This story shall start with:
Out of the shadows of his dream world there came the man again. He had had this dream so many times before, the man, like always, would just fade away and leave him in the darkness. Then came the screams. The ear-rending screams that shattered his soul.

It tore through his whole body, boring into his skull like a rabid creature: clawing and ripping it's way to his core. Then, just a quickly as the deafening screams had started, they stopped. With a noise that sounded strangely like a death rattle, he regained his balance and focus, just like he always did. He needed to prepare for the horrors that he knew would come next... just like every other night when he had this dream.

He tried to open his eyes, to wake from this darkness, this fear, but he seemed transfixed. All he could do was wait and watch. The man came again but closer and whispered two words, "kill me." To his horror, his arm rose and in his hand was a dagger painted black with darkness. He stabbed at the man and the blade met no resistance as it slid between the man's ribs. As the man fell, he regonised it, as he knew he would, to be his beloved twin brother, Sem.

All at once, the surrounding darkness that had so eerily drifted about him suddenly rose up in a terrifying roar, then came crashing down on top of him, like an immense wave of fear and hate. The black forces slowly eating away at his presence, he reached out for his brother, though he knew he wouldn't be there. The corpse was descending into the invisble floor, giving off a misty blue aura. As Sem vanished, his brother fought to beat back the darkness, choking on the smokey clutches as the screams started again. It sounded like the rending of five worlds, and as he began to loose focus, he saw a skelatal hand reach towards him... it's decayed fingers slowly enclosing around his throat... it's broken body creaking over the noise of the screams... the fear as it picked up the very dagger he had used to kill Sem... The skeleton got closer. The black knife shone at the blade's edge. And then... Jareth sat up, flinging the covers off his sweating body. His head and heart were pounding at a decidedly unhealthy rate and he was panting from shock. Regaining control of his seemingly unresponsive body, he shook his head and wiped his brow, before getting up to look in his mirror. "The dreams..." he muttered to himself. "They're... they're getting more vivid..."

The next morning, he staggered downstairs his eyes wide and droopy from lack of sleep. He had not dared to close his eyes again after he had woken. "Are you feeling ok?" Sem was sitting at the oak table in the small kitchen eating, and had turned around when he entered the room. Jareth looked up at Sem at a tear trickled down his left cheek.

"What...?" Jareth murmured, snapping out of his reverie. His brother looked at him, a concerned, yet friendly grimace spreading across his face. "C'mon: a problem shared is a problem halved... what's wrong?" "N-nothing... I... I just had a bad dream... that's all..." "There's a girl you like, isn't there?" Jareth couldn't help but smile and almost felt like laughing at this comment. "Huh, I wish..." Sem folded his arms whilst Jareth reached shakily for a piece of burnt toast from Sem's plate. "Very well... but just remember, I'm always going to be here when you finally have the guts to admit it!" He rose from his chair and walked boldly out of the room. Jareth's smile fell almost immediatly. No Sem... he thought miserably, the memories of the nightmare flooding back. You won't always be there for me...

Jareth sat down heavily at the table, raising his captured piece of toast to his mouth. It tasted like ash, even beyond the black crust. Chewing mechanically, Jareth tried to dispel the lingering horror of his nightmares. He could not remember when they had started, but every night they returned to torment him.
Jareth shuddered, the memory of his dream-brother's body forcefully summoning itself. Fratricide in itself was terrible enough, but to look down on a corpse whose face mirrored yours was enough to curdle anyone's stomach. Grimacing, Jareth swallowed painfully. Where are these dreams coming from? he wondered to himself, rubbing his weary eyes with his free hand.

His tormenting thoughts were thankfully interrupted when, with a noise that sounded to Jareth like of a dying bagpipe that just didn't know when to give up, the door bell rang. Sighing wearily and sweeping the blackened crumbs of toast off his shirt, Jareth slowly got up and went to answer the door.

A man stood there. Well, at least, that was as much that Jareth assumed. Rather, what met his eyes was a figure swathed tightly in a tan raincoat with the collar turned up, a dark fedora, and a black muffler covering most of his face. The only way he was sure it wasn't a log dressed like a man and stood upright was the fact that he saw two icy blue eyes peeking from behind the scarf. The man was abomnibly wet, and drops of sweet rain pelted from his coat as he stood in the doorway, uncertain.
Jareth glanced at the clock. It was far too late for any usual callers.
"Hullo?" Jareth's question hung in the air tenatively.
With a sigh, suddenly, the man fell forward onto the ground, as though he were a tree felled by a lumberjack minus the cry of 'timber!' The dark hilt of a Celtic-style dagger was visible in the man's back.
Jareth's hand hesitated, then touched the growing red spot on the raincoat. His hand came away dripping scarlet.
It seemed that his mysterious visitor was stone dead.

Jareth stood... shocked and terrified in his rusting doorway, the rain hammering down on the man's bloodied back. He shakily began to step away from the corpse, eyes darting from the stranger's prone figure to the gorey weapon responsible. It's handle had the same markings as the dagger of his nightmares. "SEM!!" Jareth screamed, turning on his heels and stumbling blindly through the house. "Yes?" his twin answered pleasently as he burst into his room. Jareth leant, panting in the doorway. "Call an ambulance..." Sem stared strangely at his brother, who was now shaking uncontrollably. "I beg your par-" "Just call the damned ambulance, Sem!!"

Jareth went back to take a closer look at the visitor. Gingerlly, he turned the ever-cooling face to the light, unwrapping the muffler.
The man was about thirty, with straight caramel hair. He had a not unhandsome face, with high cheekbones and a distinguished Grecian nose. His eyes, as mentioned before, were an impenetrable, icy blue. Jareth had the hardest time gazing into them without becoming entranced. They were almost hypnotic, in an illusionistic sort of way.

In the man's icy blue glazed over eyes he noticed fear and worry. As if he was leaving something important behind. Sem hurried back exclaiming "I have called the ambulance...Is.s. the man dead?" Thinking to himself, who has attacked this man? Are they nearby? Was my dream a premonition?
