After walking north for a while Mag decided that he need to get some last minute training in. It couldn’t hurt to strengthen up Shining and Shadow since they were at a slightly lower level than Sunfire and Tsunami. After finding an slightly open clearing off of the main road a little ways Mag released the two. They appeared in the usual burst of light but with the added jingling of the Soothe Bells they each carried.

Shadow yawned and looked about. Shining was on the other hand much more joyful at being released in the bright sunlight. She proceeded to pounce upon her brother playfully. “Okay you two.” Mag said enthusiastically. He hadn’t done some one-on-one (or two in this case) training in a long time. “I figured you guys might like to do a little training before we get to our upcoming Gym battle with that water lady… Misty I think.”

Putting a hand up to his head as if he had a headache Dante just sighed. "I didn't know I had one either until a few hours ago. Apparently I caught her acendentally on my first trip to the Safari Zone. I transfered her over onto my team on the train. Figured she would want some time out of her pokeball." He said watching the battle through his fingers.

Feeling the Tackle hit Moeder growled slightly at the Illumise, the pokemon was to small to topple the 7 foot tall pokemon and if anything the attack did more to enrage it. The Tackle had come to close to her liking to her 'baby' and that was not acceptable. Roaring Moeder charged at the Illumist again only this time she made to clamp her large jaws down in a Bite attack.

All the while the Roselia, after taking a moment to recover the Roselia had an angery look on her face. "Roselia use Mega Drain!" The Camerupt trainer yelled. Imediatly obeying the Roselia sent out the attack aimed directly for Althena who was still nestled in Moeders lap.

"So let us get on with the training shall we?" Mag asked rhetorically. "Shadow you start off with a Tackle and you try to avoid it Shining." Mag instructed. "After the inital move I'll let you two try some stuff for a while."

Following orders, Shadow moved in. Going on a slant to catch her off guard he swerved in for the attack. But Shining was quite ready for it with her 'watch and wait' attitude she had predicted the move ahead of time and came over to the side avoiding the blow as per her instructions. Now it was her chance to attack. Giving chase to Shadow she attempted a Tackle of her own. But he too was prepared for almost any attack especially after leaving himself more open than usual.

Coming to a halt and keeping low to the ground Shining flew over top of him. "Well you guys aren't getting anywhere very quickly. How about Shadow executing some sand attacks and Shining you can practice your Tail Whip."

Octillery winced at the heat of the flames. Although he was a Water-type, it wasn't like it didn't hurt. The octopus unwraveled his tentacles and hugged them close to his chest. Suddenly, the flames from the tower disappeared and the Fire Spin encasing him ceased to exist.

The boy clicked his tongue once and clenched his fist. "Flareon! Attack it with Bite!" The point at which Octillery was sitting was basically unknown to the Flareon, what with the ink still blinding him. It stung his eyes to even have them open. He kept them tightly shut and dashed forward, hoping to hit his mark. When nothing was hit, Flareon turned around. His attack failed.

"Not so tough now, huh Mr. Kilik?" Trish laughed, placing a hand on her hip and lifting her head up to look high and mighty. She laughed again, then crossed her arms over her chest, "C'mon, Octillery. Hit him with another Octazooka!"

"Flareon! Before Octy attacks!" the boy shook his head, "use a Smog attack!" If I can't hit her, I'll poison Octillery! he thought. At this command, Flareon reared his head back and opened his mouth, belching a purple haze along the field and having Octillery inhale it as he reared back for his Octazooka. The Pokemon's attack fired as he coughed, becoming poisoned. He felt his health drain away. With his large ears, Flareon would be able to hear the bullet coming from a mile away. With his eyesight practically null at the moment, he relied on his hearing to help him manage to dodge the attack.

M.A. had been to astonished to release anything but a small squeak at first; she then stood there like a plank, dazedly watching herself be hugged by this large bee-like Pokemon. This wasn't like any hug she'd had before, she thought distantly. As if she weren't really quite there, she found herself strangely thinking that the Pokemon's nuzzle was quite soft. . .

In a moment, a red light devoured the Beedrill, leaving a stunned and silent M.A. blinking confoundedly. Daemyn looked at his trainer worriedly, having not reacted quickly enough to do the same for her as he had done in Ilex Forest -- she wasn't screaming like before, though, for one reason or another. Rather, the girl was just standing there. A few moments passed, however, before she made any noise -- surprisingly enough, it was not anything resembling a scream. No, Mary-Anne was laughing -- chokingly at first, but loosening up as she went on. "Yes," she gasped at Ky's inquiry, barely breathing through her fit of giggles and the one or two tears that collected at the corners of her brown eyes but went no further.

She couldn't exactly understand it herself, but suddenly the prospect of seeing that Bug-type again didn't bother her so much anymore. No, she was still scared of them, she knew /that/ much, but it wasn't anywhere near the same intensity of terror -- perhaps more of queasy discomfort, or something like that. But they weren't horrifying monsters, wherever she had gotten that notion; her reasoning had known that before, but her subconscious understood it now. "Sting, right? D'you think. . . I could see him more, and get used to him? And ... maybe Crenu's Spinerak, too?"

The Houndour at her feet lifted his brow skeptically at his trainer. What kinda change was this all of a sudden? Weird girl. He didn't trust that she'd take it all too well, but hey, she looked like she was ready to try it out.

Deciding he'd rather hear the rest of the story later, Keegan clenched his teeth as the Mega Drain hit Althena. Even though she was a tough little thing, the poor darling couldn't stand up to successive super-effective attacks like that, and with a little sigh, she slumped over in Moeder's pouch. Keegan sighed, mentally applauding the youngster's efforts as the Psyduck was recalled in a telltale flash of red light. "How about you wrap this one up for us, Helios. Time to turn up the heat." Helios materialized beside Moeder, and he stared up at the massive Kangaskhan apprehensively for a moment before he stepped forward, expelling his signature Heat Wave attack upon the two fire-susceptible opponents. Illumise had managed to avoid Moeder's jaws by escaping into a Quick Attack, only to be roasted seconds later. Placing both hands on his hips and narrowing his eyes, Keegan waited to see what the condition of Roselia was before he issued another command.

The girl stomped her foot and whined. "You...Oh!" she clenched her fists, "If you're not continually hurting him with fire, you have to go off and poison him, too!?" Trish did not seem impressed.

Kilik raised an eyebrow. "Not a fan of poison, huh?" He took her silence as answer enough, "Be happy I didn't choose to use Weezing, then. He's a regular poisoning machine." The boy ran his thumb over his nose, "Although, he may not know he's poisoning anything." At that moment, he could almost hear Weezing cry because his honor was insulted.

Octillery moved forward, the poison slowly sapping away at his health. "Naerrr!" it whined, rearing his head back for a Water Gun. No way he was going to lose to a Fire-type.

No way was he going to lose to a Water-type. Flareon jumped up and released another Smog attack, watching Octy inhale it once more. The Pokemon coughed and sputtered, blasting the Water Gun harmlessly into a tree. Flareon landed softly on the ground, taking a paw up to his eyes and rubbing softly. When he opened his eyes again, most of the ink was gone and his vision was restored to at least eighty percent of perfect. It was enough for Kilik's next command for a Bite attack to hit its mark perfectly.

Octillery winced again and then closed its eyes. The Pokemon fell onto its side and passed out, unable to continue. Trish gasped and held up a Pokeball. "Octy, return," and the octopus was engulfed in a red light and disappeared, "Gee! You were quite interesting, Kilik!" She laughed, "And I hope you beat those three sisters." The girl picked up Flareon, who did not flinch, and cleaned his face up with a hankercheif that she had in her pocket. Letting him go, she turned her back. "Maybe we can battle again one day."

Kilik nodded and let Flareon run up his arm to his shoulder where he belonged. The Fire Pokemon's vision was back to one hundred percent and this pleased the little fox. Walking through a patch of grass, followed by a few turns around a clump of trees, Kilik found himself on the edge of a city. Ecruteak City, to be exact.

Shadow on the slightly more offensive side raced foreward skidding at Shining. The effect caused the loose layer of topsoil to puff up at his sister. She however had other ideas. Spinning her tail in a circle she blocked almost all of the dust from entering her vulnerable eyes. The amount that did make it was gone after a few blinks.

But Shadow had not finished with that one Sand Attack. He intended to keep up the pressure. Though he always liked being defensive his opponents being on their guard was always a welcome change. Since his skid was sideways he continued on using some of the momentum to race at a 90 degree angle to his last charge. Turning around and coming in again this time he kicked up the dirt with his hind legs after pasing by. Shining wasn't quite prepared for this time and was hit sqare in the face. Her vision lowered temporarily she had to rub at her eyes.

But the tears caused by the sand worked to her advantage. Showing a sad face with the tears welling up in the corners of her eyes, she wagged her tail innocently in a way that no opponent would be able to fight off. Shadow was easily taken in and his defensive pose changed to a much easier target.

Moeder made an annoyed sound as her attack missed. However she was distracted from that when she felt her 'baby' faint in her pouch. Looking down she was able to catch Althena being sucked away back into her pokeball. Giving a small suprised cry she looked around and caught Helios being sent out. After the the fox pokemon had released its Heat Wave she dashed over to him and picking Helios up she made a cooing sound and stuck the fox in her pouch. It was a good thing that the Heat Wave whiped out the Roselia as well. Even with the added health the attack had been super effective knocking the grass pokemon out.

"Well it looks like we won." Dante said with a smug look on his face as he cast a glance over at the cosplayers. "We work just find with our pokemon with out the need to look like idiots."

Shiro Crenu
"Heh, looks like that shock was exactly what she needed." Crenu chuckled as he watched her laugh. Her reaction was amusing, though it wasn't exactly what he expected. Taking the second pokeball from his bet, he held it up to his face and grinned. "You heard her Spinarak, it's time to get comfortable." Crenu tossed the ball onto the ground near his feet. The red light shot out up onto his head and Spinarak formed. She immediatly started snapping he pincers at the sight of the Houndour, still mad for growling at her earlier. "Easy girl, no need to get worked up over nothing."

Kysono
"Hm? Are you sure?" Ky asked, not really understanding her sudden change in disposition. "Well, okay... Come out, Sting." The ball released and Sting came out again, this time with his forearms at his waist, giving Ky an irritated look. "I'm sorry buddy. I tried to tell you that M.A.'s a little uncomfortable around you," Ky explained.

Hearing this, Sting sulked a bit. Sting didn't want her to feel that way about him. Ky laughed.

"Don't feel bad! M.A. really likes you! She's the one who told me to bring you out again," Ky said.

Sting's heart lifted. It appeared that he was about to zip over again before Ky interjected. "Now now, take it easy. She still needs to get used to you," Ky said. Sting nodded. Not so quickly, Sting flew over to M.A. and bowed, giving her as cute a look as a Beedrill could, waiting to be pet.

Little Guy chirped in Ky's hands. When Ky looked down, it appeared Little Guy was jealous of Sting's attention. "Psh, Little Guy, what are you complaining about?" Ky joked, scratching beneath his favorite feathers.

Melphaligal the Challama
"Rocky hang in there and when you can Tackle that annoying pokemon!" Toph yelled trying to cover up her worry for her new pokemon. Rocky glanced over at his trainer through the assault of Scratch attacks that the Paras was landing on him. Upon seeing her determination filled his rock body and with a loud cry he snapped out of his paralysis for a moment. Body now free to move Rocky dashed at the Paras in front of him Tackling him with all of his strength. Apparently this was enough for the Paras who fell to the ground in a dead faint. Rocky gave a loud cry of victory and levitated swiftly over to his trainer enveloping her in a bear hug before passing out himself. Sighing Toph recalled the fainted pokemon and with a small smile on her face she put it back on her belt. Crossing her arms over her chest she gave the Youngster across from her an arrogant grin. "Well looks like you are defeated."

"I may be defeated but you still have to beat four more of us!" He said before taking off to the nearest pokemon center.

Grinning toothily Toph moved on ahead to the next trainer. Edge watched his trainer go for a moment hoping that he would at least be able to battle this person. "Hey your number two right? Well I am ready lets battle!" She shouted at the young girl who was to be her next opponent.

Melphaligal the Challama
The other girl, who was at least a year older then Toph, and at least five inches taller then her looked over. "Oh you made it past the first fighter? Well then I am up next. A one on one pokemon battle." She said with a smirk.

Toph just grinned back putting her hands on her hips. "Yeah thats fine." Taking out one of her pokeballs she tossed it out to reveal Queeny. Edge was disappointed that he would not be in this battle either. The arrogent little Nidoran just lifted her nose up and gave the other trainer as she watched her toss out her own pokeball. A pretty song started playing as the other pokemon was released, it was a Jigglypuff.

Curious Toph took out her pokedex and and scanned the other pokemon. After that she flipped it shut and stuck it back in. "Well that certiantly is a weird pokemon you have there." Toph said as she felt the light pokemon out. Not that it really mattered what it weighed she would still be able to feel it out. "Well Queeny lets start this off with Double Kick!" Queeny just grinned and dashed at the pink pokemon.

"Jiggly use Defense Curl!" The Picknicker shouted. The Jigglypuff nodded and rolled into a ball glowing as her defense was raised just in time. Queeny's hind legs came crashing into the other pokemon. Even though normal types were weak agains't fighting moves with the Jigglypuffs high health and just raised defense the attack didn't do as much damage as it usually would.

Daemyn, of course, shot daggers with his eyes at the Spinerak, being defensive as he usually was. In his cocky little way, he growled, "I've taken care of plenty of you spiders in that forest over yonder --"

But he didn't get much further with that, for Ulani sweetly muffled his muzzle with her cottony wings as she landed gracefully on his black head.

M.A. felt that old panic rise up in her chest, but she subdued it with a few, slow breaths; the Beedrill's expression helped a bunch, too, and for the first time, she saw not just red, beady eyes, but the meaning behind them. "Aw. . . You're really just a sweetheart in there, aren't you?" she murmured, hesitantly reaching out a hand. She stopped just before contact, lingering there for a moment, before letting herself pat Sting's head. An involuntary shiver jumped into her for just a second, but that too passed along with the very first moment of contact. Weakly but genially, she smiled, petting the Bug-type with fondness she didn't even expect from herself.

Although she had seen several Spinerak in Ilex Forest, she definately hadn't grown accustomed to them yet, and a deer-struck look swiftly flashed through her eyes as she saw the pincers snapping angrily. She limply withdrew her hand away from Sting, although she did give the Beedrill a good final rubbing for his kindness. "Easy, boy," she said softly to Daemyn, speaking more to her racing heart than the already muffled pup. C'mon, M.A., they're not bad at all! What's wrong with you? She thought fiercly to herself, biting her lip and thinking of how surprisingly sweet Sting had been. And if I'm gonna face Bugsy, I can't just freeze up all the time. . . I'll let 'em down, she added, quickly tearing her look away from the somewhat mad Spinerak to Daemyn and Ulani
