One furious leopardess was on her way back to her home in the early afternoon after a failed hunting trip, and even a failed fight with an old enemy. Her back has short lines of dried blood, and below her shoulder was a fair bit more, which was the source of a limp that was slowing the trip down.

Mleli was angry with how the fight had gone. It'd gone well until Tego overpowered her and then decided it would be best to pity her- and not once did she let herself show any weakness or fear. Or so she thought. She did not want or need his pity. Still fuming when she reached her tree, with an injured leg and so shaken, she flopped down beneath it with a snarl instead of climbing it.

Kifuno had been enjoying a leisurely morning sunbathing his golden scales and spending time to digest his food. He had eaten a very large rodent and his stomach buldged slightly. Now as the sun changed positions so that it was blocked by the leaves he slept uneasily, dreaming of the Pridelands and his mother.

He jumped awake at the snarl, startled. His eyes dropping slightly as he looked around his tree for the source of the noise. Is that Mleli?

"Mleli?" He called soflty, his musical voice floating through the air. He glanced up and the looked at the ground, "Are you okay, Lovely Leopardess?" He said uneasily as he spotted the blood. He wriggled awkwardly with his buldging belly and started his way down the tree.

Mleli's head snapped up with an involuntary growl when she suddenly heard Kifuno's musical and far-too cheerful voice call her name. She relaxed her mouth into an angry frown when she realized who it was, and refused to respond to his question right away. She was not in denial herself, but she was not willing to tell anyone what happened. Or so she thought.

Kifuno flinched at the growl and halted in his..tracks.. (Do snakes have tracks?) and did the best he could not to frown, "Misssss Mleli, if you are in need of asssisstance, pleasse let me help, are you alright?" he called again, his voice dropping a few octaves.

He gulped, gathered the courage he could and started his decent towards Mleli, he was too concerned for his tree mate to care if she'd harm him, besides..she'd never hurt him before.

"I do not need any help," she snapped at Kifuno, but relaxed her head a bit again. All adrenaline was now fully drained from the injured leopardess, she was safely at home and now was realizing just how tired and sore she was. The more she realized it, the angrier she felt- she shouldn't even feel this comfortable, but part of her did feel quite lucky.

Kifuno would not be going anywhere, Mleli could easily guess that, and she decided if he was going to occupy space in her tree, he would earn it by listening to her and agreeing with her.

"I ran into an old... friend," she hissed, and glowered at the wound just below her shoulder. It needed to be cleaned, and she would do so when she felt so inclined.

Kifuno was slightly hurt, he assumed that he and Mleli were friends, after all they were living in the same tree.

"Oh, looksss like a bad meeting, how did it go?" He reached the floor and circled around to face Mleli head on. He would be a tentative listener to anything she had to say, and would full heartedly agree. He was like the mafia goon that answered 'what ever you say boss.' He was so young when he left home he had little to no social skills.

Though Mleli didn't act it, Kifuno was likely the highest on her list of "friends". She was too bitter to behave properly, and instead of using the failed attempts on Tego, she was now putting it upon the golden snake to vent her anger.

"Just like you said, bad," she snapped again, rolling her eyes at the poor fellow. A low growl returned to her voice, "I had him, he had to resort to physical attacking."

That was something she could take some pride in, and something she would.

"Asss long as you're alright, I am sure you had him good!" he knew Mleli, well, sort of and he knew she could handle her own. And the fact that she was standing infront of him after being in some form of attack was something to be very proud of.

"Maybe sssome herbss would help you heal..? I heard from a roaming Genet that sssome thorny looking plant isss good with healing?" Of course Kifuno was speaking of aloe vera, it was thin and had spikey "thorns" that were more soft than dangerous.

Mleli gave a sharp growl-purr at Kifuno's certainty that she had him good, though she did not completely appreciate the 'as long as you're alright'- though she knew she shouldn't be, had Tego actually done anything. She stiffened a bit at the herbal remedy suggestion, looking less angry but a bit more intense.

"This will heal fine on it's own," she answered grumpily, "I do not need any herbs, once cleaned it will be ok."

Kifuno couldn't seem to do anything right, he complimented her the best he could, and even offered a way for her to heal faster, but she resisted his attempts.

He slitered to one side awkwardly, the large bulge in his belly looking like a hump, the slithering was the equivalent to snake's pacing. His tongue flicked out allowing him to smell the air around him, and he thought of something to do that would make the large leopardess happy.

Mleli's mood was definetely not Kifuno's fault, and if anything he was being of some help by letting her vent. Her steely eyes watched Kifuno slither about, her eyes stopping on the bulge. Narrowing her eyes, she looked back to Kifuno's face.

"Tell me," she began with a hiss, her tone calming down as she continued, "How is it that you are the only reasonable male I've met?"

It was a compliment, but also partially an unintended insult. She was convinced Kifuno was truly the best of the men she'd ever met, and it surprised and disappointed her.

Kifuno flashed her a reptilian smile and winked at her, unsure if she caught the gesture, "Because, dear one. I believe we're both in the same boat..we don't really like those around us, and we can't catch a man." he was unsure if she caught the odd saying as well. Kifuno..the golden snake..was gayer than a jay bird, and gayer than the day is long.

"I hope you will still accept me..I am erm..have an attraction to males...something about females terrifies me." He was unsure exactly how he had come to this conclusion, but the thought of girls really did scare him.

Mleli was watching Kifuno with narrowed eyes, not at him but at the situation. It was an interesting bit of information to know that one snake was better than most male leopards- so much for her idea that leopard were best. She caught the wink, and caught the confession to liking males.

Her eyes widened to normal size, and she raised an eyebrow at him. She never would have guessed, and it was quite the distracting bit of information to here.

"Well, that is interesting," she commented, and snorted at his hope that he would still be accepted, "Don't be foolish, why would I care if you prefer males over females?"

"I am not sure... I would assume to most it would seem unnatural," he said softly, his musical voice deepening with a shade of embarrassment," I don't think I'll ever find a love..."

"So tell me, will you go after this leopard..make him pay? Or woudln't you prefer finding yourself something to eat?" he doubted she would want to do either, she seemed tired to him.

"I won't say it's natural, but it's not hurting me any," she shrugged, sounding as selfish as she usually did at that comment. If Kifuno didn't care for females, he wasn't hurting anyone. It just mean maybe he'd not end up carrying on in the next generation, but it was mostly the body that cared about that and not the mind. Especially in her case.

"I will make Tego pay," she said with total seriousness, "I will not rush into it now, but I will find a way. As for hunting, I am not hungry at the moment."
