The day was growing old and the sun was beginning to set. For the ginger lioness, this was the most exciting part of the day. The less-than-stable creatures were beginning to venture out into the open, promising plenty of entertainment and perhaps even a bit of romance.
Her fur was sleek and shiny, having been groomed meticulously before leaving her den. Matched with her bright brown eyes, the lioness was a pretty sight, a piece of eyecandy for any passing rogues.
Toroka wasn't promiscuous, really, but she wasn't opposed to a good time. She knew where to stop, when it escalated too much... but recently, she had been pushing it, testing herself. How far was too far?
With a yawn, she stretched, flexing her muscles. The sky above was a dark orange, fading quickly into navy. A soft breeze cooled the air down and she let out a content sigh. Yes, this was the prime time of the day.

"I can't believe this!"
Uovu, himself, was not feeling any of the cheer Toroka felt. Instead, the great brute was growling hateful words, words dripping with malice... directed at himself, his mate, and his family. Oh, gawd. He didn't need this. He was sick of Katavi's lectures and her harsh words, sick of hearing about what a fool he was, sick of everything. He knew he was acting like a spoilt child throwing a tantrum, and he knew that he was just as much to blame as his mate was, but he could not help but hate.
He hated everything. Hated the world. Hated his life. Maybe he should just kill himself to spare him the trouble of thinking.
And with that thought, Uovu slammed one shaking paw down into the dust, seized with anger and grief that such a perfect relationship had gone awry. He'd turned into something he'd hated, something weak. Was he really not strong enough to move on? What would Lord Roho think if she saw him like this?
With a shake of his head, he stopped thinking, and with a blank mind walked on. He needed a release. Badly.

Toro blinked at the shout of frustration, tilting her head slightly. The voice was clearly male, but she wasn't sure whether or not it was safe to approach. Of course, being reckless, she decided to seek him out anyway. Lifting her nose to the air, she caught his scent and began to pad in his direction.
Finally, the lanky figure came into sight, his mottled fur causing him to blend into the night. Something tensed within her, as though she felt a greater power, once that she couldn't understand. She was drawn to him, though she didn't know why, and so she approached, trying to shake the unearthly feeling.
"Hello," she purred, although there was an edge of caution in her voice. She wasn't the biggest of lionesses and this lion looked like he could crush her if he wanted to. There was some sort of power behind him, but...
She cleared her mind of the thoughts and decided to let him speak for himself.

"Hello?" Uovu's ears pricked back, and the chocolate lion cast his gaze upon a figure, becoming clearer and clearer as it neared him. He squinted through the bright glare of the setting sun, and tried to take in the identity of the shadow now slinking his way. He couldn't put a paw on it, actually.
His insides twisted a little as he saw that this creature had those slender femine curves that many she-lionesses had, but as he squinted, he saw that her fur was not jet black, but quite a lovely shade of brown.
As she came into focus, Uovu couldn't help but stare. She was quite attractive, he knew that, and her pur had completely caught him off guard. Shaking his head, he collected himself.
Act, Uovu, act.
"Good sundown, young lady," he said, eyes glimmering with curiousity as to why a woman would come towards him at a time like this.

Now knowing that he didn't want to rip her throat out, she relaxed visibly, fluttering her eyelashes. "Good sundown to you too, handsome stranger," she said with a soft chuckle. "You ought to head home soon. I'm sure your mate will be worrying."
"You do have a mate, don't you?" she added as an afterthought. Of course, Toro didn't realize just how close yet far she really was to the truth. "Surely someone as attractive as yourself wouldn't be single...?"

Uovu was a little taken aback by this young lady's up-front approach. He didn't even know her name, let alone where she came from, and already it seemed that she was dipping into his personal life.
Blinking a few times, the male opened his mouth to speak... and then, felt the words wrap around him. They were wonderful, soft words lined with sugary sweetness. Was this girl... flirting with him?
The great brute took one look at her, and then managed a thin smile that stretched from one ear to the other.
"Do... do I have a mate?" he repeated, mindful that he was beginning to sound like a repititious parrot, "I... I..."
Then, he saw that smile of hers. It was mischievous. Wild. It reminded him of his time when he was single, free from the shackles of his relationship with Katavi and his family. With an almost heartless smirk, he pushed Katavi and his cubs right into the back of his mind, and promptly forgot about them.
"I know it's quite astonishing to hear but," he flicked his mane, and approached Toroka with an amused flick of his tail, "I'm single, baby. How about you?"
Was it just him, or were things moving... really fast around here? He didn't know anything about this stranger. He didn't even know what he was doing.

Toro allowed a smirk to pull at her lips as she listened to him return her flirtation. When he posed the question, she padded around him lightly, her movements silky and fluid. "Oh, well," she said, tilting her head innocently. "The other lionesses don't know what they're missing out on. Goodness knows I don't come across someone quite as handsome and charming as you every day."
She stopped, her eyes sparkling. "Me? I'm not tied down, no, not for now at least. Someday, perhaps, but I rather enjoy my freedom for the time being." Toro purred and, as she circled around him again, she allowed her tail to brush against his shoulder for a split second.
"What brings you out here... oh!" She stopped, tilting her head, allowing the tuft of fur between her ears to fall over one eye. "I don't even know your name. I'm Toroka... Toro for short."

"You flatter me," Uovu noticed that he, too, had the start of a pur caught in his throat, vibrating softly, "Although, I'm surprised to see a belle like you without a man. Play hard to get, do you?"
He was a little taken aback at himself, now, that he was so willingly falling to this lionesses' charm. And yet... this was fun. They were both pulling the moves, and he was having a ball, following along. He wasn't sure if he was serious about this lady, but he desperately needed to get his mind off his family problems... and the girl in front of him was moving so... so...
Well, it made his fur stand up on end, really.
"You should really keep yourself free of a leash," the stranger's words of freedom stirred something in his own, undecisive heart, "When you're tied down... you're tied down hard, babe, tied down hard."
And, although he said this, he found himself saying this a little half-heartedly. Somewhere, in his heart, a part of him longed for the strict, yet gorgeous Katavi... but then, he felt that his passion for his mate was dying down, down. He'd rather be having fun. His wild side took over, and he straightened his shoulders, puffed out his chest and raised his chin so as to look confident.
"It's charming to meet you, Miss Toro..." the sentence ran off his tongue easily, as if it were liquid, "It's Uovu."
Without thinking, he extended a forepaw and reached forward, bent on smoothing away the hair from Toroka's eyes.
"Take care," he said, smoothly, "To keep that hair from hiding those pretty eyes of yours, miss. And, to answer your question..."
He paused. Really, he'd just been walking, not really caring about which direction he was headed to. But yet... he felt the strange urge to conceal his relationship with Katavi from this stranger, Toro, and so decided to have a little fun, instead.
"I was just out... uh..." his mind whirred, "Bird-watching."
Well, that was what happened when your brain couldn't keep up with your mouth. He almost kicked himself.
Bird watching?
Not cool. But he managed a sly grin, and hoped that she wouldn't question him further on the matter.
"So, what about you? What brings you here, Miss Toro?"

"Hard to get? Maaaaybe..."
She smiled coyly at him. "A family would be nice... someday. But someday is faaar in the future for me. It's too much fun, wandering the plains, meeting strangers, having good times... not something I'm eager to give up." Her eyes sparkled, a mischevious glint.
When he reached out to brush the fur from her eyes, she fluttered her eyelashes up at him. "Well, Mr. Uovu," she said slowly, "You do know how to flatter a lady, don't you? It seems I'm not the only one used to this game." She rose to her paws and brushed up against him again, her shoulder just barely touching his own. "That's the best way to have it, though... we both know what's happening. Much better than trying to seduce an oblivious male, I think. And much, much more fun."
Toro grinned, her eyes flashing. "Me? Oh, searching for some fun, some adventure, some excitement... the usual." She flicked her tail. "And it seems I've found it, hmm?"

"Hrmmm..." Uovu almost found himself infatuated with this woman. In fact, it seemed like he... was. She was teasing him, maybe, playing with him and his fragile emotions, but in a way that he enjoyed. It was almost like the feeling one gets, as a human, with eating a melted block of chocolate... one lick, one bite, and you can't get enough, and there's that smooth, guilty feeling that you can't shake off.
Uovu was feeling just that. With a grin, he moved closer to Toro, not thinking anymore, but just moving to impulses, getting pulled along by instinct. This felt so good. The guilt felt good. Everything felt right.
"I agree with you, Toro," he murmed, whispering slyly into her ear, "It's nice to meet a girl that's a bit wild for a change. It's real sweet. Real sweet."
"...searching for some fun, some adventure, some excitement... the usual..."
The words were flying past his ear. It was almost like hearing another language, or being in a dream... yet, he understood all she said. He just... couldn't take it in. Why was this happening to him? How had it come to this? Why was he feeling so guilty, so... good?
"I'm excited," he whispered again, and nibbled her ear a little, "Miss Toro... no, just Toro... you sure are an interesting babe."
He'd found someone. But how far would this go?
