Hi, my name is Jennifer, but call me Kitten. This is a fanfic that I've been writing a while, and I thought that I'd just post it to see what other people thinks. My friends told me that it was good, but I wanted to see what YOU thought about it. Feel free to comment. Thanks! 4laugh
NARUTO~A CAGED BIRD~
Chapter One: The Past
It was a peaceful night at the Hidden Village of Fire, AKA Kajida. It's located deep inside an extinct volcano, but everyone thought that the volcano was active. That's why everyone kept their distance from it, in case it would 'erupt.' Every villager was fast asleep, but someone or something lurked within the forest that surround the village. Soon, a whirlwind of fire burned a house that was nearby the forest. The jounins and the hokage ran towards the house that was burning. More flames appeared, and a creature flew out from the woods. A fire covered griffin flew over the village, unleashing more chaos. Many villagers burned from the roaring flames while the shinobis tried to stop the demon by using Ninjutsu.
"Hurry up! We need someone to use a water jutsu here and sand jutsu over there! It's getting away!" an elite jounin yelled. The griffin screeched so loudly that more houses fell down, crushing some people. "There's no way we can beat the grif-"
"Don't worry. I'll beat it."
"But Lord Hokage, you possibly can't-"
"Do you doubt me?"
"No, but-"
"But nothing. Now move aside." The jounin backed away while the hokage bit his thumb, drawing blood, and smearing his blood across a summoning scroll. A tiger appeared right next to him, almost as big as the griffin, maybe even larger. They both battled ferociously. Soon, the griffin was worn out, but the tiger didn't even break a sweat. The hokage went to his wife. "I-I'm sorry, Miyochi, but we have to make a sacrifice."
"For wha- No...Not my baby. Our baby is just a newborn. I won't let you."
"I have to. It's one sacrifice that'll save what's left of this village."
"Think of her future. How do you think she'll be treated? Please Damin..."
"She'll be treated with respect and honor for saving this village." Miyochi cautiously gave her husband their child. She cried silently as her husband walked towards a shrine, placing his child on the alter table. "I'm sorry, my child, but you will be respected for saving this village. I promise you. Remember this, your mother and I will always love you forever." He kissed her on the forehead and then performed several different hand signs.
A seal appeared in front of the griffin, sealing it, and then it was placed on his daughter's palm. Miyochi sobbed as her lover fell onto the floor, lifeless. His last words were a silent whisper that were carried away with the wind.
"May my child be respected for what has happened today. Also, Miyochi, I will always love you. Do not forget me."

Chapter 2: The Present
~5 YEARS LATER~
"Mommy?" said a childish voice.
"Yes, Itazura?"
"Where's daddy?" There was a pause.
"He-He's on a business trip."
"Oh. When is he coming back?"
"I-I don't know." She had a few tears slipping, which Itazura saw.
"It's ok, mommy. I'm sure he'll come back." She patted her mother's leg.
~LATER THAT NIGHT~
Itazura woke up from a slight cry in her mother's bathroom. She got up from her small bed and walked towards the bathroom.
"Mommy?" She saw her mother lying in a pool of red water and a knife right next to her. At that time, she never knew what blood was. "Mommy? Are you ok? Mommy? Speak to me. Don't leave me, mommy." Miyochi slowly lifted one hand to touch Itazura's cheek.
"M-My dear child, I-I love you very much. Y-Your father will never come back, a-and neither will I." She kissed her daughter's forehead, the same place that Damin had 5 years ago. Soon, Miyochi's hand fell onto the ground as her eyes became lifeless.
~AFTER HER MOM'S FUNERAL~
"She didn't even cry."
"IT'S ALL HER FAULT THAT DAMIN AND MIYOCHI DIED!" a villager yelled, pointing at Itazura.
"How? Why? She's their offspring."
"Damin died because he sealed it in her, Miyochi died because she brought up Damin."
//I'm sorry. I didn't mean to. I didn't know.// "I DIDN'T MEAN TO!!" Itazura yelled. Tears started to build up in her eyes.
"Of course you didn't." Itazura turned around to find a woman; the 2nd hokage. "Why don't you come with me? You can be my child from now on." Itazura just ran to her and hugged the hokage tightly. Faint whispers of rumors started spreading around.
"I heard that Aleena adopted the demon."
"No way! That's impossible!"
"Obviously not. See look." One of the village women pointed at the 2nd Hokage who gave Itazura a piggy back ride.
~7 YEARS LATER~
"Hee hee. They'll never know it was me. It was so easy too!" Itazura snickered. She's now 12 years old, and her childish side never left her. Right now, she's hiding behind a fence, peeking out of a hole. She now knew why her father died. It was to seal the griffin in her. She found this out when she was 8. Now, she regretted for being alive. She should have died instead of her parents, but the 2nd hokage said otherwise.
//"I think that everyone was born for a reason. Same goes for people dying. Your parents died for you to live. I'm pretty sure. Now you have to find your reason for living."// ((Sorry if it sounds SO much like Fruits Basket! Guess I was too into it. sweatdrop ))
Aleena treated her like she was her own daughter. But all happy times have an ending, whether it's a good one or a bad one. Aleena died saving the village, just like her own father did. Back to the present, Itazura just pulled a major prank. She placed a bucket full of paint above a door, and when the 3rd hokage, a young woman, went through it, well, you know. Unless you're that dumb... The jounins that seen this scene were out raged and chased her, while the hokage laughed.
~A FEW MINUTES LATER~
"Hello, Itazura." someone said from behind her.
"AGH! Oh, it's you, Lord Hokage." she said nervously.
"Don't worry, you're not in trouble. I use to be like you when I was at your age." Sayuka, the hokage, said while smiling.
"Really?"
"Yes, and I must quite say, it was a classic."
"Thank you very much, Hokage-sama!" Itazura smiled.
"Well, isn't the academy supposed to start in about 5 minutes?" Sayuka questioned.
"Ack! I promised Aleena I'll become a shinobi! Thank you, Hokage-sama, but I have to go now. Bye!" and with that, she ran towards the academy.
"Heh. You'll become a great shinobi, Itazura. Maybe even better than me." she mumbled. She then turned around and started walking away.

Chapter 3: The Test
~AT THE ACADEMY~
"pant pant I made it and with a few minutes to spare." Itazura sighed as she sat down in her assigned seat.
"Class, quiet down please. Quiet down now. SHUT UP!" a jounin yelled. He was a tall, handsome male that made any female drool or faint, but Itazura knew better. He has blackish blue hair with matching black eyes with a bluish rim. He has a great body, and he also had a scar on his cheek, intensifying his hotness. All the girls in class drooled, making a huge puddle while Itazura and the boys rolled their eyes.
"Now class, as you may know, today is the final test to see if you qualify as a shinobi. If you fail, you have to stay at the academy for another year. Now, once your name is called, go to the testing room. Arino Kojimi." Kojimi stood up and started walking towards the testing room.
Kojimi is I guess you say, the most heart-throbbing boy in the academy, beside Sunio, their teacher. Kojimi has reddish hair with brown eyes. He's not that built, but it's enough to make girls scream their lungs out, literally. A girl name Remy screamed until she couldn't even speak. Kojimi came out with a headband on his forehead. All the girls but Itazura sighed as Kojimi returned to his seat.
"Next is Fuko Itazura." Sunio called. Itazura rose from her seat and headed towards the testing room. Once she entered, she saw two shinobis; a jounin and a chuunin.
"Well, Ms. Fuko, can you make 3 doppelganger?" the jounin asked. He was known as Rukomi, and he had blue hair and green eyes.
"Sure!" she said while smiling. Itazura did a series of different hand signs, and then there was a poof. As the smoke disappeared, four Itazura was revealed.
"That's very good, Ms. Fuko. Here's your headband." the chuunin complimented. She was a brunette that reached to her shoulders with crystal blue eyes. She was known as the prettiest woman in Kajida, Shiwa Kirei. Itazura stared at her headband with excitement. She quickly put it around her forehead with the sign facing her left, bowed to the older shinobis, and left the room with a huge smile plastered on her face. As she returned to her seat, the other kids mumbled to each other, but with her demon-like senses, lets just say she eavesdropped ^^;.
"Can you believe it? That wretched demon actually passed!"
"Well, duh! She probably cheated with her freaky demon powers."
"But it's still sleeping, isn't it?"
"Well, she was always the teacher's pet ever since she came, and that was like four months ago! She passed in less than four months while some of us were here for more than two years and still hasn't passed. I wonder why she wants to be a shinobi anyways."
"I heard that the 2nd Hokage took her in, and before she died, she made her promise that she'll become a shinobi. At least that's what the rumors said." Itazura didn't want to hear anything else. She was still depressed that the hokage died. She treated her with such kindness, and her death still affected her.
"Well, at least she's better than all of you guys. You can't even make one functioning dooplanger." someone pointed out. Itazura looked up to see......

CHAPTER 4: Team One Meets Their Jounin-Sensei
Kojimi, the most cutest and/or hottest guy in all of the academy, glaring at the kids who were speaking badly about her.
//Why is he sticking up for me? There's no way that he can like me. I mean, he has lots of girls to choose from, and they're all prettier than me, so there's no way that he could like me, right Aleena?// Her train of thoughts was broken when Sunio-sensei entered the classroom as soon as everyone was finished testing.
"Well, congratulations to those who passed. You'll have to stay here until further instructions, but those who didn't pass, good luck next year." About two-third of the students left, grumbling, while the other one-third started chatting with one another.
~30 MINUTES LATER~
"Like I said earlier, congratulation to all of you, but your life will become difficult. I'll assign you to teams of three. Team One consist of Arino Kojimi," All the girls but Itazura were at the edge of their seats, waiting for Sunio to call out their name, "Zion Sako," He was the second hottest guy in the academy with his black hair and red eyes. Almost every single girls fell off their seat from shock, even more desperate for their names to be called out, "and Fuko Itazura." All of the girls glared at her while Itazura was reading a book on how to control chakra. Someone sitting next to her nudged her side, causing her to look up to see Sako's piercing red eyes.
"Huh?"
"You're in Team One, stupid." Sako said rudely.
"Oh. Who's my teammates?" Kojimi was sitting in front of her, so he turned around to answer.
"Me and Sako."
"Oh, ok." she replied, continuing to read her book.
"Hmph, bookworm." he mumbled as Sunio continued reading the list of the teams. By the time he finished, everyone was restless.
"Now, since it's almost lunch time, take the time to get to know your teammates. After lunch is over, your jounin teachers will arrive and call out your team number. Have a good-" He was cut off by the school bell, and everyone got up to leave. Itazura left the school towards the forest that was near the academy. She sat under a shaded tree, still reading the same chakra book. She pulled out an apple from her pocket and started eating on it until someone tapped her shoulder.
"Oh, hello Kojimi-san."
"Hey Itazura. Uhm, do you mind if I could sit next to you?"
"No, not at all." She smiled cutely.
"Thanks." He sat down next to her and stared at the cloudless sky while Itazura continued munched on her apple and reading. For a while, complete silence over came between them until Kojimi started talking again. "Uh, can I call you Zura?"
"Sure, if you want."
"Well, Zura, I was wondering if, well...maybe..."
"What?"
"Well, maybe we can take this time to get to know each other." he said with a small blush.
"Yeah, that'll be nice. Well, I like to study, read, draw, and play pranks. I hate people who only think of themselves, people who have smart mouths, and girls who are obsessed with boys because it's going to hurt them sooner or later. I live in the 2nd Hokage's house, since she entrusted me with it and all. I'm not sure about my dream. I guess I just want to be a normal kunoichi (female ninja). What about you?"
"Uhm...Well, I like girls who act themselves, not those boy-crazy ones. I like to look at the stars at night, study and practice the three ninja tactics (Ninjutsu, Genjutsu, Taijutsu). My dream is to become an elite ninja." He looked like he wanted to say something else, but he restrained himself from doing so.
"That's nice Kojimi-san. You know, if anything is troubling you, you can always tell me." Zura said with concern.
"Thank you, Zura-chan."
"Well, lunchtime is almost over. I'm going to go back. Bye." She got up to leave, but Kojimi stopped her by grabbing her wrist.
"Well, there is something I want to ask you, Zura-chan. I-" The school bell rang, indicating that lunch was over.
"Well, the jounins will be in the classroom shortly. Meet me after school, then you can ask me, ok?"
"Sure." he answered, a little disappointed.
"But for now, let's go. If Sako's in a good mood, he'll probably be mad at us if we're late." Itazura snickered while Kojimi laughed.
~AT THE CLASSROOM~
"Team One over here!" A jounin near the door said, waving her hand in the air. She had silver hair that reached to her mid-back. She had blackish eyes and a tanned skin. She wore a top of a white kimono and black shorts. She also wore a black mask that covered her lower half of the face. Team One walked up to her, wondering if she was old or not. "Follow me." They followed their sensei to the forest that Kojimi and Zura was previously in. "Well now, let's get to know each other first. Talk about anything you like; hobbies, dreams, likes, dislikes just to name a few. The boy on the right can go first." she said, pointing at Sako.

CHAPTER 5: The New Couple
"Hmph. The name's Zion Sako. I really don't have likes or dislikes. Hobbies are pointless. I have no dreams, but it's something that I will achieve."
"Which is...what exactly?" Hayato pressed on.
"...To find a certain person."
"O~kay...Anyways, my turn. My name is Hayato. No last name because I don't remember my past. The only thing I remember is that I had an older brother, getting kidnapped, running away, and then getting adopted by my foster parents. I like hard workers, the Hidden Village of Leaves, AKA Konoha, and nature. I hate slackers, people who destroy nature, and people who act like they're all that. My hobby is to play the flute, to singing, training genins, and to visit Konoha every once in a while. My dream is to find my past. Next is the girl." ((Skip Zura and Kojimi because you guys know)) "Well, since we know a little bit about each, I want you guys to be here at 7:00 AM sharp. We're going to do a survival test."
"But Sensei, we've dine lots of survival test when we were in the academy. Why does this one matter?" Kojimi asked.
"Well, this test is going to determine whether you'll really become a genin. Out of all 26 gennins that pass, only nine pass fully."
"Then what was the graduation test for?" asked Zura.
"To see if you qualifies to become a genin. Now, enough explaining. You're dismissed. Oh yeah, I advise you to not eat breakfast unless you want to see it again." and with that, Hayato disappeared. After that, Sako walked away, leaving Zura and Kojimi alone.
"So, what did you want to ask me at lunch?" Zura asked him.
"Well, I wanted to know, uhm...well...uh...if you would, well...WILL YOU GO OUT WITH ME?!" he finally yelled. His eyes were glued to the ground, afraid that if he looked at her, she would shatter. Plus, he was blushing madly.
"Uhm...I don't know what to say..." Zura told him, surprised that he asked her out.
"Please say yes. I've waited for this day ever since I've laid my eyes on you." he said, lifting his head to glance at her. Zura just stood there, shocked even more, trying to absorb all the information she just heard.
//He likes me? But why? Why would he like me, an outcast? He didn't even show signs that he-Oh yeah, he defended me today, and he wanted to know me better...What should I do?// Her thoughts were interrupted by...
"Zura, what do you say?"
"Uhm...Well...Ok, but why do you like me? Everyone always avoided me."
"Well, you're the only girl who's not obsessed with me. Also, you're beautiful, and I think that you have a wonderful and bright personality. I don't care if you are the human form of the griffin that attacked this village 12 years ago. I like you for who you are, not what you have inside of you."
"sniff Thank you. You're one of the few people who are kind to me, and one of the few who like me for who I am. Thank you..." she trailed off, crying. Kojimi went up to her and held her.
"Sh...It's ok. it's alright." he cooed.
"But not many people likes me for who I am, and I've been so alone and-mm!" Kojimi stopped her babbling by placing his lops over hers.
//Did he just do that?//
//Did I just do that?// they thought in unison. They quickly pulled away and looked away from each other, blushing madly.
//I don't know if I should do this, but// Kojimi thought as he lifted her chin so she stared at him, //I love her with all of my soul.// he thought as he kissed her once again.
//Wow, her lips are soft.//
//Whoa, he's a great kisser.// they thought at the same time once again. Because they were so occupied by the kiss, they didn't even sense the two shinobis/Genins, lurking and spying within the forest, on the newly couple. The two newly couple parted, only to hug each other.
"Uhm, Kojimi-kun?" Kojimi nodded, signalling that he heard her.
"You do know that your fan girls will hate me if they found out that we're dating."
"Yeah, but the same goes to me for your fan boys."
"Huh? Fan boys?"
"Didn't you know? A lot of guys like you. There's lots of guys who like you for who you are." Zura was left speechless. "Don't worry, nothing will happen if we keep it a secret." he said, winking at her. She smiled and hugged him tighter.
"Uhm...I have to go soon, Kojimi-kun."
"Yeah, I do too." he said sheepishly, letting her go.
"So I'll see you tomorrow." Zura said.
"Yeah. Bye."
"Bye!" They waved to each other and went their separate ways.
