all three), Star Wars (all 6), Moulan Rouge, Last Samuarai and many others.
Last Movie Seen: Star Wars: Episode 3.. my opinion.... He did it right.... I hated that!!! I hated that he did the final prequal correctly! it ended the way I thought it should have... that pisses me off! The movie was good, I wouldn't say amazing, but it is what the box office needed because of all the crappy/bad movies comming out... Costuming in this movie, is very good, I have no arguments with any of the clothes say one outfit, Padme's Last outfit, is WAY wrong! I'm sorry, Padme at that point in the movie, shouldn't be wearing something that short and skimpy!
Second last Movie Seen: Kindgom of Heaven... Cosuming for the lead female was incorrect, as was much of the uniformity of the armor... but as an acctual movie, it was really good. Not amazing but good, the music is awsome! The sets are drewl worthy, but the clothes take alot away from the film.
That's just my opinion of them... Care to talk about either? or any other?

My favorite movie is Moon Child, I laughed through the whole first half, and cried during the second half. I also like Star Wars(all), K-Pax, and Big Fish.
The last movie I saw was Star Wars episode III. It was ok. I think the new triology is too flashy, and lacks the esence of the original three films. I don't think the new actors have the same chemestry as the older ones. But whatever, all in all it was pretty good.

Spiritual WD40 "My name is Enego Montoya, you killed my father... prepare to die....." One of the best lines ever! Oh.. finish this sentance: "No more rhyming now, I mean it!" "Anybody want a peanut?"
Ahahahah... XD I find myself quoting Inigo a lot. Actually I find myself quoting everyone a lot. ._.;
Adam Sandler was good in Happy Gilmore. Haven't been overly taken by anything else he's done.
I cried after watching Star Wars Episode I. I think Jar Jar scarred my ears and eyes. It was like all the stupidity of the Ewoks rolled into one monster that could talk (unfortunately). And I hated the whole pod racing part. So friggen boring.

Fave Movie: Whale Rider, Moulin Rouge
Last Movie Seen: My Sassy Girl (it's a Korean movie) | Pretty decent for a Korean movie, and reading subtitles. Apparently they're going to make an American Version come 2006.
Second last Movie Seen: Sleepover (with my little cousin) ... Wow, I hate young teen movies.

First off please do not insult the ewoks. I LOVE the adorable killer teddy bears! Thank you.
Second off, it's hard to say what my favorite movie is, seeing as how I rarely watch movies, and when I do I end up falling in love with most of them. However, my families financial situation being what it is we rent on the dollar days and so...yeah. However, I adore The Princess Bride, whenever I see it I recite along with the movie, I have a copy of the abridged version in paperback and want to get a Morgenstern paperback in English. However, they are nearly immpossible to find and if you do they cost more than I can afford. But I can't afford a five dollar movie, so...I also absolutly adore many Disney movies and I LOVE " What Dreams May Come." I always cry at the end, and I almost never cry, certainly not in public.
The most recent movie I have seen, complete, not just watching snipets of it, is, both on the same day: Cursed ( I love the occult, and I like to study it, see how it is peiced together, like with ancient greek mythology,) and...oh darn I forgot the name...um the most recent one with...the bald guy...Hostage, I believe the name was. About this guy who moved to a small town from L.A. who was a cop, so that he didn't have to have peoples, especially childrens, lives on his hand, and then there is this hostage situation and it gets really complicated.
The last movie I saw in theaters was Star Wars, Episode...two. I don't much go to the theater, though I will be going to see Harry Potter Four in theaters. The first movie came out when I was thirteen, or about to turn anyway, one of those, and I watched it with my Dad on opening night. It's a tradition now, and one of the very few times I get to be alone with my father, what with all four of my siblings, and then my Mom. The last two times the kids came with, I was not happy about it, so I am lookiing forward to this very much. I adore my father, in case you couldn't tell...

Favorite movie...gee. I like a lot of movies. Who Framed Roger Rabbit?(for serious), White Oleander, I Am Sam, Pay it Forward, House of Flying Daggers, Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, etc.
Last movies I saw...House of Flying Daggers(absolutely beautiful) and Spiderman(which is still complete garbage). I don't see how people enjoy that movie. It's so bad. The acting. Just pay attention to the acting; it's horrible.

My favorite movie is What dreams may come, or perhaps Hero. The last movie I saw was The House of Flying Daggers. It was so-so. "And remember, this is for posterity, so be honest. How do you feel?"
