Iola squinted an eye shut to the filtered rays of sun that managed to leak threw the cracks of rocks that shielded her from the mid-morning sun. The cub's mouth was pressed into a thin line of indecipherable negativity. Because the only thing clear from that expression was that it wasn't pleased, Iola layen sprawled against her rock 'bed' for over an hour now, and Mo was nowhere to be seen. The pair had been traveling together for afew days now and this was the second time she awoke to find her companion nowhere to be seen. If this was yesterday she would have had a panic attack and went surging out of the den in search of the male. But not today, today she was going to wait him out. Or at least try to wait him out before breaking down, and bolt out of the opening of the den. She gritted her teeth just thinking about. Whats he doing? WHAT IS HE DOING?! She thought angrily, a growl broke free from her throat and she shook her head vigorusly. "No...noo....he wouldn't leave me. No...." Iola flexed her claws, them making a sound much like nails across the chalkboard. The girl lowered her head to the rock beneath her in defeat. "Just awhile longer..." She grunted, her tail lashing behind her.

Moyenda picked his way across the plains carefully. He wasn't too worried. Laini was next to him and a self-proclaimed hunting champion at that. Iola wasn't quite on his mind although she was his destination. Well, quite frankly, he wasn't exactly thinking of anything. But as if Iola's wrath could travel long distance, it pinged thoughts of her into his head and he turned to Laini.
"So, be nice to Iola when you meet her. She's a bit defensive," he said. He hadn't told Laini yet that Iola was only a juvenile. He didn't know what age Laini assumed Iola was. Mo had kind of been sort of shady on the details.
He quickly noticed they were approaching the den and quickened his pace until he was before Iola. "Hey," he sang. "I want you to meet my niece, Laini'ukungu." He grinned like a cub bringing its mom its first catch.
Laini studied Moyenda as they walked. She didn't know much about him and her first impression hadn't been good. It was getting better but only with baby steps. That he had someone was surprising. How could he get anyone less submissive and weak as he? How could such a lioness still be alive? He had to be some catch but Laini frankly couldn't see it. He was lacking in the good qualities department.
"Yeah, yeah," she replied. So the lioness was more gentle than Moyenda. "I'll be nice." She thought secretly she wouldn't but if the lioness was just as crafty as Moyenda, which was at a snail's level, she doubted the lioness would be able to realize.
Then the lioness came into view. Only... it wasn't an adult. Shocked, she widened her eyes and drew in a deep breathe. Her uncle had hooked up with a juvenile?! She quickly recovered and smiled as best she could.

Iola's erect ears picked up the faint sound of on coming paws. But where they the steps that belonged to Mo? The cub stood uneasily and took a step towards the den's opening noticing two figures blocking her path, the bright light from outside blinding her, Iola rose a paw to shield her eyes, as the shadowy figures closed in they revealed to lions. One of them familiar. Uttering a loud huff, the cub gave a brief of relief. He came back! She thought, feeling the weight of her worry wash away. "Where were-?" She began, only to be cut off by the older males explanation. Iola eyed the female beside him, "Ohhh...well. Hello." She stated uncomfortably. Rising a paw she waved it meekly, wiggling her paw-tips. She had no clue what a niece was. Iola offered an awkward but polite smile, back at her. There was alot of negative energy in the room. And when someone was feeling uncomfortable she felt the same.
Iola coffed into her paw, clearing her throat to break the silence. "Soooo...whats a niece?" Her voice was shaky, her eyes unable to stay on just one of the two lions, she was constantly changing directions. She felt strangely enclosed in the den now. Once empty and cold, was now dangerously small, and was it just her or was it starting to get alittle hard to breath?

"A niece is someone's sibling's child, silly. So, she's my sister's child," he said with a smile and a nod. Her personality amused him so. He was glad that Iola didn't appear to think that Laini was something more because she wasn't - and explaining such would have been just ackward. Plus, had she decided to attack Laini because of suspisions, that could've been disasterous. He shook his mane, simply feeling the need to, and came over to sit next to Iola. "So..." he said.
Laini opened her mouth to speak to the clueless juvenile but Mo beat her to it. She blinked and huffed, looking off to the side as he explained. What was the point of all of this? He had told her she could travel with him and his partner. He had explained briefly that his partner was a girl but nothing more. Her assumptions had led her astray. She blinked some more and then wrinkling her nose, looked back at Iola. She had no clue what to do now, much less how she should orally be responding to all of this.

"Sister's child....?" Just as Mo took a seat next to her, Iola figured out what he meant. "Family!" She concluded, her eyes widened by her new found realization. Iola stood up and padded closer towards the lioness. Her paws causing small puffs of dust to rise in the den. "Heeellllooooo." She cooed, again greeting her. "No need to be shy. We are all family here!" Iola tried to peak from behind the lioness's turned shoulder. The cub rose a paw and pressed it aginst Laini's shoulder blade nudging it lightly. "I'm sure Mo's told you my name. Buuuutttt....I think it's best if I introduced myself. I'm Iola." She had no trouble in talking to the other's turned back. If it was family there was no shame. No worry. The young femme was willing to share the already small den with the female if she was family, anyone who was family. "Where were you?" She asked, her paw still pressed firmly against the other's shoulder. "Are there more of your family around?" Upon saying that Iola looked back at Mo, to show the question was meant for him too.

Iola was taking it quite well, he noticed. "Yes, sister's child." he said with a nod. He smiled warmly and satisfied. Upon touching Laini though, he became alarmed, unsure of how well Laini would respond. He had told her about Iola and to be nice to her but he wasn't quite sure if Laini would listen to him. Afterall, she had no reason to want to do so. He frowned in slight agitation and worry. He watched Laini and awaited her response, ready to jump in and fix things if need be.
Iola was bubbled over with excitement so much so that it alarmed Laini and put her off. Her tendencies told her to shun the juvenile and move on but the questions the girl asked overruled such tendencies. "Where was I? Well, I was growing up," time to brag, "exploring everywhere, fighting every creature that came in my path, all in search of family. Are there any left? Well, I don't know. Just met my uncle, Moyenda, here quite frankly. What do you see in him anyway?" Laini threw a mean look at Moyenda to imply exactly what she meant with that question, hoping to alarm him. His eyes were already wide but putting him farther on the edge might be a fun little comeback for his "miscommunication."

The cub's erected ears perked slightly higher as the lioness began to weave her story. Trapping the cub much like a fly on a web. Iola's eyes widened and twinkled in intrigue. She could only imagine what types of beasts the female encountered. She could picture what far off lands the femme had seen. And ALL in search of family! This lioness put Iola to shame. The cub had spent her few months of life roaming around the savanna, it never dawned on her that her family might have been...somewhere else. "That's sooooo cool." She said dreamily, her eyes now half lidded. "Your so co-" The cub trailed off. What did she just say!? Iola's eyes narrowed, as she watched the female make a meaningful glance towards Mo...a hateful one!? The cub couldn't distinguish the difference between the two. "HEY!" She snapped, shoving her paw into the other in an attempt to push her over. "Don't talk that way about MY mate!" Her words came out spiteful, and possessive. Iola shot a fiery glare at the older woman, completely uncaring of the huge age gap, and what the other was capable of doing to her. Iola turned and sauntered back towards Mo, soothingly brushing her head against his arm. Her eyes still holding Laini's. "How could you say that!? He's does just fine in...ummm..." Iola rose her eyes to the top of the cave in search of words in Mo's defence. "....he makes for good company!" Yeah, that was a good one! "And is a great pillow!" She stated smugly, her tail swishing. With saying that she slapped her paw on the fur that surrounded his head making it apparent that, it was her 'pillow'.

Moyenda observed first, his niece respond to Iola with that creepy look in his direction and second, Iola's defense. the "just fine in" kind of scared him a bit. They hadn't really done anything. What kind of lion would he be if they had? Hopefully, Laini wouldn't get the wrong message. That'd be wrong - and bad - on so many levels. He endeared the pat on his head and looked to Laini to see how she was taking this. "Well, Iola, you make a good.... blanket." he decided with a nod. The den was getting kind of hot. ...or was that just him?
Laini smiled at the kid. Laini cool? Hey, this kid wasn't that bad! Good company and a pillow... well, everyone got their kicks somehow, right? Apparently that was all he was good for. She laughed internally at that, only a smirk showing on her face to reflect her inner thoughts.
She turned to Mo at his response. A good blanket? Wow, he was hilarious. Laini was surprised at the humor she was exhibiting with such things. "Moyenda, you realize that's not what mates do right? Or are you really that daft?" she laughed.

Iola beamed at the praise for her 'comfyness', well that's what she heard in her mind at least. "Thank you.....I know!" She agreed, she nodded her head cutely, resting a paw on her own chest in self admiration. Oh yes...she liked this conversation. Iola peeked open an eye at Laini to see her grinning? Iola opened her mouth to banter her, on the expression, but the female beat her in reply. Iola clamped shut her maw, the conversation taking a screeching turn. That comment flew right over the cub's head. She had no clue how to respond to that...not only that, but the question wasnt directed to her, though anyother time it wouldn't have stopped her in responding. Mates dont sleep together? The cub sat perplexed at the thought, surely they shared the same den and night...assuming they had one. "What do they do then?" Her voicing ringing with innocent curiosity.

"Laini..." Moyenda said, pleading with her. Why was she stating it? Couldn't she tell Iola didn't know, that Iola would ask? Laini was proving to be quite difficult. Of course he knew what mates did. And surely she knew that he knew about mates.
He laughed nervously at Iola's question. What do mates do? "Well, mates.... love each other..."
Laini chuckled at Iola's question and Moyenda's weak response. She had really put him in an ackward situation now. Perhaps it was her own way at getting revenge for the fact that he wasn't like she expected. He was a big disappointment, another person she'd probably have to play nanny for ...if she stayed around of course. "Mates, Iola, not only love each other but express it intimately. Moyenda can demonstrate for you if you want. Of course, you should wait until after I'm not here." Laini was having fun making a fool out of Moyenda but of course, she didn't want to view the concequences of such.

The cub stared blankly at the adult male. "I already knew that Moyenda..." She retorted, with no hint of compassion to his awkwardness. What was up? Why was he acting like this? Then Iola realized....Laini had the same gift she had on him. The power made him shake and his voice creak. Laini was proving to be an astonishingly great role model!
"Demonstrate?" Something was going on here that she wasnt getting. She could see it in both Laini's and Mo's eyes, like it was some inside joke and she wasnt clued in on it. "How about you demonstrate this...'intimately' to me?" She asked cutely, though her eyes challenging. "Hows it done then?" The cub broke away from Mo's side and started for the lioness again. "I mean...You can show me can't you?" The last two words she seemed to spat at her. There was a mocking to her voice as if to intimidate Laini enough into showing her. Iola was sure if she was going to be taught correctly it'd be from Laini, with her vast knowledge from far off lands she surely knows more than her mate. The young femme now siting before the lioness, barley blocked the entrance to the den. If Mo tried to make a hasty escape it'd be easy for her to give chase.

Moyenda hung his head. It was a loosing battle he was fighting. Demonstrate? Oh if only Iola knew what she was asking. Regardless of anything, he couldn't in no way shape or form "demonstrate" how it was done, Laini either, at least not until Iola was older. And even then, it'd still be ackward. He noticed she was no longer asking for it to come from him but it was still.... out of the question.
"Well, I'm glad you two both seem to understand the basis." She said. But her plan was viciously backfiring. Laini show this kid? Show this kid who had suddenly become angry and demanded, a kid Laini could send tumbling backwards with the flip of a paw? "Well, I certainly can't show you. Moyenda.... might lack the certain equipment for it." oouusshh! She was suddenly regretting her attack on Moyenda and his relationship. "It always works out better if your older..." why was she helping Moyenda now? Well, to save her own sanity in the developing situation.

Iola flexed her miniature claws into the rock beneath her. Like one does with one's fingers when bored and taps the tips of there fingers against a desk making a rhythmic tune. How quickly everyone was turning away to teach her. Even though they were the ones who brought up the subject. "So...your not going to show me?" She protested, a whine coating her words. The cub looked from Mo to Laini. Laini looked sickened at the thought, and well....Mo didnt look much better. The cub stared at both equally, wishing to get taught something out of one of them. "His equipment works just fine! His is just like everyone else's! Its...its better, even!" She called to defence on Mo's part, probably making matters worse. "And mine works too!" She added shortly after, she didnt want to be left in the conversation short handed, even though she really didnt have the 'equipment' Laini was talking about. But then, she had no clue what 'equipment' was to begin with. "And whats this about me being older? Am I not old enough? I've got a mate don't I?" Iola pointed in the derection of Mo, as if Laini didnt already know who she was referring to. "So, if you think he's not able to teach me properly then I want you!" How seriously she was taking this would have been laughable by an observer.

Mo continued to stare at the ground, trying to think of all the things he could have done to deserve this. Some things were never meant to be discussed and this was perhaps one of them. He felt a little bit grateful that Laini was trying to back out but not his vindicative side considering it was more likely to save her own hide than anyone else's ...and she had brought it up in the first place. Backing out only went so far with a determined, demanding Iola around. And just as he thought this, Iola's words were heard, practically confirming his thoughts. She didn't even know what equipment was. ...so of course, he became just a bit nervous at the fact. He was going to have to try to fix it himself. "Iola, every lion and lioness has the said 'equipment' that they need. However, this 'equipment' doesn't work until you've reached a certain age. Therefore, it wouldn't work if you tried at such an age ...and it's a bit inappropriate. Let's put it this way: if I tried to demonstrate to you what Laini's talking about, something that happens better a girl and a boy, your dad would skin me alive and let the vultures feed on me." Hopefully the mental picture was enough to influence her.
Laini really felt the need to run away. She, herself, who lacked a proper unbringing barely understood how the whole process worked and she was sure she didn't want any help trying to demonstrate it, or observe it for that matter. She looked at Mo with pleading eyes. Although he didn't look at her, he did make a reply. It was definitely a good start at least. "Oh-hohoho, you don't want me. I certainly couldn't teach you. It has to happen between a male and a female ...preferably adults. Although, well, if you're a teenager, I suppose it's ok." Laini picked at one of her paws with the other. "You know what? I'm hunger. Think I'll head out and go get something to eat."

Iola turned back to Mo when she noticed it was going to be a lengthy response. And the all too vivid image of him laying lifelessly on the ground with vultures scattered around his corpse sent a chill down her spine. She would NEVER let that happen to him. But still....Mo had knowledge and he wouldn't lie to her....maybe that's what parents do. Keep their young from 'intimately' with someone. Her brows furrowed, and a deep frown was set upon her features. "Fiiiinnnneeee...." She sighed, eyes rolling.
"But you just said-" Iola's ears pressed back against her skull, as she began to protest, but was cut off when Laini abruptly changed the subject. And of course with her childs ADD, Iola's train of thought changed from 'intimately' and 'equipment' and images of a dead Mo; to food, and she then realized how hungry she was from going a full morning without anything to eat. "Wait! Take us with you!" She pleaded, because not only was she hungry but she knew she wouldn't stand to stay in the den any longer that day. She needed some fresh air. "Come on Mo! Lets go hunt with her!" Iola raced over to, and behind him. Picking up his tail with her mouth and tugging on it firmly Iola playfully hoped around behind him. Her normal erratic behavior surging threw her ten fold because her energy was held all morning with.....talking.
