I'm making a custom bass out of parts and wood. I'm also creating a radical new bridge disgine which I am not releasing until the guitar is finished and the disgine has been patteneted. I need some serious recomendations as to what kind of wood to use for the body, since that is the main part of the guitar that I shall be shaping. I am also making a custom disgined head, but I will be using stock necks fret bords and pickups, so if any one can recomend some good hard ware to put on it that would be cool too. I'm calling it the Zunbar 5 custom series.

Its my sig bass, I want it to be very warm and very clean, one of the best possible, cash is not an issue at all. I can get most any wood that I need, and the hard wear that won't be to tough either, I'm gona order that from the manufacurer.

Hmmm, warm and clean, that brings mahogany to mind, nice warm tone, and very light, so it's ideal for core wood. Any idea if you want a top wood or not? What about fret board woods and such, or are you just going to buy a neck? Hardware...do you want it to be active or passive?

Brazilian rosewood tops with a mahogony body, i think. Bartolini pickups are awesome, and piezo preams are always a good way to go. try doing a single-cutaway, those are very nice. And if you know how, try to utilize a neck with 2 truss rods instead of one. Rickenbackers have that, and those are my favorite necks of any bass.

I"m just wondering on what a good wood would be for the most part I know what I'm doing with the rest of the stuff, I'm buying a prefab neck, but I'm gona shape the head. Bassicly I'm gona use a hell of a lot of J bass pickups like this one bass that I saw once, with five pick ups it sounded really clean. When I get the bridge made I'll tell you about it because its gona be crazy. I'm gona machine the hard wear. Warm clean tones, and My current bass is prity heavy so heavy woods aren't a problem either.

Oh I don't like rickenbacker, I'm a Gibson, fender fan. I'm using that kind of gear for the stock parts I'm getting, and I'm just gona make some thing that one one has ever seen, I got some gold and silver plates yesterday, i'm gona make the inlays with that I think, or mabye a pick gard.

That sounds awesome, you'll have to put up some pics when it's done! How can one not like Rics?!?! well, they're necks are really nice and solid either way. Still, dual truss rods will give your neck alot more strength, and that can be a very good thing.
My friend got in a car crash once, and of all his gear that was in the car, only his Ric survived! just saying...

I still have no idea what you want, we can't help you if your going to be so secretive about the design and what you want it to look like. Active or passive? What hardware do you need help picking out? Is it going to be painted or not? I also think this is going to way more difficult than you believe, wiring 5 sets of pickups together is not going to be fun, even worse if you want them to be active.

All about active, and the shape is gona be ac combo between a flying v and the gibson thunder bird but with a half cutt away at the bottom. The only thing I don't want to go into detail about is the bridge because I have some crazy Ideas for that. I think I'm fine with a regular neck I plan on keeping this thing in a steal vault while I am not playing it. a vault with wheels of course. I don't doubt that rics are invincalbe, I'm just not a fan. I"m doing a very pointy some what scyth like disgine with the head. The man thing I'm going for is clean and resonsive as crap. I want every note too be hurd.

Don't worry I am fully capable in the realm of wires and nobs mostly just the type of pick up over all. I can wire it I have training in the elctrical field and a friend with lots of readiers for current and wattage and amprage ect, so I'll be all right there, I am painting it yes, it will be deep purple.

There we go, alright, so you want a warm, deep tone, with active electronics, and all other hardware besides a bridge? For a wood I'm still sticking with mahogany, very rich warm tone and it's cheap (I know you said price is not an object but what would be the point in buying an expensive piece of wood like rosewood or koa with the same tone as mahogany and then painting it?). For tuning gears you need to check out Hipshots, especially the e-string extender which has a lever you can use to switch between 2 tunings, normally between E and drop D, very useful and convenient. The tuners themselves are rock solid as well. For pickups, they are expensive, but well worth it, Sadowsky Hum-canceling pickups, $140 a set, and you'll need 3 sets to get 5, great pickups out of arguably the best built Jazz basses in the world (Fender eat your heart out...). Preamp, gotta be the Audere, with the Z-switch you can get three distinctly different voices out of your bass, and they all sound awesome. Neck, http://www.warmoth.com/bass/necks/necks.cfm?fuseaction=standard, go crazy.
