Apocalypse is no longer a hidden rumour, indeed it is being thrown around quite a whole lot.
What is Apocalypse? It is a new scenario book so to say that allows players to fight battles of 3.000+ pts. per side. As an added bonus for these missions, the rule of having to ask your opponent for permission to use super heavy units is removed. (Read: Only Apocalypse missions allow you to field super heavies without your opponents consent. Normal 40k missions still require you to ask)
Recent guesstimates say that it will be released around Fall and will feature the release of a plastic Baneblade kit for the Imperial Guard and a plastic Stompa kit for the Orks.
Please feel free to post all thoughts, rumours and whatnots related to Apocalypse here.

I'm assuming this would herald super-heavies for most of the armies.

Think big tanks and other designs that can easily be churned out as plastic kits. Baneblades are iconic for the might of the Imperial Guard, where as Stompas are mini Gargants that examplify Orks. I was personally expecting big battle wagons, but a Stompa (as previewed during Medusa V last year) is a welcome adition to 40k.
Eldar could get a big grav-tank, maybe the Scorpion, Chaos could get a big possessed vehicle/icon of sorts, though I personally believe that not all armies are in need of super heavy vehicles all of the sudden.

Well, some people have been waiting a wee bit longer for this news now sweatdrop At least 7 years in my case...
Once they're up for pre-order I'm planning on getting a complete squadron of three in one go.

The only super heavy in plastic will be the Baneblade. Its going to be much like the Cities of Death with the stratagems, in the sence that if you take an entire company of marines you get bonuses if you take a detachment (yes 3!) Baneblades/stormswords etc you get a bonus. Its going to be nasty!

Sounds fair to me.

Any idea if the codex includes scenarios, etc for aircraft? I think armies that dont have a super heavy probably have a fighter or somehting on forge world, not that Ive checked every section, but I think every army had at least one or the other.
Though im a marine player I might just have to get a bane blade. Too kick a** of a model to pass up.

-Mykal Nah, too overpowered. Besides the Inquisition already has orbital bombardments of various kinds. I personally think that flyer's wont be given a high priority. I think that GW will put the focus more on the really big land battles. I am looking forward to seeing just what these bonuses might be.
