((Anybody want to play?))
Two blue eyes watched as the world around her slowly began to fade. From nights crisp shadows, the eve was waning and the hint of morning was slowly taking its place. The blacks were turning in to greys, with the stars slowly retiring their positions in the skies. Yes, even the white dots that twinkeled high above in the heavens needed to retire at some point. And while most of the world woke up to begin anew, it was not time for evening to rest.
The greys ahd shifted in to violets, and from violets in to a rosey pink. The dawn was beginning to shine its soft light upon the world, and for that, Ravii was pleased. It wasn't often the female was able to enjoy the graceful movements of the (as she phrased it) "in between times". Dusk and dawn . . . both elegant times of day, each with their own vibrant palettes of colour.
This morning, the cream and violet female wolf had made it a point to study this change. The beauty that radiated about the woods at this hour was delightful - long shadows made longer still as the sun progressed. The winter skies were clear this day, and it seemed not a creature stirred.
Did any see such a sight?
Well, wehther they did or didn't, Ravii decided to sing. Taking a deep breath, the female threw back her head and sang a greeting to the world around her. The howl was nothing more than a greeting to the world and perhaps an acknowledgement to the morning she'd witnessed. There were no words (of course) but there surely was emotion and meaning. The song was just that - a song - and a gift for her small world.
Her voice echoed off the trees around her, and shattered the glorious stillness of the dawn.
But that was all right.
Eyes closed, the wolf sang her song without fear or judgement. Hopefully, the dawn would appreciate the gesture.

(( laaame entrance XD pardon it *sob* )) Maverick padded slowly through the forest, his auburn eyes attached to the sky. He was never really out this late, so seeing the sun rise was a rare event for him. He enjoyed the way things changed and became so different. From a silent night to a world of life, birds singing, smaller prey rumaging through the leaves and...wolves howling? Maverick paused, his sable ears perking as he heard a wolf's song. His ears rotated a few times as he tried to narrow down the location of the singer. The howl was so natural, so raw, so free. Curiosity surely got the best of him as his legs seemed to move on their own, guiding him toward the song.

Ravii's continued her song, oblivious to the world. The female, so used to her lone days, had come to love the art of song. It made the best company on many a lone night. Of course, Ravii wasn't often the one singing - she just as frequently enjoyed to listen to the songs of others. Of the strangers she never bothered to seek out along her travels - all the serenades a wolf could sing: the joy of family, the grief of death, the celebration of a good kill. Even the howls meant only to warn others away, the songs that came with protection over land, all were music to her ears.
The female didn't take their gift of song lightly, and thus, her greeting to the dawn was as such. As the sunshine grew stronger, burning away the rich pinks and oranges in to a more washed out yellow, Ravii finished.
With her greeting made to the morning, she opened her blue eyes and smiled. Slowly dropping her head back to a more settled position, the cream and violet she-wolf couldn't help but be content. It was going to be a good morning this morning, or so she believed.
Empowered by her call of the wild, the wolf kept half an ear open to see if any others would greet the day as well.
Possibly, possibly not. The woods had been quiet as of late.

Maverick frowned as he heard the song slowly end. He had liked it, having never really heard any other wolf howl in such a beautiful manner. Perhaps he could get the wolf to start up again so that he could find out where they were. He was a bit self conscious of his own howl once he thought about it. Why would he wish to taint such a beautiful song that still danced around him with his retched howl.
However, the need to find the singer, overpowered his hesitation, and he soon lifted his head toward the sky and howled, as best he could, in answer to the wolf's song.

Her ears twisted around and stood straight as another voice broke through the early morning air. Part of Ravii grew cautious as the voice wasn't all that far away. It didn't sound like any of the wolves she'd met recently, though the song wasn't one to threaten and scare her away. She was on neutral land, afterall, and had absolutely no interest in any of the surrounding packlands.
Ravii knew her place in the world, where she stood and her lot in life. And out alone was perfectly as well as a spot as any.
She listened to his song, before curiousity got the best of her. Still absolutely radiating with the confidence her morning serenade had empowered her with, she decided to be bold. Perhaps he was looking for an encoure?
This time, her song wasn't one greeting the rising sun, but a song meant for the stranger. While he continued his song, she rose her voice to compliment his own, though she clearly let him lead. It had been a long time since she'd sung with another.

His tail began to wag as he heard his call answered, his maw curling back into a smile. She had answered, so now it would be much easier to relocate her. And how much closer he had gotten! However, how could he run and sing at the same time? It seemed she was only singing with him, not for him. His ears rotated a few times as he started to trot toward the singer, his howl becoming a bit lower as he tried to concentrate on the world around him. The last thing he wanted to do was smack into a tree when he wasn't paying attention.
He soon came upon the other wolf, dropping his head slightly in a neutral manner, not wanting to arouse any anger or hostility form his intrusion. He paused before howling agian, showing who he was in a sense.

If Ravii noticed the lowering of his voice, she didn't give any sign. Of course, she wasn't born yesterday, and could tell that his song was drawing near. While howling, one couldn't exactly hide themselves from the rest of the world.
But she didn't mind, for once. She wasn't overly concerned about who this stranger might be - if she hadn't wanted the world to know where she rested, then she wouldn't have sung. And if she really had been concerned about Maverick's presence then she would have bolted silently away when his call had been heard.
So it was no surprise, of course, when she found herself face to face with the source of her duet partner. A sniff of the air, of his scent, and Ravii had a clearer understanding of whom she was meeting. His gender, whom he'd run in to recently, general whereabouts of his journeys, and other such valuable information.
A moment, then two, and Ravii let her wolfsong slowly fade and die. As it was, though, the cream and violet stained female could now better introduce herself to the newcomer. She kept her body language as netural as his own - her ears rested lightly back, her tail relaxed and completely down. She wore a friendly smile, and good natured humor that defined Ravii's personality glowed from behind her eyes.
There was no such hostility in her composure.
"Greetings," she responded amicably, allowing the tip of her tail to wag softly. "Or perhaps a good morning is the appropriate word."

Maverick smiled brightly, his tail wagging only slightly behind him as he approached the other wolf. He had a tendancy to pace when he was staying in one place for long, so he decided to take a seat in front of the other wolf, staying a safe distance out of what could be her personal space.
" Good morning indeed," he replied. " Its amazing this early in the morning." He was speaking of the view. Like he had mentioned to himself before, he was never really out this early, or should he say this late?

Ravii watched as the violet, black and white furred male sat down before her. She admired his coat, if only because he was the first wolf she'd met who had violet fur like her own. She didn't feel quite as a different compared to some of the others that she'd met - some who had more natural colours.
Taking a cue from the other, Ravii sat down as well, offering him a small smile before pawing playfully at the ground. She was in such high spirits she feared she'd start prancing. Ravii was very young at heart, and it often showed in her antics and games. Having been an omega in previous, short-term packs the female had become a pro in turning a mobbing in to a game. To keep agression away from her and to turn the wild, almost frenzied emotions of others skillfully in to play.
So thoroughly had she learned the art of play that it sometimes expressed herself even when others weren't present. Anything to break up the dull monotony of a day, she figured. Games were harmless - tail chasing, raven tag, and others of similar variety. So now, energized by the early mornings light, Ravii feared if she kept standing she'd burst in to a game of chase.
Ears pricked forward as Maverick agreed with what Ravii had just sung. "It is an amazing sight," she agreed, blue eyes glowing. "I fear the sunrises are often overlooked, and such mornings missed. That's why, every now and then, I feel it's good to give tribute to the dawn."
Tail curled around her paws, she ducked her head. "I'm Ravii."

Maverick watched the wolf before him, noticing her somewhat inability to hold still. Was she similar to him in that sense? He was used to his 'sister,' Kirra, whom could hold still for hours. However, no one could seem to match her speed if she were ever moved to run. He supposed spending so much time with Kirra got him all couped up inside and made him antsy. She was so playful when she was younger too.
He nodded, agreeing with Ravii's comment. " I don't usually get to see such sights. I'm either passed out or too busy to stop and look." He paused looking up at the sky yet again. " Something so beautiful deserves tribute, I'm sure it enjoyed your song." He looked back at Ravii and smiled.
" I'm Maverick."

Ravii gave a little laugh at the violet ones "excuses" for missing such beautiful sights. She didn't judge him, though, nor blame him. "I myself often overlook it as well," she admitted with a grin.
The female couldn't help but be pleased by his compliment. Had mother nature and the dawn enjoyed her tribute? Part of the female hoped. The energy that radiated from the sun and lit the world, the energy that ran from one creature to the next. She didn't really understand any of it, but she knew it was there. A cycle was all it was - from one being to the next, from song to spirit.
Too confusing to truly contemplate, especially so early in the morning! AND with a new aquaintance speaking to her.
"A pleasure to meet you," Ravii greeted, blue eyes bright. Falling quiet, the female suddenly realized she wasn't exactly sure how to proceed? Did she continue on her way and say adieu to the stranger, or stick around? Did she chatter on and question him or keep quiet and allow him to do all the questioning. Oi ve . . . being social sometimes took a bit for Ravii to comfortably achieve. It was rare that she so boldly went out of her way to meet new wolves, so she couldn't help but be a bit rusty when it came to first-meetings.
Finally, the female decided to press on, curiousity getting the better of her. "So what brings a wolf around this early in the morning?" Breakfast? Returning to a pack? Territory run? Perhaps he was on his way to turn in? There were a million of reasons and excuses to be up this bright and early. Which one would Maverick choose?

Maverick chuckled at the question offered to him. Why was he out this late...or was it early? He would have to decide this later. But either way he thought about the question. Did he really not know why he was out here? Call him crazy, but he had forgot entirely.
" Uhm well," he began, pausing almost instantly to think about his answer. Would his pausing make his new friend think he was hiding something? Oh he hoped not. " I really don't remember." He decided the truth would probably be the best bet. " I probably went out on a stroll to get some fresh air. Or maybe I was sleep walking. Its really hard to tell with me, I guess."
He grinned sheepishly for it surprised even him that he was talking so much. Maybe he was too cooped up in that den of his. Kirra would be astonished.

Ravii was not a suspicious female, so Maverick's concerns could be easily subdued. She was too independent to be concerned about those she met, too strong willed to let herself think too much thought in to a matter. Ears relaxing back, the cream she-wolf ducked her head almost apologetically. "I suppose it was a bit prying of me, wasn't it? Whatever the reason, it matters not." She reassured the violet one, though her ears held there slightly flattened pose.
"I myself haven't a clue what I'm doing, singing to the world," she continued mildly, looking up at the male. Yet another friend to have been made, and for that, Ravii was pleased. More and more her decision to return was being proved a good one. She'd met so many wolves, all of which she considered at the very least new acquaintences.
Maverick was now one of the few.
Now that Ravii was awake, the days routine of survival would begin. Food would need to be captured, so that meant the majority of the day would be left to hunting. The she-wolf would probably try to capture some fish, before moving on to other game. As a loner, her meals were small and inconsistant snacks - she improvised as she moved along.
Unlike those with family and packs, Ravii had to eat smaller meals much more frequently then others. . and there often weren't leftovers or scraps to come back to.
Perhaps she'd ask if - No no. That was ridiculous. She wasn't that desperate, and there was no way to tell what the others plans were. He might have a pack, he might not. Maverick was still a complete and utter mystery.

" I don't mind your asking. I truly don't know why I'm out here." He should return to Kirra, or did he really need to? As alpha he should return to his pack, however, he felt a bit adventurous today. Besides, Kirra had other pack members to be with and hunt with, she would do just fine without him around. Now that he thought about it...
Maverick's stomach chose to growl just then, and the tri-coloured male's ears folded back out of embarrassment and annoyance. Should he even be hungry by now? When was the last time he ate? And where the heck was he anyway?
Auburn eyes suddenly darted around his surroundings, his ears rotating in order to catch any familiar sounds. He stood then, moving in a small circle around the spot he had been sitting. No animal scents thus far, but where were his manners?
Maverick turned back toward Ravii then, smiling brightly. " I believe breakfast is in order. Care to join, or would I be stepping over some ethics." He was still new to the other pack interaction and such. For all he knew they were only a mile or so away from her pack, and his being in this area was a big nono. Or perhaps she was a loner, much like his Beta, Tasuba, used to be before he joined their pack. Either way, he would be forgetting his manners if he didn't at least offer before ditching her.

Ravii was oblivious to much of the males history. The scent that the slight breeze offered her was typical. He was male, he was healthy, and various other scents meant that he'd been around others. Whether they were wolves from a pack, or mere aquaintences, the female couldn't be entirely sure.
But. . . .
Besides the basics, she was at a loss. It would require much more communication to fill in the details. At the sound of the growl, Ravii's ears twisted forward before relaxing again. She hadn't been entirely starteled, but it was enough for her to rise and shake out her fur. Licking her nose, the female kept her blue eyes on Maverick as he circled, from the looks of things, attempting to catch smell of . . . anything.
"Breakfast would be wonderful," if Ravii's pleasant nature could radiate any more, the female would be absolutely beaming. It had been a long time since she'd had the oppurtunity to hunt with another, and even if their game was nothig different then what she typically feasted upon, two made for better luck than one. The female had managed to keep herself fed enough for survival but her weight tended to vary from week to week. Some days prey was more abundant than others, and some days she had plain bad luck.
This morning, though, might mean breakfast was a smidge closer to guarenteed. "Have anything in particular in mind?" She asked with a friendly laugh. Maverick was a mystery, and he might know the lands by heart. Ravii herself knew the area well, and had quickly learned the terrain. She easily could dodge other packlands, and based upon the neutral ground around them, had found where food frequented most.
Given, her diet consisted mostly of fish, rodents, and occassionally birds. But that didn't mean she didn't know where larger prey grazed either. All he had to do was specify and the hunt could begin.
Together, who knew what prey they could stumble across. . . . if luck were with them, of course.
