My parents yell at me everyday about how i dress, how i act, etc. they say goths are satanic.i can't even try to reason with them, because when i bring up a good, christian point, they either ignore the comment or threaten to ground me if i talk about it again.its really frustrating because i love them, but they can be really stubborn if i happen to disagree with them.they hate my music, even though its christian metal, and its a struggle over image everyday,. what should i do???

O my god! I know what yu mean! My parents do the same thing. What I do is try and avoid the while conversation and if it comes up I just say that I understand where their comeing from, but I'm trying to reform the whole Image of goth-punk. But that may only work on my parents.

it might sound silly but CONFRONT THEM.
Tell them:
MATTHEW 7

I know what you mean. The most fustrating thing is when you have to yell to get your point out, because that just helps their side hat we are all anti-family and whatnot. I finally sent them the home page to www.christiangoth.com. that helped some.

well i know what you are going through and that you should be who you are and they'll come around to see that it didn't hurt your faith, thats what happened with me so, if it doesn't work I'm sure other people have the answer ^_^

I too went through this but I prayed that GOD whould have his will be done and the next day my mom came over to me and said "son I was praying last night, and GOD gave me the fealing that I should let you have those 'Goth' clothes you want, and see if it causes problems with your faith" then she took me to hottopic and I bought a buch of "Goth" clothes this was last year and now I have become a better christian not because of the "Goth" aka tripp clothes in fact they are just clothes and if your parents don't like them why should you care but because of my new wordrobe I have gotten to witness to people that I couldent have before and my favorite part is the other day my mom came up to me and said "son I am so proud of who you are as a person, you have grown into a young man that I am very proud of, don't let anyone change who you are"

Honey, don't blame them. In there time, it was true that goths were satanic figures. They stick to old habits. Just let them yell. Their throats get sore after a while. ^_^

i guess that i got lucky. my father never realy cared about my relationship with christ (not so lucky) nor did he care about my style of dress(w00t). he would poke fun (good naturedly) at my makeup. or my clothes but he never said he didn't like it. my step mother gave alot of resistance to the goth look because she figured it made her look bad. so i made a simple comrimise. i left off the collar the chains the makeup and the fishnet while i was within her range of vision. i have gotten alot of crap however from the christian comunity. at a conference last year i was quite tempted to leave altogether when i was told to remove my collar. i have my own unique way of putting christians in their place though. the verses Victum gave are my personal favorites. but the best method i can testify to is christain symbols tattooed into you. in mid-berating all i have to do is haul up my sleeve and ask "which way does this cross point?"
