No i don't mean the puppets. ¬¬
I love the legends of the giant Thunder Birds and have researched them for ages. I was wondering if anyone here had heard any stories about them or if they thought they could be real.
I rememeber once watching a show (I think it was called 'Monsters, Myths and Man') that shown that it might have been possible for birds of this size to really have lived.
The legend has also been linked to other legends and Myth about giant birds.

Wiki has absolutely tonnes on the Thunderbird; I've only ever heard the Thunderbird mentioned in tandem with the Roc, which I don't have much info on aside from Wiki. :/

I've heard of these before, and find them absolutely fascinating. One of my favorite tales is that of the Piasa bird, even though it looked a bit more like a chiimera-dragon thing than a bird. I first read about it in a book of Illinois ghost stories, and that one made me proud to be in the area. 3nodding http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Piasa Here it is for the curious.

I've heard about the thunder bird thing. I haven't seen any but they didn't really interset me. I heard the name came from theses giants birds that lived in the old days. Back when indians were still part of the economy. The birds would come in the fog and destroy crops and take away the children to high mountains and eat them there. They would kill the men and women like they were nothing. That really creepy.

This reminded me of something I had read about. I wasn't sure if it was the same thing, cause what they described sounded like a terradactyl, but I was searching for it again to see if it might have been the same thing. Didn't find it yet, but I found something on these. Quote: KY Thunderbird Report Submitted: 10/10/05 by Deltaredlegion@hotmail.com Date: 2005 around 4:00 pm County: Bullitt City: unknown Length of Time: 30 seconds Witnesses: 3 Encounter: After returning home from a trip to Bernheim Forest on a very windy day I looked out the window to see a large bird in a field with cows. The bird was standing just a few yards from a angus bull that was full grown. The ground was very level so the measurement in height is very accurate. A gust of wind came and the bird leapt up in the air and started flying away. I saw it flying for about 5 seconds so I had time to judge the size because one wing was longer then the bull. Description: It was 4 1/2 to 5 feet tall had a falcons head and feathers not skin covering it. There was black on the top of it and brown on the belly. The tail was white and there were white speckles on the wing tips. The wing span was 14 to 16 feet in width. The talons were very dark and I didn't look at them very well but the wings were just like a predatory birds not a scavengers as in made for speed. They where in a triangle unlike the box that vulture's wings form. Additional Information: There were other very common birds in the area because the wind made it a good day for large birds to fly. Recently I was on a trip to the Grand Canyon. I saw VERY large bird when I was looking around. It was too big to be a condor. We could see it on a ock fro about 20 miles away. Its the biggest bird I have ever seen. I wish I could have gotten a picture of it.
