DarkFireAngel
It was dark; she didn't truthfuly mind it however. Night or daytime, what did it matter right now, she thought as languid blue eyes surveyed the savana. Dark or light, was there any real diference? Swift and slow, love or hate. It was all the same, if one thought about it, wasn't it?

She tried to convince herself that it didn't matter, that it was nature's way, life's law. But no matter how many times she denied her own responsibility, she could not seem to force it away; that darkness curled around her, clutched at her, and she was tired of it. It wasn't always darkness, granted, that tugged at her... and it wasn't truly her fault. Not entirely, but it didn't matter. She's whispered and she'd been listened too; true, it'd been a whisper, and they could have ignored it, but they'd chosen to listen instead.

Irrationality was bothered.

She'd not been bothered in a very long time, but the way her maw was set in a grim line as she stood and stalked through the grass was enough to set the random nocturnal rodents into a run. Her claws dug mercilessly into the humid earth; it'd rained earlier, she thought idly. She liked it when it rained, and she found herself hoping it'd rain again, almost in hopes it'd wash away her thoughts.

Muhali was still in denial about them after all, however, she could not ignore the small droplets of blood that clung to her brilliant blue pelt, nor could she deny the way they left a light trail as she walked. She could not deny those things, for she did not belong in such a realm; she acknowledged them as true, and thus why she was bothered. It wasn't her own blood, really, but in a sense it was almost hers; it had been her responsibility, and she'd not enjoyed it. Bipolar, she thought was she padded onward, her form moving with feline grace through the tall grass till she reached a cliff. She was bipolar.

Or rather, her powers were bipolar.

They upset her.

Sitting herself down upon the cliff's edge, she stared at the darkness below her; there was water there. She knew that. She could hear her, but the sounds of the waves crashing against the rocks below were of no help. They were not soothing, but adding to her mood; she scowled at the ground about her, her claws retracting from the humid soil before her gaze turned heavenward. It was a sick joke, wasn't it? Someone was probably having fun at her expense. The mere thought was irrational and perhaps a bit morbid in it's own way. however, the lioness could think of nothing else to do or say and instead she opened her maw and roared; the roar was long, angry. It washed off the feelings of guilt as she increased it's volume; once out of breath, the goddess roared again, longer still, louder, harsher.

It was then the heavens thundered back at her, he rain finaly falling to soak her form, and the roar died down.

To never be scared of anything was a wonderful thing, Ukata had decided at a rather young age. Of course, he was still rather young so that could be why. Whether this was his first or second, or bajillionth lifetime, Ukatazaji couldn't remember. Likely, it was there somewhere but he'd long since denied it.. just as he'd denied growing up or getting older in this one. Being a cub was MUCH more fun! In fact, it was entirely possible that he'd simply killed himself in earlier lifetimes to keep from growing up, until he'd figured out the part about denying it--the mind was truly a magnificent organ.

Tonight, he wasn't being scared of the thunder and rain. Unlike most cubs which would be cowering under their mum's belly in some warm, cozy den, the Cub of Denial was outside dancing in the rain. He also denied that he wanted a mum whos belly he could huddle under. Of course, a part of being so old and lost in ones own realm was that he honestly couldn't remember whom is mother really was. Instead, he died his own inability in that area and imagined one for himself--she was simply lost, that was all.

And the rain was fun, the tiny black cub had decided. He laughed as he ran through the long, wet emerald stalks and rolled down the hills when he felt like. His fur was soaked through, and he should have been cold--of course, he probably was. That didn't bother him, however, for nothing ever did.

Slowly the grass began to give way to more rock and stone and a strange blue form at the top of the cliff. Was it blue? It was hard to tell in the beating rain, but Ukata thought that it was. A grin broke across the cubs maw when he saw the feathers spreading from the creatures back, for that was no bird laying sprawled at the cliff's edge. It was a Goddess, he knew it as surely as his own wings were tucked against his side, even though he'd not met one before this.

Joy rose in his heart, even as he pushed an errant thought further back into his black hole of denial. It had been years, and lifetimes but he had found her! Bounding towards the blue form, not minding the slick grass underfoot, he skidded to a halt at her side, tumbling to run straight into it. The impact didn't bother him, and instead he nuzzled and rubbed himself into her fur, "Mother!" For surely, it must be.

All noise seemed to die down then, and only silence followed; or maybe the goddess had shut her own ability to hear, to see and to acknowledge. She'd closed her eyes and refused To Look, and even Feel; the rain was no longer hitting her blue pelt, as far as she was concerned. She was no longer there, looking over the edge of the cliff, and she had certainly not witnessed the carnage she'd somehow caused, some way or another either.

It was probable Muhali would've remained stoic upon the cliff for ages to come, almost like a statue, and she might've even starved herself to death; some other would've taken up the domain she'd been padding with for so long, she didn't care. But it was not to be; instead, she was saved from such a fate by a single word that seemed to ring above the sound of the falling rain.

"Mother!"

Ears perked then, icy blue eyes opening as the frail blue frame stiffened; surely not her. She was not a mother, of that she was quite positive. She'd never known Love, even though she knew where it dwell-ed, so thus, why would any creature refer to her as mother? She was much more akin to Chaos, which she feared, than she was to other more positive domains, after all, thus why would that word feel like a shock within her mind? The goddess did not know, and she did not have time to dwell upon the idea either, for soon enough the pressure against her side demanded her immediate attention.

As she lowered her gaze down to the cub that pressed against her side, Muhali decided she wished she were like it; she wished she were small, and cub like. She wished she were not whom she was; changing herself would mean freedom of will. She did not want to be that what she was any more. Hadn't she been what she was for long enough? Slowly, her head tilted to one side, then to the other as she glanced at the cub's wings, "I am not your mother, child," the words were amusingly enough soft, contrasting against the weather and the previous roar she'd released, "You should leave, the Storm grows stronger," whether she was referring to her own particular storm, or the physical one that seemed to be manifesting itself about them, was a mystery; she said no more, but did move an inch away from the cub, looking away and over the cliff again.

What were wings for if they could not grant Freedom?

Had Muhali asked Truth such a question, the answer received would have been pro fund, to say the least. Dili was known for such profound words, even though her paws had not padded the world for long; her domain was not young, but she herself had not spent long time upon the earth. As a cub, Truth never questioned this; she merely accepted it. It was in her domain's nature to do so, and thus as she lay in a small pile against a smaller, green hued body, she didn't question the need to leave her brother's side.

She merely knew.

It was only later that she spotted the other two gods, and she smiled, "You are both in denial, but that's okay," she whispered against the rain storm, "You are lonely though and that's not okay though."

Ice blue eyes narrowed, but otherwise no further response was issued against such words.

This.. wasn't his mother? The cub looked up as the striped Goddess pulled away. He tilted his head, obviously confused and the dark cub took one step forward to close the distance between them. She claimed not to be his mother, and yet there was something familiar about her... something that made her seem... attractive wasn't the right word at all, but it was close. There felt like there was something tugging him towards her, a part of him that--his realm, maybe?

The cub shook his head and let his worries and hurt slip away and he smiled at her. "I'm not scared of the storm! I'm never scared of nothin!" Oh how wonderful it was to be a cub. He bounded up to the cliff's edge where Muhali's head rested and put both his forepaws upon her muzzle, "You don't wanna be my mom?" It didn't seem to bother him and he grinned, "That's okay! But I like you! Can I be your mom instead?"

A voice broke in then, and Denial turned his head to see the pink angel that had come up to them. He blinked, his world suddenly changing as he saw her for the first time, glistening in the cold and wet and yet as blissfully gorgous as the brightest star. He didn't even seem to mind her words, or hear them, he was so focused on the simple peace she seemed to radiate towards his heart. ... It was something that the black hole inside of him both reveled in and pushed away from.

And so, he smiled and slowly took his paws from Muhali's face to pad slowly back towards this holy beacon. "Hello sister," He said quite happily, though they were not related. "Its good to see you again. Did you miss me?"

The pink cub's head tilted to one side, and then towards the other, her smile still upon her face, truthful as ever, even though a spark, a hint of confussion shined within her eyes, "Sister?" the word seemed familiar upon her maw, and even as a smaller, green hued figure padded forward and latched itself around her front right paw, she did not move. At least not instantly; for soon enough, her purple hued gaze fell upon the younger cub of deception, whose large, red eyes were gazing almost fearfuly up at the strangers he could not place, "I already have a brother though."

Said brother lifted his gaze up to Denial, his paws tightening their grip around the female's arm; tell truth, he wanted their mother, and was horribly unsure of why his sister had wandered off. As far as he knew, staying with sister, however, meant relative safety till Mother returned. This thought in mind, he allowed one of his green pelted paws to raise to his maw and placed it in it, sucking at it for comfort, in a way.

Dili wrapped her tail around the younger cub, but did not look at him any more, rather, her eyes remain on the two strangers, "You can be both our brother though, if you want... it's sad to be alone."

Unknowingly to the cubs, Irrationality had been listening, and somewhat watching, if only languidly, throughout the whole exchange; her eyes narrowed, her maw tightening into a thin line before she finaly looked away and over the cliff. She could feel the weather calming down into a slow drizzle, and with it, her pains seemed to be washing away from her body. It was then that she had an idea; it was a strange idea to say the least, but them more she pondered it, the more it rang true, and strong within her heart. Muhali decided she would live within her realm; she would deny herself, and decieve to herself, only allowing the truth of her realm to shine. She would live within irrational bliss - for those that chose not to see, can not feel a thing, she'd decided.

Her head turned once more, languidly, slowly, her movements hollow and devoid feeling as she eyed the cubs; one larger than the rest, a darker color than any she'd seen before in a god. The middle one was pink; she seemed to sparkle against the other two, and the last one smaller than the rest, green pelted, dead looking. She knew that though they were young, their realms and domains were ancient, much like she was; she'd never wondered how old she really was, or how long she'd walked this earth. Not really. Not till that day.

She was old, she knew that, and deep down, she wanted to be like these cubs; they ignored their fear and they ignored cruelty, "I can not be your mother," the answer was long delayed, but it came at last, and as the cubs looked over, she smiled, ever so slightly, that small secret smile of hers, "You can't be my mother either..." she closed her eyes and allowed herself to pur slightly, "But you can be my saviours," she'd not asked for names, or domains, or whom they were. She didn't know, and didn't care either; saying such things would form bonds that would perhaps never break, and she did not wish to condemn them to such a fate. Amusingly enough, though the cub tht made the greatest impresion upon her had been the pink hued one, she felt an incredible tug and pull towards the darker one. A pull she chose to ignore and deny to herself.

Little did she know that her choices of Truth, Deception and Denial of herself and her own domain had been directly caused by these cubs, marking them as whom they were.

"I can't?" He answered Irrationalities last statement first, turning his eyes back towards her. A little pout rested on his maw for a moment, because the idea occurred to him that being someones mother would be a very fun game indeed. In the end, the young Godling shook it off and smiled once more, totally blissful and ignorant of the termoil in her mind. "Okay then. I'll be their brother then."

Once more that radiant smile was turned upon the pink cub and her smaller charge, never once seeming to falter. A change within the striped goddess, though he couldn't identify it, seemd to make her only more interesting to him and yet his eyes were for the pink one. There was something about her, perhaps an air of the unatainable that drew him like a moth to the flame. ... Just like that dead cub at her feet seemed to curl to her for protection.

Ukata took a few steps forward, lowering his head to sniff first at Ushaufu's pelt before his sister's. Names didn't really matter to him, at least not yet or now, and he instead moved to curl up with them as, slowly, his scent began to change... In a matter of moments, any lion present would think he their blood brother. Leaning so close against Truth, however, something inside of him began to stir. It didn't take over by any means, but it was there--a sudden, nagging feeling that threatened to tear his little safety net down about his ears.

Ushaufu's first response was to allow his eyes to grow larger, his form retreating to hide partialy under his sister in obvious fear, where he hid his head; the unknown was frightening. He'd never known anything, or anyone that wasn't familiar; he knew his sister, and he knew their parents, but that was it. He'd learnt they were safe, and hiding under them whence scared had always been the first thing he'd done, but as Uka's sniffling continued, Deception finaly peeked over at him.

This one had wings. He had wings too, and thus with that small spark of familiarity, he allowed his nose to hesitantly, finaly wiggle towards Denial. The smile his sister wore was not mirrowed, but it didn't seem to matter; acceptance was there, plain within the sole action.

Audilifu watched the small exchange before sniffling at the dark cub, her nose roaming his pelt till she felt she could have recognised him even within a sea of lions or gods. Then slowly, as he curled about her and her brother, she lay her head atop his pelt and blinked at the larger goddess; she did not have to ask her to Know, for she was Truth, and it spoke out to her, "You can change, if you want to. You can be anything you ever wanted, ot wished to be. All you have to do, is believe in it," she knew such words to be true; the power of the heart and mind was nothing something the pink lioness could understand, not by any means, but she still knew about it, and accepted it for what it was.

"There's no need to change, but at times, change is for the best."

The words were simple, and childishly innocent in their base, but the meaning behind them allowed Muhali to sigh. It was that sigh that seemed to signal the end of the storm, for just as it came, the drizzle finaly died down; the sun and moon did not shine upon them however, remaining hidded behind the clouds that still thundered in the distance, and ahead of them. The weather seemed almost simbolic, but Irrationality chose to ignore it as she stood; she would change, she decided, and she'd become what she wished to, and thus, this in mind, her form padded towards the cubs, pausing briefly to lick and groom all three of them tenderly before stepping over them.

She moved away from them, never looking back; her nose had not caught their scents, mostly on purpose, for it did not matter whom they were. Not right now anyhow, and as she moved into the distance, her body shrank. Maybe it was an illusion caused by the fact she was leaving, and slowly vanishing from view into the horizon, or maybe it was real. It was imposible to tell, and even Truth did not mind knowing. Instead, she turned her attention upon her brothers.

Ukata too watched the lioness leave. He didn't bother wondering at the sight of her shrinking, for he'd long since ceased such sort of wonders. Instead, he smiled at the words his 'sister' had spoken, for they were true; after all, belief was what he was based upon, in a round about fashion. Of course, everything about this little god-child was roundabout. He was not one of the stable domains, and he had never been meant to be so, after all. Instead, he raised his eyes to Dili as she brought hers down and it was nice to have a family.

Before he'd even known he'd decided to do it, and perhaps chunking that decison into the hole as well, in an instant he'd always been with them. He curled into them and licked his 'baby' brother's neck in a familial fashion. They were his family, and somehow they had always been. There never had been a time he didn't know them, and that there had ever been such a time was completely behind him. "Can we go home? We've been gone too long." He asked his sister instead, for she was their leader, and held their brother close with a firm paw.

A smile was offered as she looked to an oposite direction, her gaze falling upon a spot, far away in the savanna where the sun had begun to peek through the clouds, forming a scene that seemed ripped out from a mirague, "Yes," she whispered as she nuzzled both the larger cub and the distinctly smaller on, that still seemed to cling to her leg as if for dear life, "Yes, lets," she said a little stronger, but then she stopped, and paused, her eyes gazing down upon the cub of Denial, whose name she did not know.

She knew him by his scent now, and by the feel and tug of him against her, but she did not know him by name, "I like you," she said truthfully, and slowly turned away from him, plucking one purple hued feather from the wing which she'd spread, "Here, you can have this; this makes us brothers. That way, anyone that sees you will know you have a sister, and they will smile for you, because you are not alone," she offered him the feather, held within her maw, the smile still spread across her maw.

Though Ushaufu was not entirely sure what was going on, words still escaping him, for he was far too young to use them, he did the only thing he could think of; he turned and mimiced his sister's actions, his maw searching within the mass of black hued feathers that adorned the seemingly useless array of feathers and misplaced bones. Slowly pluscking one, he too offered it to the cub of denial, for even Deception had noticed the Truth of such an action. He knew it meant something, and though not entirely sure of just what this something was, he decided that he'd find out later.

For the time being, he was content to know there was one more Safe person in his life, and he would later make a habit of clinging to him just as much, if not more as he did to Truth, for Denial was something he'd later find he could relate to in a much easier way than to Truth.
PostPosted: Wed Mar 21, 2007 2:37 am

Denial didn't offer his name then, for it wouldn't have mattered just yet. There would be plenty of time, in the years to follow, that names could be told. Instead he took the feathers with a smile of thanks, adding them somehow to his own wings then and there. Tucking the wings securely against his back he helped his younger brother up, the brother whos title he couldn't have known, and with them headed back towards the place they would term a den. It never once occurred to him to wonder what their parents would think. "I like you too," He responded truthfully to Truth and Deception both... because they were both a part of him, wether or not any of the three wished to admit it.
