The school didn't look normal. The reason for that lay in the fact that somehow, someone had managed to get big red cartoony hearts decorating the building - and oddly enough, it looked like paint. Except that the painter must be extraordinarily fast, since they weren't there mere hours beforehand...
Or be a mage, anyway.
Strung across the double doors that led into the school, was a large banner that read "Happy Valentines Day!"
It was when one entered the school and followed through to the auditorium that the decorations seemed even more surprising.
The room had been seperated into two sections...the second section was the odd one, as it seemed to be a gigantic, red playpen. And red was putting it lightly, considering that everything was covered in big red hearts. The playpen was littered with stuffed animals and little toys...
Upon entering the auditorium, there was a little table with a bowl of candy hearts on it, with a sign saying "Take some!"
Also within the room (asides from rather over-done decorations) were speakers (blaring love sonnets at the moment, although where the speakers got it was impossible to see) and tables that had various snacks, as well as punch bowl on it.
Various articles of furniture littered the room - very strange ones, at that...not only were their tables and chairs, but it looked as if there were a few mirrors, an occasional wardrobe - and it looked like there might even be a non-functioning stove in the corner! How odd...
The very center was cleared for dancing of course, so one needn't worry about bumping into furniture.
Standing near the snack table were two familiar mages: what was unfamiliar, was their clothing. The announcements said no required dress code, so why was Ahneta dressed as some sort of Greek Goddess, and Dacian as a pirate...?
((Alright, here we go. When you enter, take a handful of candy hearts and when your character eats them, use the 'roll a die' function to roll a 12 sided die. If you get a 2, roll a 6 sided die in the main thread. The children can have some as well, but the rolling is just for guardians.
Children: when put in the playpen area, roll an 8 sided die. If you do this in your first post, roll it in the main thread, otherwise just do it in your post. There are also a few other things that will require rolling, but they aren't important right now...))

((Oh! And I forgot...)) Upon one of the tables, there's also a mist machine. It's not excessively pouring out mist, thankfully - just barely enough to obscure the ground, and it seems more for atmosphere then anything else.

The decorations were definitely cheering Natalie up, no matter how over-the-top they were. Michael had called only an hour before, to tell her that his meeting was running late and that he might not be able to come at all. Still, she had her hopes, and Ophiera had been bouncing around all day in excitement.
It probably had to do with the dress the little girl was decked out in. Natalie had gone a little out of control - kind of like Dacian's (she assumed) decorations - and the dress was covered in frills and lace. There was a little heart clip in Ophiera's hair, and her shoes and little hearts on the buckles.
Natalie shifted Ophiera onto her hip as she entered the auditorium, laughing as she saw how much more wonderful the decorations got. She took a small handful of candy, then looked around expectantly.

((I'll assume she ate the candy, since it's neccessary for the fun ^^))
As Natalie took the candy, something surprising happened. It looked as if light shifted from toes to the top of her head~ and then, with a poof of black smoke (that didn't smell, oddly enough), she had changed.
Or rather, her outfit had: she now seemed to be a mad scientist, complete with hair sticking straight up, crooked glasses, and white lab coat.
Dacian grinned at Natalie as she entered.
"Natalie! So how do you like the place?"
((the rest of the costume is up to you, how it is ^^ that's just the basics)

Natalie blinked at the smoke, then looked down. The candy had been good... but she probably wasn't going to eat any more of it any time soon!
She wondered if the heart-patterned skirt was really necessary for a mad-scientist, or the spike heels. Ah well. At least Ophiera liked it - she was giggling and tugging at her mother's now-frizzed-up hair.
Natalie looked up at Dacian, wearing a crooked grin. "Love the decorating. Your idea? Or are you behind the costumes?" Keeping an eye on him (you could never be sure what he may or may not have planned...), she went over to the playpen and set Ophiera down. Then, for a moment, she looked at her daughter and smiled. "You have fun, you hear? And remember, if something's wrong, touch your belt. Kay?"
She had put a little beeper into the belt, a cheap one that made her phone vibrate, in case something went awry.
Ophiera nodded and, smiling, trotted off to look at all the hearts. Natalie straightened up and looked over at Dacian again.

Another social event, great. After the last one Ari wasn't sure she wanted to go again. It felt as awkward as being young again and back in school. She had been alone most of the night, most likely due to her own lack of assertiveness, but it still hadn't been too fun. But Ina had had fun...so it would be unfair to deny her the same opertunity this time. She was an adult, she could handle it. Right?
She walked slowly into the auditorium, Ina's hand in her right one. She was dressed in a skylish lavender skirt with a pretty white top, simple but at least somewhat spirited. Ina, however, was in bright pink with hearts all over her dress and little heart clips in her hair. It was far easier to doll up the little girl then herself.
She took some candy hearts from the bowl, since one HAD to have some since it was valentines day after all, and gave half of them in Ina, "Don't eat them all at once." She warned, slipping one into her own mouth.

"The decorations were mine, but the costumes were Ahneta's idea! Thanks the gods she didn't go with her usual thing for all of them..."
Receiving a mild glare from the direction of the person in question, the pirate-clothed man stepped closer to Natalie and whispered something to her.
"But anyway, I feel sorry for whoever gets some of those! Some of the costumes are a bit on the revealing side, and she didn't make those different based on gender..."
Stepping back, the mage grinned, while sticking his tongue out at the other mage in the room. His only response was an amused shake of the head.
Dacian's costume, now...it was obvious Ahneta had designed it. The shirt was open to reveal the chest, and the pants seemed slightly tighter then neccessery - and combined with the bandana that swept his hair off his face, and the overall look of the costume...
The mage had gone from 'cute' to something a good bit more attractive.

As Ophiera was placed within the playpen, a little stuffed animal was right by her. A little fox, with orange fur and a mischievous little grin.

As Ari ate the candy heart, something strange happened. The girl was surrounded by what seemed to be a cloud of dirt, swirling up from the ground, before it faded away. And her clothing had...changed?
Arianna was now apparently a cowgirl. Complete with boots, hat, and even a surprisingly short skirt.
Huh. Since when did cowgirls where skirts that short?
Dacian looked up from his conversation, to grin at Ari and wave at her.
"Hello!"

"Oh," Natalie said simply. After another moment, she caught herself staring and turned away quickly, laughing nervously. She was taken, please! No noticing other menfolk!
"Er. I guess it'll end up being... interesting?" More laughter, though less nervous this time.
"So, is there anything big planned for tonight? I'm still a little scared by how ominous the invitation sounded."
Ophiera turned to the stuffed animal, grinning big and picking up the fluffy toy. She snuggled it against her. It was small and so cute! Not as cute as dollies, but cutecutecute and so soft! Hm.
She pursed her lips, wondering what she'd name him. Hmm... Well. She'd think up something later. But now... it looked like somebody new was coming!

Ari was no stranger to magic, but she certainly hadn't expected that!
...especially the skirt.
She instinctively pulled at the skirt with a squeak and uncomfortable blush. She was more on the conversative side, never wearing anything very high above the knee...well she supposed it could have been worse. At least her top was normal. And a cowgirl wasn't so bad...er...right...? She was quite the animal fanatic after all. "O-oh goodness, you guys went all out, didn't you?" she said with a nervous smile. Eh...so this was why they didn't want pre-worn costumes. "I'll be right back," she murmured with a quick nod, making a dash for the playpen, dragging Ina along too.
She put Ina in beside Ophiera with a small smile, "Now...you be good, ok? And do listen to me about the sweets, ok?"
Ina looked up at Ari with round eyes. Wow, mommy had changed clothes fast. She wondered why she didn't know that trick! "Ok mommy," she chimed before stuffing her fist in her mouth, full of candy. Haha, so much for listening to her about the sweets.

"Now, now - if I told you, what would be the fun?" Anyone who knew a prankster would get a bad feeling at seeing Dacians face, right now. It practically screamed mischief.
Ahneta chuckled at Ari, her lips curving into a smirk. "Why thank you. I'm glad to know you like it."
Or rather, amused by the girl being embaressed.
As Inanna was put into the playpen, a little stuffed animal near her caught her eye - a puppy! It had brown fur, and big brown eyes...how cute!

"Oh, come ooon. You can't let me be a co-conspirator?" She stuck out her bottom lip, turning on as much sad puppy charm as she could with her hair sticking up like the Bride of Frankenstein.
Ophiera, meanwhile, toddled over to Inanna, a cheerful (if possibly vapid) smile on her face. She stood near the girl, waiting for her to notice her.

Ari hovered a bit longer by the playpen, perhaps to regain a pinch of composure before heading back over. The costume had done nothing for her nerves. Normal social events sent her on edge...let alonge VALENTINE ones with changing costumes! She reluctantly went to join the other adults, wishing absently that she was a toddler again so she could be with the other children instead. She had a feeling tonight might be a little rough.
Ina peered at the dog with interest, her gold eyes blinking. Mmm....she had stuffed toys at home but...this dog was different! "Puppy!" He chirped distinctly, before grabbing in and tugging at it's ears. "Mr. Puppy, you shouldn't be all awone. You will stay with meh!" And that was that. Mr. Puppy was her new friend.
Her ears twitched though, quickly noticing as the other toddler came over. She was very alert, yes sir! She grinned widely, "HEWO! Who're you?"

Dacian couldn't hold back a laugh at Natalie's expression - it wasn't so much the expression that was amusing, but combined with the outfit it was hilarious.
"Sorry, Ahneta already has that title! But don't feel bad...even Hadrian doesn't know what we're doing! He's supposed to show up at some point, but since he was gonna work up until the party, he might be a bit late."
Silly work-a-holic.
Shifting his gaze to Ari, he offered her a much warmer smiler then Ahneta had given her.
"Hello there! How're you doing tonight? Like the decorations?"
Of course he had to plump up his ego a bit.

Rolling her eyes and wishing she could be as evil and plotty as Dacian and Ahneta, Natalie left Dacian and Ari to talk. She took a stroll around the room, investigating all the odd furniture. She was especially fascinated with the stove.
Ophiera smiled back and waved, then pointed to herself. She was herself! It wasn't really a hard concept. Names were important, she understood, but why did they have to apply to her?
