I got into a Japanese class! biggrin Yay! (Advanced) and its like a school thing so I have it every school day until June. biggrin 97 classes and I get a credit. But for a homework assignment, I dunno if this makes sense.

こんいちは。私は---です。１５歳の高校２年生で

す。カナダのオタワに住んでいます。毎日は高校へ行きます。私の家族

は４人家族です。両親と私とお姉さんです。お父さんとお母さんは

離婚します。お父さんはアルゴンクイン大学の教師です。お母さんは

看護婦です。お姉さんは高校４年生です。それから「エルブアンドスパイス」

食料品店員です。

料理が好きですが、少し料理します。日本語と漢字が好きです。なぜな

らば楽しいは勉強します。でも私の日本語の話し方は上手じゃない

です。もっと勉強したいです。

What I mean in English:

Hello. I am ----. 15 years old and 2nd year high school student. I live in Ottawa, Canada. Every day I go to high school. I have 4 people in my family. Parents, me, and an older sister. My father and mother are divorced. Dad is a Professor at Algonquin College. Mother is a nurse. My older sister is a 4th year high school student. Also she is a grocery store worker at ---.
I like cooking, but I cook a bit. I like Japanese and Kanji because it is fun to study. But my Japanese's way of speaking is not good. I want to study more.

The first paragraph is fine, but the second one I'm not sure about. (My teacher taught us this but I suck at conjunctions razz )

It's good overall, though there are a few odd sentences. I understood it though. So your teacher should be able to as well.

I am pretty sure that when you are talking about your own family you do not use the honorable version of the words.
母 (はは) instead of お母さん, 父 (ちち) instead of お父さん, 姉 (あね) instead of お姉さん etc.
You would use the honorable version when talking about someone else's family.

料理が好きですが、少し料理します。<--- This sentence is very awkward. It's kind of saying more like... "I like cuisine, but I cook a bit." I think this would get your thought across better: 料理するのが好きですが、あまり料理しません。which means "I like to cook, but I don't cook very often."

お父さんとお母さんは離婚します。<--- I think this is saying "My mother and father are divorcing." 母と致知は離婚しています。would be better, meaning "My mother and father are divorced." [Te-form of verb + imasu being a resultant state (they are in the state of being divorced as a result of the divorcing).]

それから「エルブアンドスパイス」食料品店員です。This sentence threw me off a bit. I think there should be a の after the name of the store (not 100 percent sure) and also after 食料品店. Another option would be: それから「エルブアンドスパイス」という食料品店の員です。"Also, she is an employee at a grocery store called 'Herb and Spice'."

Well, I might just be being nit-picky here, but if there is anything that isn't clear let me know.

Thanks Synonymous! You did most of my work for me. smile There's also the second sentence basic error. You're putting your last name first, when you should put it last. Just like in England and America since you are a foreigner, and it should look something like this: シェルドン•デイフリーピーといわれます。

You still have a few basic errors. Look at what Synonymous wrote more carefully, you're still putting partical "wa" in the amari ryori sentence, you don't need it there. Also, you're using Otousan, Okaasan and Oneesan instead of chichi, haha, and ane. The honorific O is typically used when speaking about other peoples families. If you're close to your family (sounds like you are) use the chichi,haha, and ane.
