Ok so I LOVED Anita back in the day...Laurell was amazing with her story...now it just seems that every other page is sex...in each book anita has to screw 2 or 3 new people...not only that but nothing really tends to get done or so it seems...:sigh: I just feel like it's 200-400 pages of mostly sex and a few days of events...
I want more plot and a little less sex

I've been thinking the same thing. Like the sex every once in a while made things interesting I'll admit but when it's all the time it becomes tasteless.

I didn't mind the one sex scene kind of thing...like when she slept with JC I was like emotion_drool ABout time ya know? but now she's screwing people she hasn't even known for an hour!

I believe she could cut waaay back on the sex in the anita blake books due to she is like getting no decent story line in and anita is turning into a glorified sex addict. Granted she has JC arduer but she should have that under control by now and not be having some new problem popping up making it go out of control just so she can boink one of the guys. It's just too much !!! It's even a little out of control in her Gentry books but at least it serves the purpose for her to get pregnant. Oh well !! we will see with the next book how she does. sad

You guys act like you go through what Anita has to deal with on a regular basis. For her, it's not easy dealing with the arduer. Hell Anita hates it but you know what? If you don't like what Hamilton is doing, then stop reading the books.
Unless you know how to read in between the lines? There's more to the later books then the sex. Half the sex dealt with vampire politics which played a major role in the books.

youngshorty You guys act like you go through what Anita has to deal with on a regular basis. For her, it's not easy dealing with the arduer. Hell Anita hates it but you know what? If you don't like what Hamilton is doing, then stop reading the books. Unless you know how to read in between the lines? There's more to the later books then the sex. Half the sex dealt with vampire politics which played a major role in the books. I'm just saying that it seems that her integrity has been going down the drain. you don't have to get so defensive. it's obvious that there are other ways of dealing with the vampire politics otherwise the books would have ALWAYS had as much sex as it does now. like with Merry I expect the sex because from the beginning it has be intregal in the story line. I choose to read or not read accordingly. But with Anita it just sorta became that way and blindsided us. I just think that sometimes it's unnecessary to be "in" the room reading about that so graphically it may as well be porn... Look at Obsidian butterfly...there was no sex in it! and it was still a great book... I'm not against some sex...but having laurell make sex the focus of the story line is completely going against the grain of Anita...it's like she's whoring her out! I still love Anita and hold out hope that there will be more growth for laurell past all the "sex sells" propaganda.

I found Danse Macabre was more AWAY from the "smut" than Incubus Dreams. There seemed to be a greater ratio of plot to sex.

I don't know...ever since Cerulean Sins it's been gradually getting worse...I just want Laurell to balance out some sex with plot. Again I have nothing AGAINST sex...I'm not Amish for goodness sake...but when I am able to sum up the story's action parts in three sentances and the book is over 450 pages long it says something about the book. I wouldn't be saying all of this if I didn't love Anita...

I agree full heartedly that the sex is getting a little out of contorl. Obsidian Butterfly was, in my opinion, the best book (maybe its just because Edward's my fav character) I'm only hoping that maybe because Edward is re-entering the story line, that there won't be as much sex and it'll concentrate more on the killing things.

Smut, while all well and good, should not be... for lack of a better term, shoved down someone's unsuspecting throat. It's like announcing you think someones hot and groping them... ackward and... hmmm...
