Welcome to the 2nd stage of the 8K Beta HQ Contest!
This one is for your skill and knowledge of the 2 words above; Sol and Lune.
First off, what do those 2 words represent? *Type it in White Font, so I know you know what the rules are*
Secondly, describe/mention 1 change that Sol and Lune go under (doesn't have to be horribly specific; if for example Sol is a snake then you could mention that it sheds its' skin, hibernates, etc.)
Next, find 1 image of both Sol and 1 image of Lune. Just post the link to the image, not the actual image itself. (to save bandwidth for those who don't have high-speed net access.)
And finally...find 1 culture reference for both Sol and Lune. (Again, using the snake reference, you could say that there is a Snake Robot Master (Snakeman, for Nova's glee) in the Megaman game series or that a snake appears in the Harry Potter series books.)
Correct Answers will earn the participant 4 flaffle spots (unless you find another way to get a spot... ^-^) and I will run the flaffle (along with the final raffle/auction event on Friday (at some point, most likely around noon CST)
This contest will run from now (approx. 12:30pm CST) until tomorrow night at 9pm CST (as that will be the end of the Grey's Anatomy climax episode! ^-^ Bonus point time -> Mention a newly found Grey's Anatomy fact (in white letters) to score 1 extra spot for this flaffle. *Please note if it is a spoiler, bold it in white text lettering, so we do not spoil it for anyone else.*)

First off, what do those 2 words represent?: the Solar System is often referred to in science fiction as the "Sol System". A river in the United Kingdom is named the River LuneSecondly, describe/mention 1 change that Sol and Lune go under: Sol, or the sun, goes through solar eclipses, which bring, as some say, the birth of a new sun. A river is always flowing and changing with new water and new life.Find 1 image of both Sol and 1 image of Lune: Sol(river) LuneFind 1 culture reference for both Sol and Lune: Sol Ivictus was God of the Sun in roman mythology. Lune is often also known as Luna, and Luna was the roman Goddess of the Moon.

First off, what do those 2 words represent? *Type it in White Font, so I know you know what the rules are* Answer: Sol = Sol A local day on a planet, defined by its period of rotation. On Mars, for example, a local day lasts 24 hours and 37 minutes.
Or this one.
Sol: Means Sun, (Middle English, from Latin sōl.)
Lune =lūn) n. A crescent-shaped portion of a plane or sphere bounded by two arcs of circles. [Latin lūna, moon.]But has many names,Secondly, describe/mention 1 change that Sol and Lune go under (doesn't have to be horribly specific; if for example Sol is a snake then you could mention that it sheds its' skin, hibernates, etc.) Luner: A lunar eclipse occurs whenever the Moon passes through some portion of the Earth's shadow. This can occur only when the Moon is full, and when the Sun, Earth and Moon are exactly on a line, or very closely so. The type and length of a lunar eclipse depends upon the Moon's location relative to its orbital nodes. The next total lunar eclipse will take place at on March 3, 2007 and will be visible over the eastern Americas, Europe, Africa, and western Asia.Solar: A solar eclipse occurs when the Moon passes between Earth and the Sun, thereby totally or partially obscuring Earth's view of the Sun. This configuration can only occur during a new moon, when the Sun and Moon are in conjunction as seen from the Earth. In ancient times, and in some cultures today, solar eclipses are attributed to mythical properties. Total solar eclipses can be frightening events for people unaware of their astronomical nature, as the Sun suddenly disappears in the middle of the day and the sky darkens in a matter of minutes. However, the spiritual attribution of solar eclipses is now largely disregarded.Next, find 1 image of both Sol and 1 image of Lune. Just post the link to the image, not the actual image itself. (to save bandwidth for those who don't have high-speed net access.) http://www.solarviews.com/eng/sun.htmhttp://www.solarviews.com/eng/moon.htmAnd finally...find 1 culture reference for both Sol and Lune. (Again, using the snake reference, you could say that there is a Snake Robot Master (Snakeman, for Nova's glee) in the Megaman game series or that a snake appears in the Harry Potter series books.) Luna: Moon Goddess (Greek): With her golden crown, Luna illuminated the night. Best remembered for her love of Endymion, she was so entranced by his beauty ...
Sol was, in Norse mythology, the goddess of the sun, a daughter of Mundilfari and Glaur and the wife of Glen. The corresponding Old English name is Sigel.
that is the best i can do on this question sorry

First off, what do those 2 words represent? *Type it in White Font, so I know you know what the rules are*
Answer: Sol was the name or personification of the Sun (in Latin), the Solar System is often referred to in science fiction as the "Sol System".
Lune or Luna is a poetic name for Earth's Moon.
Secondly, describe/mention 1 change that Sol and Lune go under (doesn't have to be horribly specific; if for example Sol is a snake then you could mention that it sheds its' skin, hibernates, etc.)
Answer: A sunspot is a region on the Sun's surface (photosphere) that is marked by a lower temperature than its surroundings and intense magnetic activity, which inhibits convection, forming areas of low surface temperature.
The Moon makes one complete orbit about the Earth every 27.3 days, and the periodic variations in the geometry of the Earth-Moon-Sun system are responsible for the lunar phases that repeat every 29.5 days.
Next, find 1 image of both Sol and 1 image of Lune. Just post the link to the image, not the actual image itself. (to save bandwidth for those who don't have high-speed net access.)
Sol Lune
And finally...find 1 culture reference for both Sol and Lune. (Again, using the snake reference, you could say that there is a Snake Robot Master (Snakeman, for Nova's glee) in the Megaman game series or that a snake appears in the Harry Potter series books.)
Answer: CULTURE-SOL consists of a powerful combination of talented individuals: JD Diva Lyrie, April Reign, Steve Boos, Neph, Mac Thornill and Tony Taylor. CULTURE-SOL'S fast paced energetic shows combine the right ingredients with outstanding showmanship and a hot song list for a super successful event that is fun, exciting and entertaining.
The name of some natural features in J. R. R. Tolkien's fictional universe of Middle-earth:
* the river Lhûn or Lune, * the Gulf of Lune, and * the Ered Luin, sometimes called "Ered Lune", the Blue Mountains. (Sorry I couldn't help it I'm a huge LOTR Fan!!)
Bonus point time -> Mention a newly found Grey's Anatomy fact (in white letters) to score 1 extra spot for this flaffle. *Please note if it is a spoiler, bold it in white text lettering, so we do not spoil it for anyone else.*)
THIS IS A SPOILER!!
In a sign that the gods have clearly been reading this column, one of the lead female characters on Grey’s Anatomy is soon going to be revealed to be bisexual. The revelation occurs in mid-April, in an episode titled “Damage Case”, when the 40-something ex-girlfriend (and former professor) of the character in question shows up at the hospital. Now happily pregnant and in a long-term relationship with a woman, the ex-girlfriend meets the bisexual character’s current significant other and inadvertently reveals the true nature of their former (3-year) relationship.

lune, the dark parts of hte moon that make up its maria have created spots on it that people on earth call the "man in the moon" which is a culture reference as it was the basis for a movie called man on the moon. and also, the image for it was made popular by the silent movie, "Le Voyage dans la Lune" (1902) by Georges Méliès.Correct Answers will earn the participant 4 flaffle spots (unless you find another way to get a spot... ^-^) and I will run the flaffle (along with the final raffle/auction event on Friday (at some point, most likely around noon CST) This contest will run from now (approx.
