Roger has HIV which will eventually become AIDS. He, Mimi, Collins and Angel all have it and there's a lot of ways to tell. In 'One Song Glory' he says 'Before the virus takes hold' obviously referring to his illness and how he wants to write his song before he's killed by the AIDS. Also, in La Vie Boheme, right before 'I Should Tell You' Mimi says 'AZT break' but it's Roger's beeper that goes off and then he asks her 'You?' and she says 'Me, you?' and he nods which confirms that they both have it.

I thought in One Song Glory he was referring to his dead girlfriend, April, and as i have no idea what AZT is i just thought it was something to make him a little less miserable sweatdrop How come Collins and Angel dont take AZT breaks?
Thanks very much, i'll let my friend know she was correctamundo 3nodding

I always thought it was MIMI'S beeper going off, and Roger was the one who checked his by mistake- then when he realized it wasn't, he noticed Mimi taking her AZT.
O.o

If you watch the movie with the commentary on (Adam Pascal, Anthony Rapp and Chris Columbus, I totally recommend it) they're talking during that scene and Chris mentions that it's Roger's beeper going off and Adam's like 'That's my beeper? Really?' so it's kind of funny.

In the movie, it's Roger's beeper that goes off, and Mimi takes her AZT then anyway. In the play, it's Mimi's beeper that goes off, and Roger checks his, thinking it's his.
I wish they had Mimi's go off in the movie. It would've made more sense. Why would you take medication when someone else was supposed to?

I'm sorry but is it not obvious? that's what one song glory is about. He and mimi tell eachother they have aids right before "i should tell you." roger's aids is also a big part of mark's character because mark is the only one of his close friends who isn't sick.
