When Reizt decided he was done walking for the day, the cream-colored female discovered he was boring like WOAH. Today, instead of lingering around in the shade for 'break time', the white-and-black splotched female went running off to play in the grass, tail wagging.
Happily, with dried grass, came the adolescent's ability to blend in.... aside from her little black ears and paws.
But if she played her cards right, nobody would see her.
So the very UNstealthy (hey, she didn't have to hunt.. ) Kinyegele went sneaking through the grass as loudly as humanly (Wild-Dogly? ) possible, tripping almost everything possible and sending small animals scattering through the grass to get away from her as QUICKLY as possible.
"Rrrrrr.." she growled, possibly the most unthreatening creature of the savannah as she prowled.
The grass ran-out, however, and Kinye ran almost head-first into a rock, bonking her nose on it. The almost-pup like female popped up into a sitting position and rubbed the poor snout with a paw. "OWIE!"

Oh, it was such a beautiful day! The sun was shining and there was a faint, refreshing breeze. Kichanga trotted through the tall grass with his head and tail held high. He hummed to himself an improvized tune with which he was reasonably pleased. He admired the sheen of a passing beetle which buzzed through the air. The sky was a lovely blue. For once, Kich was even pretty well fed, having gotten the last half of a gazelle carcass abandoned by a startled pair of leopards.
He was at first only mildly curious of the rattling in the grass ahead of him. He heard all the sniffing and growling, and saw some frightened field mice dart by. Probably just some playful pup, he thought. And then he saw the young girl emerge from the grass only to run straight into a boulder which sat at the foot of a ridge. Ouch. Kichanga grimmaced sympathetically then trotted up to her. He was a little surprised to note that she was an adolescent girl... not a pup at all... but all the same, he eyed her with concern as he approached. "Pardon me, miss," he said, "But are you alright?" He cocked his head to the side, questioningly, and stood a short distance away to give her her space until he knew he was welcome. It was the proper thing to do.

The first words out of her mouth were an invitation for all to question her sanity, or at least if she'd gotten brain-damage by bopping her nose. "THE ROCK ATTACKED MEEEEE" she wailed in a histrionic manner, all but flopping onto her side in a sort of 'woe is I' way, before realizing that there was someone else there.
And he'd spoken. GASP!
Kinye grinned in a sort of 'Hee hee, I meant to do that' sort of way, tail thumping against the ground. "Um.. sure I did. I mean, I walk rock-first into my head.. er.. my head-first into rocks all the time!" Kinye said, the grin staying on her maw as she tried to cover up the fact she'd not been looking where it was she was going to begin with.
".... I mean..."
Pause.
".. I didn't really answer the question, did I?" Kinye asked, ears drooping a bit as she realized that this person was a total stranger and she'd already made an idiot out of herself.
But then something else, far surpassing in her mind came to be. "... Wait...." she seemed to consider something, before she rose to her paws, scrutinizing the male. ".. You seem to be of the male variety.. but.... you.... can speak without me having to say anything first." she weighed this for a minute.
".. Amazing! GUYS CAN TALK ON THEIR OWN!"

Kichanga smiled and chuckled a little at her wailing and moaning. Well, she wasn't a pup, but she was cute like a pup, and she was amusing. Who knows, she just might make his day? He sat back and waited for her to pay him mind, and smirked a little at her embarassment and cover-up attempt. Silly girl, answering questions that hadn't even been asked. Yeah, she seemed pretty embarassed, and when she drooped he said, "It's okay, it's..." But he didn't get a chance to finish his thought.
He was caught off guard a bit by her observation of his maleness. "Um... yes... at least, I was the last time I checked," he murmured. And his eyes widened at her slightly delayed exclamation. Oookay. That was a little weird. No sweat, though. He relaxed and allowed himself to grin again, and said, "Yeah, actually, some of us can do that. It's kind of remarkable, really." He bowed low, then rose again with a flick of his tail. "My name is Kichanga, but you can call me Kich, if you like. It's a pleasure to meet you." And he was earnest about that too... she really was a pleasure to meet. She was...
...interesting.

Her eyes seemed to widen as he explained how common the observation she'd made actually was in the broader aspect of things. She almost seemed to gasp as this came to settle in her mind. "But... I always have to poke Reizt to talk! And he doesn't until I've been nagging for a while.." she added, almost seeming to leer over one shoulder back behind her. Ooooh, Kinye knows you secret NOW mr. Blue-man.
Kinyegele didn't dwell on what was behind her for long, though, as she turned back to the male at hand who talked ON HIS OOOOWN, her head tilting to the side so one ear flopped over an eye as he bowed. Her expression grew to be puzzled as she stumbled through her mind internally on how to react to such a thing.
"... Kichan..ga.." she repeated, seeming to stumble over the name, before settling on 'Kich' for now. She couldn't even remember Reizt's full name at times, or even her own.
"Nice to meetcha!" she beamed, "I'm Kinyegele... but you should just call me Kinye. It's easier!" the cream-colored girl chimed in reply, tail going back to wagging at a billion miles per hour.

Her surprise delighted him. It didn't take much to interest her or make her happy, it seemed, and this was good news to Kich, who liked to make others happy as much as he could. She muttered a bit about a friend of hers, and Kichanga shook his head a bit while her head was turned and she wasn't looking. This Reizt character probably didn't have enough patience for this girl. Not that Kich himself had much patience, but he had better patience for people (dogs?) than for other things. Just as long as they were good at heart, and wasn't this kid just the picture of innocence? "I'm sure your friend Reizt has a good reason for not speaking up much," was all he said. He didn't want to get the poor guy in trouble, after all.
But now the conversation drifted back to the introduction. He watched carefully her confusion and her wrestling over his name. "I know, it's kind of a mouthful," he said of his own name, not actually meaning a word he said, but wanting to make her feel better about not being able to say it. When she got back to introducing herself, he smiled. "Kinye... nice name. I like it." He observed her tail casually and wondered if perhaps it was going to fall off if it kept going like that.

"A good reason? His reason is that he'd rather be alone than with me!" she pouted, ears drooping a bit, bringing the tail that probably would end up falling off, to a halt. "At least he implies such." she added, but soon enough the pep returned to her attitude, and almost as suddenly she was up to her paws, her front legs dropping to brush against the ground in sort of a playful manner. Her rump wa sticking up in the air due to the pose she was pseudo-standing in, and her tail had started to go off again.
"I like my name too!" she beamed, reaching out with a paw to tag him, as if challenging him to a game, eyes pleading to be played with. She was so bored most of the time, it seemed as though she'd found a potential playmate for herself.
At least she was hoping so.
"Do you play tag?" she asked, almost wondering if adults forgot how to play and were boring without being nagged into play. That certainly seemed the case most of the time.

Kichanga frowned a little, watching Kinye pout. He hated seeing anyone upset, it hurt his heart and made him heave a sigh just to relieve it. In this wild dog's humble opinion, this girl probably needed some better friends. "Well, I'm sorry your friend can't be more sociable," said Kich, uncertain of what else to tell her.
Not that he really seemed to need to reassure her, because she was quickly back in good spirits, which in turn put Kich at ease. He grinned. So his compliment had perked her up? Well good. At least he was some help. His eyes roved curiously about her batting paws as she tried to initiate play. He was uncertain of what she was getting at until she asked. "Tag?" he murmured, thinking. "Yeah. I've played tag. It's kinda been a while, though. I haven't played since I was a pup." He shrugged. "I guess I could play a few rounds with you, if that's what you want." He figured he could use some of the child-like energy of play himself, though he hoped his old muscles and bones didn't give out on him. He was not the dog he used to be, that was for sure. But... c'est la vie.

SCORE!!! This isn't some old complanitive FOGEY!
Indeed, that was the only 'victory' Kinye needed to have in her new playmate, brushing her paws against the ground in the same way a dog would at dirt to dig (though she met the 'dog' criteria, she -WASN'T- digging in the least.
"Sweet! I promise I won't break anything.." of yours. she beamed, tail wagging before she got up, prancing about in a gleeful circle in the grass. Kinye was EXCITED to have a playmate. Especially one who wasn't a big ol' GROUCH like Reizt was all the time.
"And if you need help, I can remind you how the game is played... for now..."
One little black paw sloooooowly reached out, as if she was trying to be sneaky with the motion, tapping her toes lightly on the male's shoulder, before squealing and running off into the grass.
"YOOOOOU'RE IIIIIIT~" she called out behind her.

Kich watched Kinye get down into playful mode, pawing about and wagging her tail. She amused him. He wondered, idly, how long a game of tag lasted. He really couldn't remember. Oh well, didn't matter much. He remembered, basically, how to play. He laughed when she promised not to break anything. He could appreciate a joke at his expense. "I thank you for the kindness," he said through his smirk as he watched her prance around him. "And I think I remember the rules well enough. I'll be fine."
Then all of a sudden... okay, not all of a sudden... all of a gradually, he was tagged. He laughed aloud to himself as she ran off, feeling all sly and pleased with herself. He heaved himself up onto all fours and ran as fast as he could. Of course, as fast as he could wasn't very fast at all: not as fast as Kinye for sure. She was younger, more energetic, more spry. He knew he'd never catch up with her. He'd just have to outsmart her. Therefore, he got down onto his belly and crawled under a bush, waiting for her to come back looking for him.
...
Wow, waiting sucked. He tapped his paw impatiently as he waited.

But her childish habits were well predicted as, not that long (to her) later, the little cream-colored girl came trotting back, seeming confused that she'd somehow lost her playmate!
".. I said -tag-! Not Hide'n'seek, silly!" she called out as she retraced her steps through the grass to try and find Kich, even attempting to find her own scent to see if she could smell herself on him. But for some strange reason (that she should have seen coming), EVERYTHING smelled like her around there, leaving her to have to wander in a circle hopelessly..
Or at least back to their little meeting place, ears and tail drooped sadly.
"Kiiiiich? Where did you GOOOOOO?" she whimpered, the complete 'nasal whistling' noise coming along with the inquiry.
Oh, Kinye was -so- pathetic, but she was far to naive to realize that just now. Perhaps she'd grow into her bits of intelligence she seemed to have every now and then.. (probably that would come after Reizt told her where babies came from.. )
Little did she know, she was working right with the old boy's trap..

He scented her on the wind before he ever even heard her approaching. For a moment he froze and sniffed the air, making sure it was her. Yep. That was Kinye alright. Then he heard her call out to him. He grinned. It was working after all. His tail wagged fiercely behind him in anticipation. He wished he could make it stop, and it took forever for it to occur to him to sit on it to keep it still.
With all the ruckus he was making, he was surprised she didn't see the brush waving or hear him moving around. But no, she was too busy sniffing about and trying to follow her own trail. Soon, he heard her whining, sharply, practically right in his ear. He cringed, but that meant it was about time to strike. Just a second longer. Just a second longer. Aaaaaaand...
NOW!
He sprung forth from the bushes and jabbed her in the shoulder with an off-white forepaw. "TAG!" he shouted and, cackling, exploded from the undergrowth like a startled prey animal, charging for the nearest ridge. Oh, this was good for him. As he felt the wind whip through his fur, he felt like a kid again.

She all but shrieked when he lept out at her, almost falling into the grass to hide herself and scramble away to the safety of her friend's side. But the figure she saw running from her was familiar, and her mind suddenly cued to chase after him, giggling and wagging her tail happily.
She'd found him!
Well, he'd found her, but that was a little technicality that she wasn't really thinking about right then. VICTORY WAS HERS AFTERALL!
As soon as she caught up with him at least. Which, with his head start, was going to be a bit of a chore for little Kinye, with her little tired-from-walking-all-day-and-very-short limbs, no matter how much energy she had to her name.
"I'll get you!" she yelled after him, forcing said little 'tiny limbs' to carry her towards where it was she was desiring to go.
Though at that point in time, she was hoping for at least to be close enough to bat at his tail.

At first he'd been afraid he'd scared her too much... but he ultimately figured that she'd live. He could hear her pick herself up behind him, and when he heard her giggle he knew she was alright. He grinned, toothily, showing his fangs, and he drove himself up the ridge as hard as he could.
As difficult as it may have been for a tired Kinye to run uphill, it was that much more difficult for Kichanga. Not only had he been traveling all day as well, but he was much older, and didn't have Kinye's child-like energy. Trying to run uphill felt like setting his muscles on fire. He panted heavily, and eventually he had to pause to catch his breath.
Seeing Kinye catching up with him, he sighed. "Oh coconuts..." he muttered in polite frustration. He looked uphill... he really didn't want to run up there. He looked downhill... Kinye was closing in fast. He pretty much had two options (as he was not considering quitting the game as an option at this point). He could either stay here and be tagged, or...
He gritted his teeth, bared down, and then sent himself rolling down the hill, like a furry brown snowball, gathering speed as he went. "Wheeeeeeee!" he cried out, unable to contain himself. There are some things one never loses from puppyhood if they're lucky, and one of those things is the enjoyment of the thrill of going really, really fast.

SCREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEECH!
If the world had been anymore animated then it was, there would've been a 5 foot long skidmark behind the halted teenager with smoke rising up from it due to her -LOVELY- halt. However, there was no room for wishful thinking as Kinye's brain had just turned from 'tag' to 'OMGLETSRUNFAST!'.
Indeed, the adolescent spun around and started to bolt down the hill as well, pondering in her mind if it would be possible for her to outrun the male with the headstart. Indeed, she probably could have, but partway down she lost her running footing and went TUMBLING, rolling rather fast on her side and stomach, rotating, and going off into the grass again, a large clump of the vegetation depressed amongst all of it's family to accomodate for the sudden mass of WD that was still young enough to have puppy fat she was burning into muscle.
It wasn't like she was watching her weight or anything, however.
"Mmmm.." she complained, sitting up and flattening her ears back against her head, looking ready to complain, before suddenly blurting out.
"THAT WAS SO FUN!"
