The Sutenjiku eyed the temple walls with distaste, he was beginning to get frustrated being inside for too long. The past few days had been raining steadily and he had decided to take shelter at the Temple of Shikoku. But finally he was fed up with the dusty smells. It was time to leave.
The pale Sutenjiku got to his legs and walked out through the entrance way. Seeing that the rain had stopped and the sun was shining brightly, warming up the land to begin to take away all the dampness the rain had caused. He walked down some steps, his paws padding lightly along his way. He was out, he was free. Joyous day.
Akira looked about with his dark blue eyes, watching carefully for anyone or anything. Seeing nothing, and satisfied with that he continued on his way. Walking towards a meadow, his paws began to get damp, the grass was still wet from the newly fallen rain. His tail feathers dragged behind him, also getting wet in the process.
What will today be like? Will there be an adventure in it today? He wondered. He did secretly hope that he would have an adventure today though having one by yourself was not as much fun as being with another. Though Akira did not know many others, he had spoken to others on occasion but those were not much to speak of.
The pale coloured male frowned, was today to be such a boring day also? Oh he truly hoped not. He ruffled his wings. Should he take to the skies? It would be nice to feel the wind flowing through his fur and mane. And flying was much fun, the memories he had of it. He sighed. What to do?

Orange fur and feathers danced in the cool breeze as Ryoichi walked no where in general. The recent rain had been quite depressing since it meant being cooped up in the temple. Sure, playing in the rain was fun but not when it meant having to take a bath afterwards. Ryo scoffed at the thought of a bath, it was a fate worse than heck.
Small bundles of mud began to form on his feet as he continued walking. Hnnn, what to do on today? There was always digging through people's garbage. After a little thought with that idea Ryo shook it off. Snooping through trash is only fun until you get caught. After that......well, lets just say that it gets pretty ugly.
Ryo's gold eyes scanned the area in front of him as he halted. Seeing nothing but the usual scenery, he turned to go back in the direction from which he came. As his feathered tail moved from its resting place, a ear twitched. The ear twitch usually meant a fly was nearby or something very soft was heard. In this case, it was the second one.
Ryoichi turned around, looking at the area once again, only more carefully. He squinted, trying to see if that would help and indeed, it did. A white blur was now in his vision and Ryo wondered why he had not noticed this before.
After about a minute of debate with himself(the curious side of him won, of course), Ryo headed towards the other. Knowing the temple grounds, it was probably another Shikokuyen out and about after the long rainfall. Since there was a lot of other creatures in the forest, it could be something else, so just to make sure...

He continued on his way, his paws padding through the wet grass, his tail dragging slowly behind. Why did they have to have such a long tail anyway? It was a pain after awhile. He turned his head to the side and his dark eyes caught sight of something.
He stopped instantly and his fur stood up on end. His eyes grew wary as he turned to regard the bright coloured Shikokuyen. The other male was quite bright, he stood out with his orange fur and lightly spotted body. Since it was just another of his kind, Akira cooled down and stopped his defensive stance.
"Hello." He called to the other, inclining his head slightly in a courteous manner.

Walking in the wet grass helped wipe the mud off from his paws. Getting closer to the other, he realised that his first guess was right. It was another Shikokuyen. By the looks of it, it was a male and his white fur had traces of blue. It was interesting, he'd usually seen every other Shikokuyen at least once but this one was new to him.
As soon as the other was within contact area, he heard a small greeting. Taking this as a cue to commuticate, Ryo smiled.
"Hey there," he said, trying to be as friendly as he could. "Nice, uh, weather that we're havin', huh?"

He chuckled at that. "Thankfully it is clearing up, though next time it pours I won't be staying at the Temple of Shikoku." He shook his head at the remembrance of that place. "It wasn't the best place to stay at, being cooped up and all. It was agitating." Akira laughed, at ease that he was finally out.

Ryo laughed. "Tell me about it. Bein' here isn't the best, but its not the worse either, I've had worse...." As he said this, Ryo reflected back on one night where he had been forced to spend his cardboard box with a family of cats. He shuddered at this. "I'll be stayin' here next time unless my girl comes to get me before then." He paused for a second. "She likes to travel an' stuff."

He tilted his head to the side. It seemed to him that this male had been through worse. Akira had an alright life, when he became an adult he finally bonded with a human owner and though he didn't spend time much with her he still cared for her, if only slightly.
"Your girl?" He smiled at that. Maybe one day he'd have one too, wait did he even mean a female Shikokuyen? He had no clue actually what he meant.

Seeing the puzzled look on the other's face Ryo chuckled nervously. "Eheheh, yeah, ya know, my er.....keeper?" He tried again to find a word that matched but for some reason, it wasn't coming to him. He squinted as to concentrate harder. "Um, er.......oh! I mean my owner," he said with a proud smile. Vocabulary had never been his strong point but he got along with the words that he knew. Or at least remembered.

He chuckled. "I thought you meant a female of our kind. Not your human, obviously." He rubbed the grass with his front right paw, head downwards. He was definately embarassed.
"So what...ah, brings you here?"

Ryo smiled sheepishly as he scratched his head. He really did need to work on his word choice. "Eheh, that's my fault, I shoulda been more clear. Sorry 'bout that." Before responding, the orange Shikoku took the question to thought. What was he doing out here? His face scrunched up as he tried to think back. Ah!
"Oh yeah! Just out here patroling the grounds..stretch my legs, that kinda stuff. I figure yer here for that too, eh?" An eye brow rose as he waited for an answer from the other. At this point, Ryo had thought of another question.
"Oh, by the way, m'name's Ryo. And you are...?"

He nodded, being more clear would of been helpful but at least he wasn't alone on the female part of things. "Yes I was out to stretch my legs but mostly I was heading towrds this meadow near here."
He thought on the meadow, little animals went through there and there tended to be lots of stuff to do in that place. "Hmm Akira." He added as an afterthought.

"Meadow? Which one?" he asked curiously. An image of a few meadow's came to mind. There was one that was always moist, no matter how hot it was, then there was one that he had discovered as a kid. It had been one of his "alone" places for a while. He stopped visiting when he had gone there to relax and found that the ground was actually being used for..........certain things. You could say that he's now scared for life.
Ryo shook his head to tear away from those thoughts. "Okay Akira, wanna head there now? As longs as we don't go to the one some ways behind the temple..."

"Definately not that one." He shook his head, farther away from the Temple, the better. "No, mine is just beyond a rather large hill, it is near a forest and a river." He nodded his head in the East direction.
"Let us go then?" He started walking, looking behind at Ryo. He wondered if those bunnies would be there again or those squirrels from the trees. Or the chirping birds. He would find out soon, he guessed.

"Large hill, eh? I don't think I've been to that one. Is it crowded?" It wasn't like he didn't like others around, it was just that too many could cause a fuss. More people tended to attract more trouble for some reason and Ryo did not look forward to any violence.
He nodded and followed behind, not wanting to get lost since he had never been to this new place. "So, how long've you been here? At the temple I mean. I haven't seen you around before."
