The female laid happily by the water hole. Her mind wandering as it usually did. She was so much like her older sister even if she had never met her. She didn't like males unless they were telling her how amazing she was and she didn't like females because they took the male attention away from her.

Spoilt probably wasn't the right word for how she acted, vain and power hungry could possibly suit it a little better. She was beautiful in her eyes, the most beautiful, she was also of royal bloodline, more so then her stupid cousins and her aunts mate, now he was a rogue which made it even worse. Pfft.

She was a lonley lioness but it was how she liked it. She was happy and though she liked the lands she lived in she felt like wandering, find the lands that her father was from. She was a curious creature after all.

Ushukuru padded from the swaying grasses that surrounded the wateringhole, feeling the golden strands stroke his hide. He almost matched them, and it made him happy to think he was so suited to this place. A true prince of the Pridelands, for sure.

A parched throat drew him forward, and he crouched by the water to lap up the cool liquid. It soothed him and let his voice roll more smoothly from his maw, the gentle flicking of his tail giving away his enjoyment of his simple task.

Time had changed the juvenile, bringing him into his near adult size as an adolescent. Even the tuft of brown on his head had thickened and lengthened, hinting at the proud mane it would one day become. Gentle red eyes slitted against the glare from the water and the male settled back on his haunches with a pleased sigh, scanning the surrounding area rather absently.

Latifu heard her brother approaching and at the sight of him groaned a little. Family, ugh. She didn't say anything as she would rather him not notice at all instead of her having to pretend to be nice and caring and all that rubbish that she most definatly wasn't.

Her blue eyes watched the blue water, or more her reflection in the water. She had to admire herself, after all she was the prettiest thing alive!

Unluckily for Latifu, Ushu's eyes did come to rest on her, and when they did, his ears fell back. He'd never been all that close to his siblings as a child. From his family, only his mother seemed to have any real connection to him. He'd liked how they'd matched, color-wise, and his highest goal in life was to be strong enough to make her happy with him.

And there was his sister, brooding over her reflection, and he realized that he really didn't know much about her beyond her name and that they were related. They'd maybe played together a little, but Ushu had mostly steered clear of the girls when it became apparent that they'd cry if he got to rough with them.

Clearing his throat awkwardly, he called out a greeting to his siter, tail curling around his paws. "Um... hey there, Latifu. Nice day, isn't it? You look well."

Well? She looked better then well. How dare he! She stood up immediately and glared at him.

"It was a nice day. Unfortunately things don't go the way you wish sometime." Well indeed. Stupid brother. She looked better then well, she looked amazing, beautiful, adorable, irresistible! Brothers, useless and a waste of space.

"Haven't seen you around much." She wasn't complaining but she might as well make some sort of conversation with him. He was her brother.

Whinced at the glare she directed his way. Could he never do the right thing when it came to his sisters? They made him feel like a stupid, oafish brute... when all he wanted to do was get along and enjoy life.

"That's true I suppose..." He said softly, dropping his gaze to his creamy paws. "I've been... buisy. Just exploring and, uh, playing, here and there. I havn't seen you around much either, really." His tail twitched gently as he dug his claws into the packed earth, watching as they dug deep gouges.

What should he have said? She did look well. Well-fed and healthy, her coat smooth and well kept, her whole figure growing into its adult proportions. She'd be beautiful, if he was any lion but her brother. It never really occured to him to view her in that sort of a light

If he had admired her in a different way when he first spoke he would have seen a very different side to his sister.

"Hmm I have been here and there minding my own business." That was true at least, she had been minding her own business so not to get in the way of anyone. She was happier on her own most of the time.

"Seen mother and father alot then?" This was genuine as well. She hadn't seen either of her parents in a while and wondered how they were sometimes. It seems she did have a soft spot for her family after all.

Ushu glanced up from where his claws cut into the dirt, a loose shrug rolling his shoulders. "Mother mostly, not Father so much.... And I mostly wander a lot and hunt, so I'm not at the den that much." His paws kneeded at the ground, shifting him back and forth, as he spoke. The sun was warm on his tan hide, helping to relax his body even though it did nothing to calm his mind or emtions. Even the soft breeze that ruffled his dark growth of mane did nothing to distract him from his uncomfortable position.

He didn't think he'd ever be comfortable around his sisters, or really any female besides his mother. They were just... too strange. Their minds were too different from his own, and everything they did just confused and flustered him.

She nodded not really interested. Maybe her father had gone off to the lands of her grandparents.

"I am going to see our grandparents." She made it sound rather posh and that she was the only one who could travel somewhere she had never been before without any problems but either way seeing her grandparents and the land they rule could be nice and show her another place that she can call her own, or try to.

The tan adolescent's ears perked at his sisters words, a small frown rumpling his forehead.

"Yeah...? Do you, um, think that's safe? I mean, its great that you want to visit them and stuff... You're just not... going alone are you?" A little bit of concern touched him, something that did happen occasionaly. He cared for his family, for the fact that they were his family, more than because he was close to all of them. Latifu was his sister, he should be concerned about her going off by herself to a strange place neither of them had ever been.

His dark-tufted tail flicked gently, curling back against his flank in his distraction. It seemed a habbit with him, to figet when he was nervous.

Latifu couldn't help but smile kindly at her brother. Maybe she had a soft spot for family as well.

"Of course I am going on my own silly! If father is already there he can't take me and mother has you lot to put up with!" She laughed which stopped suddenly as she caught the tone of her own voice, it sounded happy and that just seemed odd.

She shook her head and licked at her paws. Stupid brother making her act like something she isn't.

Ushu smiled crookedly as his sister laughed, an small answering chuckle sliding from him. It was nice to see her laugh, it helped ease the strain a little.

"Yeah, Mother does have a lot to look out for with all of us, but still... Its a long way between here and there, where father is. What if you got lost, or some rogue decided you'd make a pretty little slave?" The thought made him shiver in disgust. Rogues... you couldn't trust them, and the lands outside were riddled with them.

An idea came to him and he shifted from paw to paw, thinking. "Why don't you... take one of our siblings with you? You're better to go in a pair and look out for each other. Hunting would be easier too, you know..." He was kind of at a loss. Well... he could take her, but he didn't really have a desire to leave the Pridelands. What would he do outside them? They were his home.

Latifu laughed, "Oh dear brother I really can look after myself. It won't be too hard to find the place, I could ask mother the way, would that be better for you?" She had no intention of asking her mother but for now it would be better to say such a thing to her brother then to wait untill he offered himself up to come with her.

"Rogues won't harm me, no one touches me. You should know that!" She laughed a little and turned to look around. Maybe she would leave today, yes it sounds like that would be a good idea.

Ushu shrugged as he shifted uncomfortably, eyeing his sister.

"No one bothers you because you're the grandchild of Mufasa and Sarabi... outside the Pridelands, no one will care about that. I just... don't want anything to happen to you, Latifu. You're my sister, I'm supposed to act all brotherly and stuff." Lifting a paw, he ruffled the tuft of dark mane growing in behind his head, torn over what he felt he should do, and not wanting to change his usual routine. On one paw, he should do what was right and accompany her to see their father. On the other, he didn't want to leave, and the journey would be both dangerous and probably boring... Its not like she seemed one that would be inclined to talk with him and help to pass the time. And there was so much he wanted to do here, too.

Uncomfortable with his thoughts, he shifted around, then rose to pad to the water for a drink. Anything to relieve his inner tension.
