A streak of pale tan and blood red zoomed past the flock of birds seated quite happily on a small bush, sending them flying with indignant squarks and cries, the small creatures swearing in their little twittering way as they watched the hyperactive Soquili that had disturbed them race along the beach, his feathers ruffling, sand kicking up high in a smooth arch before falling back to the ground. The brids settled once more, watching their galunadi-udo, twittering away still.
Tawali didn't notice though. His green blue eyes were twinkling with mischief as he darted past imaginary foes and leapt high, wings making him travel further as they snapped open each time he jumped. He was ful of energy he neededto expel, and the broad lip of the land that made up the beach of the Soquili lands was the perfect place for expelling it. He hadn't seen Ever for a while, or any Soquili for that matter! He'd just been wondering without much of an aim, thinking through things, considering his next move in the game he had come to learn was life. He missed Ever, and had been planning on finding her at some point, but he had felt a tug on his being around this area, a sure fire fact that Ever and his feathers must be close.
Slowing, Tawali looked out to sea. The waves were gentle, only a small white head to their small brows. They racing into the sand, clamouring to get higher. Tawal watched the water just grace the sand below his hooves and took a step forward, watching the next wave come up the beach and leapt back before it could grab his legs. He liked this game, how long would it be before the sea got the better of him and actually caught him? Well, Tawali decided that he would see how long it would take the sea to outsmart him. He whickered loudly, revelling in this new game.

Once again the birds were sent flying from their perch as the copper red mare rushed through the brush, kicking her legs up a bit in her play. She felt great. She felt wonderful! The bird chattered away angrily as she left them in her sandy dust.
The smell of the ocean greeted Ever Sacrifice's muzzle and she snorted a bit, the memories flashing back to when she had never seen the sea before in her life and didn't know what dangers it held. She still didn't trust it one bit, since Nicole didn't seem too trusting to remain in the surf.
A flash of red caught her gaze up ahead, something that probably wasn't normally seen at the beach. She slowed down to a walk, the sand clumping together in the groove of her hooves as she circled to come towards the stallion from behind. He seemed to be playing some sort of game, walking to the water's edge and then leaping back from the cold water's touch. She stifled a giggle as she moved in closer before she let out a loud whinny behind him.

To say he startled would be an understatement. Tawali tumbled head first into the lapping, freezing water with a screech and was almost sucked out further, but digging in his front hooves in the wet, sucking sand saved him. He sat, legs splayed and sand splattered along his sides. His braided tail wafted around in the water as it sped past him as the freezing water went past, back up the beach. His face was a picture of pure disgruntlement, ears drooped down, mane soggy and dripping all around his face, eyes shut against the salty water. Slowly, the thoroughly soaked stallion got back to his feet, tail dragging on the braids and picking up sand. Shaking like a cyote, Tawali snorted indignantly and waked past however had scared him, eyes still screwed shut against the sand and salty water one his face. When he was on dry land, the stallion leant his head down, rubbing sand off of his face on his equally sandy foreleg. All the time he was mumbling under his breath in his naive language. When he had removed sufficient sand to look at his attacker, he scowled at the red and flaxen blur before him. He couldn't make out any identifying features as his eyes were watering so much with the sand and water of the ocean.
"Wha' the 'ell d'ye think ye was doin', Soquili!" He snorted angrily, trying to lift his soaked and sandy tail off of the ground. "Wha' if there was wolfies in them there woodlands? Ah can' run na', an' Ah can' see! Wha'll ye do with ye fun an' games then eh?" Tawali was clearly worked up. What had he done to deserve such a dousing? He didn't think he had been rude to anyone unknowingy lately, in fact he'd spent most of his time either alone or with Ever, had hardly even seen another Soquili! Snorting as a large clump of sand slid down his nose into his nostril, Tawali shook out his mane and tried to flap his wings, with little effect. They were clogged with sand and water, and he wouldn't be flying for a few weeks with all the sand that would be dropping out of the fine feathers. Ears still drooped, Tawali turned his still watering eyes to the Soquili before him. "Speak, so I may rec'nise ye in the future."

Ever had fallen to the ground when he had hit the water, rolling on her back and kicking her legs up in complete laughter. It was a high-pitched whinny that escaped her lips. She didn't know what had come over her to pull such a prank. She moved her head enough to take a look at his sprawled appearance and laughed even harder. She really shouldn't have since he looked so pitiful.
She finally managed to sober up enough to roll back to laying on her hooves when he moved passed her and began to speak. She noticed that his cyan eyes were shut, so there was no way he could tell it was his heart that scared him. She grinned cheekily and pushed up to all fours, "'Tis a fine greeting, my heart," she said, pretending to have a wounded tone. She mock sniffled and stepped closer to him, using her tail to brush off some sand on his flanks.

Tawali recoiled visably when Ever's voice cut through his anger and hurt, and it went straight through to embarrassment and hurt. She thought this funny? She could run! He wouldn't be able too if it was necessary, and he certainly couldn't fly! Too much damned sand! He sniffed himself and walked past her once more, dipping his face into the lapping water in an attempt to get rid of the sand that kept sliding down his face. He felt gritty and horrible, his mane, tail and wings thoroughly clogged, himself thoroughly upset. That was definitly a visable ailment for the usually boistrous stallion, though the tension in his body lines was slowly disipating as he calmed himself.
"Ever... Wha' was ye thinkin'? Lookit meh!" He lifted his dripping wings, the feathers making his wings look small and insignificant they were so wet. He closed his eyes against the sacralidgious state of his wings. A Wind was well known for the care given to their wings, but right that moment he looked like he had left them to get really greasy and wrecked. "Ah'll be sat up fo'ours sortin' them there wings!!" He sighed dramatically and looked at her, a slight frown to his features. He shook his head, a wry smile on his mouth, unbidden. "Oh Ever... Why can' Ah stay mad at ye?" He pressed his muzzle to her own and he perked his ears up a little. "Ye mus' promise no' to do tha' te meh again, ye hear?"

She attempted to keep a very straight face, though the corner of her lips were curled a bit every time she snorted a bit of laughter. He did indeed look very ruffled and bedraggled, seeming quite ordinary now. "What was I thinking? How to keep you grounded for a little while," she said with a wink. "Now it seems you need this mustang to keep a watch out for ya, huh?" She couldn't help but grin widely with every word.
She shook her head when he nuzzled her, leaving traces of sand on her muzzle. It felt so itchy. She had forgotten how itchy the stuff could get. He must feel horrible with it almost all over him. "I promise I wouldn't find my fun with you landing in sand again," she said with another large smile. "Will that work for now?"

Tawali seemed to visablly ponder the promise, before nodding his asent, with a muttered, 'it'll do'. Bracing his legs, he shook, sand fallng from him in gritty clouds as he took a quick step and kicked ut his hind legs, mane sticking out at odd angles, braided tail matted and dirty. He didn't even dare try to think of his poor wings. Looking to Ever with a small grin, he turned his back on her and slowly made his way up the beach, stopping at the edge of the forest where the ground was ore stable and knelt down, floding himself into a laying position, spreading his wings to the sunlight and drying them.
"Ye best keep tha' promise, Ever. Ye'll make me most unreas'nable if'n ye do tha' to me again!" He chuckled and shok his head, mane shaking with the movement. He really looked a state. Glancing at Ever, he smiled, his blue green eyes inquisitive. "What ye doin' this far fro'ye Two-Leg? Didn' ever es'pect teh see ye this far fro'ye mountains!" He settled down for the long wait or his wings to dry. Only then would he be able to resore them to their proper state.

Ever followed behind him, twitching her long tail to rid herself of more energy that was bubbling up side of her. She seemed very playful today, ready to do anything, bringing her legs up high in the air.
She snickered again at how pitiful he looked, but loved him all the more, even in such a disastrous state. She nuzzled him gently, grinning almost from ear-to-ear. "I always keep my promises." She nipped lightly at one of his ears before pawing into the snow, looking for green sprouts.
She brought her head up, a few pieces of grass sticking from the corner of her mouth as her flaxen forelock moved over one eye again. She chewed, thinking over why she had been making her way down here anyways. Then it dawned on her and her face brightened. "I decided to wander around a bit and try to run into some old friends again." She tilted her head, the grass still there at the corner.

Tawali chuckled at her hyperactivity, reaching out his long neck and stealing one of the blades of grass, swallowing it quickly with a wicked gleam to his eyes. Sitting here wouldn't do with his love so hyped and playful. He stood, the ear she had nipped flicking around to rid the lingering sensation of the n**. He returned the gesture with a cheeky grin and bumped his muzzle against her's.
"Ol' friends eh?" He smiled and looked around the deserted beach. "An odd ol' place t'e loo' for Soq'ili, with all them's rumours'a Kelp'es flyin' round about's." He looked at her inquisitively. "Ye no'h friends wit' one'a them's are ye?" He chuckled and shook himself once more, before motioning down the beach. "How's'about we's head tha' way? The river's down there, an' I reckon's I may go for a swim."

Ever tilted her head to the side, puzzled by the word "kelpi." "What's a 'kill-pie'?" She had only known regular Soquili when she first came to these lands. Winds, Ali, Uni, and Kalonas had been all new to her and created many questions whenever she met them. She was still full of questions. "Isn't the water going to be on the cold side for a swim?" She dug her hoof in the snow again and pulled up another mouthful of grass.

Chuckling, Tawali stood and looked at her critically, as if to say 'and the alternative?'. He bumped his muzzle against hers and started to walk past her, recounting what he remembered of the Kelpies.
"No, no' Kill-Pees. K-EL-pees." He said, humor permeating his voice as he looked over his shoulders at her. "They is said to be most evil. They make' two-legs feel sorry for 'em, draw 'em into the water, then eat 'em, yes indeed!" He muttered, remembering back to the stories. "I' may be fiction, just a story fancy, but ye can' be too careful wit'em." He laughed a little and kicked up his heels. "C'mon, no more talk'a sad thin's my love, I'll race ye to the river mouth!"

She glanced behind her at the water splashing on the beach. So she did have a good reason to be scared of the water. "They eat two-leggers? What of Soquili?" She picked up her pace to walk beside him, nervous about exposing her back to something dangerous.
Her ears perked up when she heard the mention of a race. The tension and fear left her instantly with a playful smile. "Ready to eat more sand," she asked as she dug her hooves in kicking off the sand.
