The idea of Nightwish was "born" in July 1996 at midnight when Tuomas was spending a night with his friends around a campfire. The first three songs, which were acoustic mood music, were recorded between October and December 1996. At that time the band had three members: Tuomas, Tarja and Emppu. Originally, Tarja Turunen wasn't into metal at all (nor did she even know what it was). Now Tarja's out of the band, they kicked her out for becoming a 'diva'. "She was being a pain in the rear" is what most people thinks. Though, their music is really fascinating, even falling into Power metal they keep a gothic, fantastic, romantic aura. I never really cared for Nightwish. They are okay and all and she has a nice voice but...

ive only heard three songs from Nightwish and only enjoyed one...so i didnt really see the point of looking into them anymore although i know thousands of people are obsessed with them...

Well we all know that people in general are stupid. But i think its totally lame that they are going to try and move on without her. Finish Strong.....no one will like the band without her whether they like it or not Tarja = Nightwish. She was the face of the band and that's why it went to her head. Its the same with Evanescence as much as i adore the band and Amy. Ben left because he and Amy were tearing the band apart with both of them in it. He knew if he had to leave in order for Evanescence to be successful. I may not agree with how he left and his actions during the time he was in the band or his words and thought after the band BUT i respect him for making a mature discision. He sacrificed his part in his "baby" (lets face it, it was) in order for it to continue.....Now i am totally off topic but do you see what i am saying?

... you know nothing about nightwish.... jeez.. this is sad. Marco Hietala can sing way better than we think, and I'd love an album with Marco on clean vocals and Tuomas on harsh vocals. And by the way, no one said they are trying to move on without her, they are actually looking for a singer... jeez.. learn, then give your opinion.

Victum Soul ... you know nothing about nightwish.... jeez.. this is sad. Marco Hietala can sing way better than we think, and I'd love an album with Marco on clean vocals and Tuomas on harsh vocals. And by the way, no one said they are trying to move on without her, they are actually looking for a singer... jeez.. learn, then give your opinion. what part about that ISN'T trying to move on without her? And what you obviously DIDNT get from my post was, no matter how the band or the company or some pactiular musician feels when it comes down to alot of fans is the fact that the singer is the face of the band. The singer is the band to some people.

Marco Hietala can sing way better than we think, and I'd love an album with Marco on clean vocals and Tuomas on harsh vocals. And by the way, no one said they are trying to move on without her, they are actually looking for a singer... jeez.. learn, then give your opinion. what part about that ISN'T trying to move on without her? 19.02.2007 - Eagerly awaited new Nightwish music announced!
Released on May 30, 2007, “Eva” will be an internet-only single release, all profits of which shall be donated to a charity that will be announced later. In Finland, the single is available exclusively from NetAnttila.
“Eva” features the new Nightwish vocalist, chosen from about 2,000 applicants. The singer’s identity will be revealed simultaneously in a press statement and on the band’s website, www.nightwish.com, on Wednesday, May 30, 2007. A radio promo of the internet single will ship on the same day.
The sixth Nightwish album will be released on September 26, 2007, preceded by a second, regular single release in August.

The general public doesn't really know that mach about female fronted metal, so saying that the general public know Tarja as the face of Nightwish doesn't make too much sense. For saying that the band cannot move on without Tarja is not correct either because there are many other people who can sing better than Tarja, for example Vibeke (ex-Tristana) and Liv Kristen (Leave's Eyes) to name a couple. Toumas is the real backbone of the band and everyone who is really serious about Nightwish knows that. He doesn't need Tarja to write songs, he will pick the new vocalist to fit the music, he won't, nor has he, wrapped the music around the singer. I think Nightwish will move on beautifully without Tarja, though if they decide to put Tarja back in the band, I would not have any objection.
