Uzulu shuffled over the sand, his eyes stung as the wind blew sharply into them. But he had spotted somebody, not too far off, and they were clearly not Firekin. Slaves shouldn't be wandering so far from their master's homes. It was a liability, and he'd be more than welcome to pick them off if they were just another rogue.
He wanted a gift for Kaanga, besides. She'd seem more than a little enthralled with darling No, and he thought this was a slight jealously towards the fact her brother had a slave and she did not.
Upon approaching, however, Uzulu almost had second thoughts. If this creature were in fact just a rogue, he could easily be taken down by the awesome size of him. If Uzulu hadn't known better, he might have thought Firekin blood ran through his veins. He must have been naturally big.
Still, bravery got the best of him, and he was hot on the poor soul's trail, ears flattened, tail flicking.
Mpaji, it seemed, took quick notice of the other. He stopped, sensing the presence of another, and turned his nose in the air, quivering slightly. Ears rotated on their axis, until at last his steel grey eyes located the figure of a male on the sand nearby. He didn't like the looks of this.
Should he go confront the male, who was most obviously stalking him, or run like hell in the other direction? Upendo'Mpaji didn't think he'd make it too far. He was good on the tackling of Motomilia and killing the sand with his sharp tongue, but running? He was to large for that. The Firekin would take him down in a second.
But there was another scent nearby. It was most definately Motomilia's scent, and he had a scapegoat. Grinning from ear to ear, he stuck his head back into the driving wind and started forwards, heading off towards that scent he knew so well.
"Moto?" he called when he felt he was close enough, peering about for her through the rough world.
Back aways, Uzulu, too, had caught the aggravating scent of Motomilia, and his brain assessed quickly. He guessed the yellow was this ones personal slave. He didn't know how very wrong he was.
