Role Playing Rules

1. RP is required in order to keep your mermaid. If you RP once every month that is fine, but if i don't see you RP in two months i will give you a warning about your merperson being taken away. You will be getting two warnings. After the first warning i will wait one week for you to RP, if i don't see you RP in the shop or the guild i will send you another warning and after the second warning you have one more week to RP before i take your merperson away.
2. God moding� a big nono!
3. For goodness sake, be civilized! In other words, don't violate any of the ToS's during Rping either.
4. Don't RP a pet you don't have or one that doesn't belong to you!
5. Don't attempt to change the plot.
6. You may RP in several different places: The thread, the guild, PMs, or even IM if the person you are wanting to RP with someone who has it available.

Love.

It’s how everything seems to start these days. So, it is only fitting that this one should start like so. But this love was unconventional; unlikely. A rugged sailor and a beautiful aquatic animal met, fell in love, sacrificed for one another. The man, as said before, was rather crude in appearance, but still capable of immense love of another being…. Her. Yet their love was accursed, they weren’t even the same species. The female was a solitary dolphin. Extremely intelligent and lonely in nature. She loved the man as much as he loved her.

But the man could not see her very often; he could only stay in the water for limited amounts of time. She grew very lonely, but she loved each moment, knowing that they would see each other soon. She longed for a child; someone who could keep her company in the long hours that the man was forced to be separated from her. But, because of the species separation, a child was not possible.

Then came an old, withered man to the star-crossed sailor’s door. He held strange potions, and claimed that he could do wonders. One of these wonders was to allow a child to be born between two genetically different beings. The sailor knew all too well that his love yearned for a child, so he gladly let the stranger in. A strange, horrid smell potion was introduced.
“Go to the sea and drink of this; only then will a child come forth. But I must warn you. Heheheh. If you partake of the potion one life will leave the world as your new life is born. Yes, the drinker of the potion will die as soon as the liquid touches your lips.” The old man explained.

The sailor, taking the potion and paying the man, knew what he must do. He would die for his love, if it meant her happiness in the end. He made his way to the sea to meet his love for the last time. Upon meeting her, he told her everything. It was safe to assume that she wanting nothing of this plan. She wouldn’t ever allow her love to make such a sacrifice, no matter how sorely she wanted young of her own. But the sailor persisted, taking out the bottle with a tear in his eye. She turned away, unable to watch as he committed the foul deed. As his body fell into the water, she turned back to se a lonely starfish in his place, emanating with a strange aura that told the dolphin lady that this was hers. Her young. She took it, sobbing. She never knew she could be so immensely happy and sad all at the same time. With the star clutched between her fins, she dove into deeper water, escaping from the place her true love died.

It wasn’t long before the star-like egg hatched. Out of it came something caught between a man and beast. It was the first mer-person. The dolphin lady was thrilled about how much her new little boy looked like the man that sacrificed his life for her happiness. She raised him within the coral reef she called her home. It was safe, inviting.

The man grew handsome and charming. Like his mother in so many ways, yet the resemblance between his father and him was uncanny. He met love of his own, another young dolphin. After his mother died, a star-egg was produced from the boy and dolphin’s love. The egg hatched, produced another mer-maid just like the boy.

Decades later, a thriving community was born from a man and dolphin’s tragic love.

Flatsales at Neptune's Oasis shop resemble speed sales or in a raffle like sale. In a speed sale, a time and date will be announced. Before that time, previews of the Starfish for sale will be put up and potential buyers can look for one they like. Then, at the time and date announced, I will open the flatsale by usually writing in big blue letters *GO*. Whoever posts first for which Starfish they want, earns the right to it and should send the trade and post the name asap. If you post and your selection is already chosen, you can try again, but chances are they're all bought up. In the case of a raffle base flatsale i will post 30min before the start of the sale asking who would like one. Once the 30min is up i will put everone that stated they wanted one in a list, and roll a number.

• You will not be able to choose how the babies look. All traits and mutation(s) come from parents.
  
• All eggs will be given to the owners of the mated pair.
  The owners can choose how they wish to distribute the eggs. If they wish to sell them, it must be done through the store. The money will be split as such: 25% to the owner(s), 25% to the shop, and 50% to the colorist
  
• What can increase my chances of a larger litter?
  Roleplaying a lot mainly. Lifemated merpeople also may have larger litters; lifemates can only breed with one another.
  
• What sorts of "pairs" can breed?
  Male and female adults can breed together, at the moment male/male pairings or female/female pairings are not able to breed at the moment
  
• How many babies are commonly born in a single breeding?
  First time breedings usually produce 2-4 starfish
  Merpeople can produce anywhere from 2-6 starfish ( activity in the thread, whether it be chatting or RPing will get you GREATER ODDS of more starfish. RPing is the most efficient way though. )
