Ok, so I'm apparently one of the only people I know who despite being a tomboy is all into finding products to use to make herself more attractive, as well as little tips and tricks. Some of my friends enjoy my random insights, other don't care or don't need it.
So I thought I'd make a thread for all of us to post the random tips and tricks we have... I'll post more later, I actually have a very sleepy boyfriend on the phone waiting for me sweatdrop
I suppose this is for girls and guys, though I figure girls will find this the most useful (I could be wrong xp )
So post your tips and tricks on how you are the stone cold fox you are! Brands you use, how you care for your hair, nails, skin, teeth, eyebrows, makeup, etc.
I'll seriously post something soon, my boyfriend is just about to die, though gonk sweatdrop I just wanna post this before I forget... again xp

Buwahaha, well some of my tips and tricks come from my Mom who's a cosmetologist.
For me, my skin... I have oily skin. I tried several of the cream facial cleansers, the foams, the astrigents, the zit zap creams and none of them seemed to a fat lot of good. What I've found works for me is exfoliating scrubs, like St. Ives Apricot. That along with astrigent and either a mud or face peel mask once a week and I keep breakouts to a minimum so long as I remember to wash the makeup off my face!
Mac is the best professional make up out there. I've never seen make up with such vibrant colors and staying power. No other professional brand has stood up to long last wear like Mac, and I've tried a few Clinique and Estee Lauder being among them. It's the only one I've found worth the price. Cheaper makeup, I like N.Y.C. and Cover girl.
To open eyes, use a light color liner such as white or silver on the bottom of the eye and a darker color for the top. Only put mascara on the top lashes and not the bottom and use a lighter color on the inner eye closest to the nose and darker on the outer closest to the ear.
Fuller lips, use lipstick as usually then place a small amount of a shade or two lighter lipstick on the inner part of the lip closest to the teeth and then slide on some lipgloss.
Help reduce the look of a double chin. Use a little blush, and I mean just a small amount right under the chin, it helps to shadow it and diminish the apperance just a bit. You use too much it'll just look odd.

I wish my mom was a cosmetologist, she's a secretary sweatdrop I've had to learn all the tips and tricks I have on my own by reading and researching and testing different things.
I used to think I had oily skin, only to learn that I have painfully dry skin--it got to the point where it was so bad I would cry if I had to touch my face to put on makeup, etc. I bought some St. Ives Apricot scrub as well as using some cold cream my mom gave me at the time... that cleared it up a lot and now I just make sure to use the scrub at least three times a week if not more to get rid of dead skin.
Actually, I read on a different site's forums about "anti-aging" glycolic peels. Now, I don't have much money and am usually very cheap, but I figured I'd spend the almost $20 on it--it couldn't hurt to try. My source had said that by using the peel I would find my skin softer, smoother, more even--my pores would be smaller (and I have always been self-conscious about the size of my pores) and my freckles would fade. It was really simple, I got the kit at Wal-mart... I read the warnings about being extra careful with sunblock and stuff--but I didn't worry so much about that and I still love the results. I'm so bad in debt right now though, I had to wait to buy it 'til next paycheck... I miss it sooooo. I guess if you have good skin it isn't for you, but I was so happy with my results.
I also read in books about mosturizer, which I'd already been trying to use--I got out of the habit but I'm trying to get back into it again. Although now I'm trying to use body cream instead of lotion because cream soaks in more smoothly, feels less greasy and makes my skin soft (and stretchmarks I do have seem to fade a bit when I do this, too) I'm finally learning how to not put on too much, too... I think that was one of my issues. And one thing I always suspected but just learned (and feel the need to inform everyone else of who might make the same mistake)--body lotion is not meant for your face. Go find a face lotion. Right now I'm trying out some Jergens stuff, so I can't really reccomend anything yet... but hopefully it'll work out. And I love chapstick, especially burts bees.
Still haven't found a good cleanser or a way to get rid of pimples for good and keept them away, but I've gotten them under control much better. I've also had to learn not to mess with my face as much, though (a bad habit of mine).
I'll have to go into all my other stuff at a later date, 'cause I'm exhausted sweatdrop Don't wanna stay up all night postin' this.... which I would do if I'm not controlled.

I guess hair would fall under this too. I have to warn you all I normally hate store bought shampoo and conditioner. As my mother says, I'm a professional beauty product whore lol. Pro stuff I recommend for fine hair, Halo. I have so many issues with conditioner either being too greasy or light weight and my hair either gets oily fast or frizzy. Halo and Kenra are the only two product lines I've found not to do that.
As for just store bought shampoos that aren't sold in a salon... I high recommend fructis. When I run low on cash it's one of the few ones that I like, plus it smells wonderful. Not fan of herbal essence nor suave. White rain will kill your hair with all the alcohol they put in their products especially their hairspray. Dove is alright, but I'd still get fructis over it and Aussie is pretty good. Aussie started out as a salon specialty.
I also like Alterna products for all hair types. They do wonderful things and Back to Basics is another good salon line. Paul Mitchell is over hyped. Usually anything made by Graham Webb is good stuff like the back to basics and Halo.
If you dye your hair... for dark hair colors Loreals specialty for dark only hair color is awsome. If you want to get your hair platinum blonde without the brassiness and hair dryer, I'd suggest Quik Blue and 40 volume hair peroxide from Sallys.
I'm sure I'll think of more things later... oh yeah
Never use pore strips. They enlarge your pores.

For hair I live for my GHD straighteners! I could never see the big thrill in them until I got them and everything was really easy and fast to do! Trust me you'll never go back once you've tried them!
As for shampoo, I only use head and shoulders, anything else just seems to make my hair go greasy or generally yucky!
For all over skin I love Karma Kreme from Lush, it smells so fab and makes you skin feel all lovely and smooth too! ^_^

For eyeliner, what I do is put black eyeliner on the very inside rim of your eye (if you're not used to it the idea might scare you, but you can't feel it).
I just put my fingertip on the outside corner of my eye, pull it sideways a bit, then put eyeliner starting from that outside corner to the inner side of the iris (if that makes sense). It makes your eyes look super pretty.
If I can find a pic of someone's eyes dead on, I'll give an example.

I couldn't remember if I went over the shampoos I liked, but you covered them all gonk
I always complain about how I have such perfect hair, though... I mean, they don't make shampoo for perfect hair, the closest they have is "normal". Pfft, my hair is way too perfect for that--it's thick and healthy and beautiful... amazing. But I do like Garnier Frutis, though I don't use it as much anymore... I used to use the long and strong, 'til I realized I still didn't really need that but assumed I did 'cause I was working on growing my hair out (which I'm doing again whee ) I like Dove, but it makes my hair floppy... it feels even softer (which is also a feat since my hair is softer than most people's) but it's just harder to control, I guess 'cause of the mosture.... I actually like Suave shampoo, but I'm on the opposite of Countess 'cause I only am obsessed with having a professional cut my hair... I do everything else myself 'cause I love my money. I do like Aussie... when I went to visit my boyfriend in Missouri I was using Aussie shampoo--his sister's friend asked if she could touch my hair (even though I forced my boyfriend to touch it constantly, I love having my hair played with) and they commented about how soft it was (they were freaking out because of it) and how my hair looked like a waterfall... I don't know how much of that was the shampoo and how much was my natural hair... but I did get lots of compliments while using that shampoo.
I use one of the cheapest hair dyes, and it makes my hair feel great and stuff--Loreal Preference, I think sweatdrop Yet again, the positive effects might be due to my hair already being awesome.
I really wanna go light blonde, but I'm not sure how to do it sweatdrop And at the same time I don't know if I should. Or maybe black, hrm.
For shaving I really like those new shick Intuition (or whatever they're called) where you don't have to use shaving cream 'cause the mosturizer/lather is already around the blade... but that might be 'cause I'm lazy.
For makeup I don't have much... I like Cover Girl, especially that new mousse-like makeup... especially the foundation. I use pretty much anybody's eyeshadow, I like Cover Girl and Mabeline... but I'm willing to try any where I like the colors. Since I have blue eyes I tend to use different shades of purple to bring out my color, sometimes brown or green. But I'm an eyemakeup whore, so I guess that's why... I just love it so much sweatdrop

wow... i dont really have any beauty tips...
i've never really thought about it before. i've just kinda done my thing. though i know that i refuse to use cheap shampoo and conditioner. my hair is pretty much amazing in itself, and i dont want to damage it with cheap shampoo. or blow-drying >.<
one trick i have that i use all the time for hair: rinse with cool/cold water. i recently started doing that, and my hair usually turns out shinier and is virtually frizz-free. but i suppose thats basic knowledge ^_^
i have a bad habit of brushing my hair. i brush it at least once every 2-3 hours, no joke.

I love tresseme shampoo and conditioner. And I adore my GHDS even though I have a scar from Christmas day were I burnt myself.
I like Avon makeup especially the cheaper colour trend stuff.
When I have my hair natural [curly] without blow drying or whatever I use serum. If you have naturally curly hair use serum instead of hairspray or mousse as that makes it go bigger and serum controls the frizz.
When I dye my hair an unnatural colour like pink etc I use stargazers as it is a conditioner so makes my hair lovely soft and shiny.

I don't suggest using the Garnier Frutis over and over again, about once a week, use a different kind. It dries out your scalp. Not fun.

I have about 3 shampoos at the moment (some just 'cause I'm about to run out of one and I get so excited that I bought a new one I have to use it first... then end up never using the old one for awhile.
Anyways, I switch out between 3 shampoos right now... but I never actually had a problem with the garnier frutis thing... which one did you use? I've used at least two, but the one I used most was long and strong.

It might also be if you use the shampoo and conditioner both every single day, drove me mad. The shampoo I have absolutely fallen in *love* with is the SunSilk Anti-Poof and it makes my hair so nice and smooth. I can't use regular shampoo because as thick as my hair is, and as long as it is, if I use regular, I look like I have an afro. And now I'm rambleing.

I've looked, I have some of the thickest hair any of my hairstylists have seen gonk But I don't have issues with it being frizzy or anything sweatdrop
