Ishida's mood wasn't in the best it could be. No little rays of sunshine for this boy. Nooo, he decided that he was sick of not being strong enough, not being good enough. So he deemed himself ready for a good long training session. Just....what did you do if you didn't even know how to train yourself?

Well, he didn't let that bother him too much. Nope, he would just beat the crap out of himself until he got too tired. Wasn't that how everyone else trained? No pain, no gain? It had to work, and he was ready to check it out.

Except, he wanted to make sure that no one in his huge family would see him. Nooo, because that would just be too embarassing for the juvenile cub. He wanted them to see his improvement, his real strength. And that would be the real vistory, to taste sweet satisfaction and awe from the air. His little body quivered with excitement. Yes, he'd do it, and do it right!

Of course, he wasn't paying too much attention to where he was going, and was paying even less attention to if anything was following him. Or if he would, nearly-literally, run into anyone else. The silly cub was more interested in thinking about how great he would be once he started this 'training'.

Camulos was certainly the oddball of the family.

He had no desire for strength, no desire for power. The juvenile was gentle and kindhearted; he couldn't be more different from the majority of his siblings, let alone his mother.

That morning, he had made his way over to his favourite spot: a wide expanse of field where butterflies congregated. The grass was green and alive, unlike most of the grass in the Southlands.

He was lying on his back, his scarlet eyes wide as he watched the blazing orange butterflies darting and playing above him. Cam's appearance was quite deceiving, his dark coat and red eyes giving him a rather evil look, but as he batted lightly at the fluttering butterflies, there was nothing but gentleness apparent.

The juvenile let out a sigh, glad to escape from his family for a while. His sister, the chosen heiress, was struggling with her appointed duties and his mother was manipulating him as always. He still couldn't see the full extent of it, but he resented that his mother thought of him as ignorant and that she was putting so much pressure on his beloved sister.

Cam pushed the thoughts from his mind. Right now he was enjoying the simplicity of life and didn't want to get caught up in his frustrations.

A sudden flurry of motions to his right startled, and abrubtly stopped, the blue-and-white cub. He stood stiff for a moment, not sure of what made that movement. As his grey eyes focused on the orange-blurr, he noticed that they were nothing but butterflies. Nothing to worry about. As the juvenile slowly composed himself back to his normal state, he noticed a black blob on the ground. Could it be...?

He trotted over, his fear slowly dissipating as he grew closer. Why, it was only his brother! He didn't know if he should just ignore him....that could be kind of rude. And kin was kin, and he should be nice to his sibilings. Besides, they really only had each other in the world, besides their mother, their father absent from life and mind.

"What're you doing, Cam?" Ishida asked curiously, his whole 'training' goal for the moment forgotten, as well as his bad mood. The juvenile could barely keep himself in any sort of bad mood for long, his mind stubbornly having a decent outlook on life.

Cam turned his muzzle to look at his brother, surprised at his sudden appearance but not particularly upset. He didn't know Ishida all that well, spending most of his time on his own, with Kaihdin or with Tain, but the pale juvenile had never treated him as ruthlessly as some of their other siblings. "Hey," he said, a pleasant although slightly blank smile spreading on his lips. "I'm just playing with the butterflies."

He turned over onto his side, causing the fluttering insects to dart away. "What are you doing?" He felt grateful for the company but didn't want to keep his brother if he had something better to be doing.

Ishida was a bit surprised that Cam was so honest with what he was doing. The white juvenile plopped himself next to his brother, laying on his stomache in a lazy motion. He wasn't up to his whole training thing anymore, and thought that relaxing with his very mellow brother would be a much better idea. "Wouldn't Mom get mad if she caught you doing that?" he asked, more as a warning then a scolding. He grew tired of his mother at times as well, especially since she seemed to dote over their sisters more then her male kids.

"I was trying to train," he started, a bit embarassed. "Make myself stronger, y'know? But....I have no idea what I'm doing." It aggrivated him, and only when he was trying to get tough did he think about his absent father. He must have been strong, or else Mom probably wouldn't of even gotten close to him. No, maybe he was justs out somewhere, and would come back someday to show Ishida how it was done.

Aaah, who was he kidding? Ishida would figure it out some day, but for now it was all ending up in failure. "But I'm not going to ask Mom, she's probably too busy fawning over our sisters."

"Probably," Cam said, not sounding particularly concerned. "But she already thinks I'm pretty worthless, so I guess it doesn't matter." There was a rare bitterness in his voice. "So I pretty much do what I want. She doesn't care, unless she needs me to do her a favour."

The small male looked up at his brother, smiling sadly at his training comment. He had finally gotten past that, realizing that his mother would likely never respect him. Cam hoped that it would be different for Ishida.

"Can I tell you a secret?"

The words popped out of his mouth before he realized it, eyes widening slightly with surprise at his own spontanaity.

"Eh, I wouldn't let her get to you," Ishida said casually, waving a paw around. "She could care less about us unless we're strong. I guess..." he trailed off for a moment, deep in though. "Maybe that's why I try hard to get strong, but I don't know....I feel like it's more to protect myself, y'know?" He looked back over at Cam, catching eye contact. He could see how it upset him, but if the brothers stood together they would be alright. Right?

"Huh?" It caught him off guard, Cam asking him to hold a secret. He didn't know his brother was into those things, but he shrugged and said, "Sure can, Cam."

Suddenly it all came pouring out.

"Kaihdin and I are running away, and we're taking Tain with us. She doesn't want to be the heir; she wants to live her own life and be Kaihdin, not just a pawn for Mama. And I'm tired of being treated like I'm dumb. Neither of us like what she's doing to Tain... he's a good guy and she's being ruthless and cruel keeping him from his family just to prove a point. We're tired of everything here, and now that we're getting bigger, we think it's time to leave."

It was such a relief to get the secret off of his chest. "You can come with us if you want, Ishida," he said, offering a tentative smile. "But you don't have to or anything."

"Leave?" he echoed, a bit stunned at this secret that Cam shared with him. His eyes narrowed as he stared at his paws in front of him, his mind flooding with so many things to think about. Wow, this was really big news! It didn't surprise him too much, though, since he didn't think anyone really liked their mother; she was just too...crazy for most of them. His grey eyes glanced back over to Cam, a little bit concerned but understanding.

"I'll go with you guys. I don't think there's anything here for me, anyway. Where do you guys think you'll go, though? I don't want Mom to come after us if she decides to..."

Cam breathed a sigh of relief, pleased the Ishida agreed with the idea.

"We're gonna take Tain home, back to the Pridelands. After all this time, he still misses his family and wants to be with them again. Wouldn't that be nice, to feel that way?" He gave a feeble laugh. "But after that, I don't know where I'm going. I don't think I want to stay in the Pridelands. It'd be too obvious to Mama."

Despite his feelings towards her, he clearly felt guilty, no matter how much he tried to mask it. "It depends where Kai goes. Really, I just want to be away from here."

Ishida winced when his brother mentioned the Pridelands. They both knew too well what their mother thought of those lands, and so it was a bit obvious that she would check there first if they did disappear off to. His mind ticked away at the different lands and prides that he had heard of. Through his constant training and exploring of things, he had met a decent number of lions, but they all were just wandering and seemed to know little of the lands around them.

"Well, I'll go with you, and stick with you if I can." He was a bit excited to go see these Pridelands, but he did his best to hide his excitement, which wasn't fully contained. "We can just go where our paws take us after you take Tain back home? No harm in that," he huffed up a bit. "Plus as a group we can be pretty strong."

"I like that idea," Cam said, smiling up at Ishida. He was much smaller than his brother, and it was clear that the only thing he inherited from Roho was her size. "See the world and stuff. I wonder what it looks like out there, all the different places."

"And maybe we'll even find someplace to stay," he said, his voice hopeful. "I think it would be nice, to have a home."

Ishida's excitement ebbed when he heard Cam mention the word 'home'. It was ture that indeed, they had a home here in the pridelands, but it just didn't feel like what the word home should mean. It was uncomfortable, especially with their mother always around, and a fully absent father. He debated on it for just a split second, but his mind quickly made itself up.

"Alright. When are we leaving?" Ishida asked, a grin on his face. "I'm ready to go whenever you are, Cam."

The young male frowned slightly when Ishida seemed to hesitate, but as soon as he became sure, his smile returned.

"Soon," he said, swishing his tail happily. "As soon as possible! Once we get a little bigger, and we can fend for ourselves." The thought made Cam's stomach churn slightly. He always felt pretty useless, not particularly good at hunting or fighting. Would he have to leech off of his siblings and Tain? He shook the thought away, not wanting to spoil his bad mood.

"Hmmm."

Waiting seemed to be something that Ishida wasn't necessarily good at, but hey, he would wait. Especially if they needed to get bigger, smarter, and just in case, stronger. Ishida gave a strong nod towards his brother, understaning now. "Alright, once we get bigger. Sounds like a good plan, Cam." He offered a smile to his brother with the praise. Why not? He deserved it.
