While browsing the monkey database known as Wikipedia, the great Devil Dinosaur stumbled upon information of a forthcoming series, "the Loners." Interestingly, the planned roster includes the emo monkey known as Penance. Have you mammals lost all sense of reality? He's hanging with the Thunderbolts at present...I doubt your government (whom I still plan to use as a buffet, by the way) would let a member of a team consisting of felons go play guidance conselor to some teenagers.

Wrong Penance. Angstball will be on the Thunderbolts, yes. This Penance is the character from Generation X.
Of course, they're going to rename her so that Joey Q. can have his precious Angstball. Apparently, someone already having a name means that if someone else gets butchered to the point of stealing, the original has to be the one to change. ******** Joey Q.

Isn't that Penance already Monet St. Croix?
stressed Their mutant continuity rivals that of the Legion, and they haven't even been rebooted four times...

It goes something like this...
Shortly after Gen-X started, Gateway dropped a mutant with tight, sharp skin, spiky hair, and claws for her hands and feet. Tells them that her name is Penance (hereafter known as Penny). Extreme, right? Well, she doesn't do much. Can't speak or communicate in any way really, and seems to be immune to telepathy and unable to understand English. Eventually they get through to her after she wrecks a good deal of where they've kept her, and she joins the team (though only Jubilee seems to really connect with her).
Eventually, it is revealed that Monet is actually two twins merged together, Claudette and Nicole St. Croix. Pennny is the real Monet, but Emplate changed her form as punishment for being, well, a hard-a** b***h to him (Emplate is the brother of the three girls). The twins, apologizing for impersonating Monet, merge back into one body and swap places with Monet, so she gets a body and they're trapped as Pennny.
Eventually, they even manage to separate Claudette and Nicole from Penny, but Penny's body still exists and even functions as if it has a mind. The twins take it back home to their father's with them while Monet stays on the Gen-X team. Penny has not been seen since, but will be joining The Loners.

Sweet Raptor Jesus, if I wasn't going to eat you all before, I would now, just to keep this sort of thing from happening anymore.

We've read an interview with the writer, and apparently he's a lazy one:Quote: Cebulski likened the group dynamic of the book to the film “Breakfast Club.” “You’ve got Julie Powers, who’s the princess; you’ve got Darkhawk, who’s the jock,” he said. “They’re the stereotypes that are represented in the ‘Breakfast Club.’” The main thing we're taking issue with:Quote: “You’ve got Julie Powers, who’s the princess; First off, it's Power, no S. Secondly, where the sprock is he getting this "Princess" garbage from? If you're going to just cram well-developed characters into stereotypical niches, Julie's "The Nerd".
This bodes ill.
