Damu'Jicho had made the executive decision to leave the watering hole and his family behind. Haba, his twin, had wandered off, so there was no point to stay, even though he'd had the extreme desire to follow her. Sadly, she'd gone off too fast for him to ever catch up to her. But he couldn't stand to be around the rest of them...especially his brother. So, the juvenile lion decided to go on his own adventure - towards the forest. He'd never entered there alone - he was scared to death to, though he'd never admit that, or that he believed all the ghost stories.

He stalked through the tall grass, the only parts showing of him his sparse bits of black mane. He paid no mind to the racket he was making as his paws crunched twigs and small pebbles. He wasn't hunting, nor sneaking up on anyone. Plus, as he neared the forest, he thought noise might keep whatever was in the forest inside.

Damu angled his path slightly, heading towards the main path. Shadows from the tall trees began creeping over him, engulfing his tan body in a darker hue. He raised his dark eyes, flipping his tuft of black hair back. He didn't hear...anything. Not even birds. Just the faint wisp of wind through the tall branches. It was just so...eerie, and dark. Even the sunlight beaming down didn't lighten its depths. Flicking his tail nervously and gulping loudly, he sat down on the rough path. He'd heard of creatures going into the forests and never coming out again...He certainly didn't want to get lost, for that would mean never seeing Haba again. So, debating this decision, he sat there. Must've looked quite odd to the passerby.

Pink eyes watched the brown lion as she rested upon the branches of a tree in the forest that the other was afraid to go in. Her green fur helped her blend in quite nicely with the leaves that served as her cover. Laughter rang out as Weusinafsi watched his antics. Finally she stood on the branch that she had been resting on and jumped from it.

Gracefully she landed mearly feet away from the juvenile. "Are all lions this strange?" She inquired generally amused by his actions. Her tail flicked behind her absent mindedly as she waited for a reply from him.

Damu's eyes had slowly begun to sink in the heat of the day. A nap was almost beginning to sound good, in opposition of entering that dreaded forest. A yawn opened his mouth, and seconds after he'd closed it and licked his nose lazily...the forest made noise. It was the creak of a tree limb and as the young lion looked franticly, he had the scare of his life up to date (not counting, of course, the times he couldn't find Haba - those were normal scares).

As the large thing of green landed in front of him, Damu let out a terrified roar and tried to back up. He only manged to stumble over his own feet and tail, however, so he tumbled clumsily to his back. His first frightened thoughts at this were that his belly was exposed and whatever spirit had just attacked him would surely try to steal his soul! Trying to scuttle backwards quickly, his dark eyes happened to glance towards what he believed was a tree spirit only to see that it was rather...solid for a ghost.

Eyes still wide and lungs heaving, Damu remained propped on his side. "Where...where the hell did...did you come from?" (Dirty mouth! >D) Damu gasped, his voice still slightly quavering with fear. He'd regret this, of course, once he'd calmed down and regained at least a minor bit of his dignity.

Nafsi's laugh rang out once more as she watched Damu's form attempt to scuttle away. Lions were amusing creatures atleast. "For such a cute thing you aren't that bright now are you? Ah well sometimes appearance makes up for the lack of a brain." She purred. It was both and insult and a compliment at the same time.

The leopard then brought one of her paws to her maw and gave it a lick. "I was in a tree, but your antics just amused me so that I decided to drop down and chat." Nafsi chimed. Her pink eyes glistened. "Now tell me why does such an innocentely cute creature as yourself use such bad language?"

Still breathing rather heavily, Damu pushed himself to a sitting position. He shook his head, flinging the small bits of dirt and other earthly paraphernalia out of his small mane. "I'm not..." he began, but found that his senses hadn't quite returned to him. He was still a little addled about the whole situation, so he finished up lamely with, "...stupid."

He grunted, staring at the green creature with a furrowed brow and untrusting eyes. "I'll use whatever language I like," he said. That wasn't entirely true, however. If he'd been around his mother, he would've earned a hard cuff to the ears. "What are you anyway? And why are you in our lands?" The young cub, though already quite sizable for only a juvenile, fluffed his mane up in an attempt to look more intimidating, if only to regain some bit of dignity back. But he really had never seen anything like this creature. It looked similar to a lioness, so it was definitely feline. But the coloring was so weird...The only bright colors he'd seen were the red pelts his father and some of his siblings possessed, but otherwise his world had been a place of dark, rich earthy tones.

"Tsk, tsk, tsk. Such poor manners."

Her silky voice cooed to the young lion as her pink eyes studied him and his movements. After all body language told the leopard everything she needed to know of anyone.

"Now, now, I never said that you were stupid, just some of the things you have said have proven, that you are not overly bright yet not completely stupid and hopeless.....Yet."

A smirk crossed her spotted features as her long tail wrapped around her paws.

"I am a feline. I am a female. I am an adult. I am myself. I am a leopard."

So much for simple explainations eh?

"I am free to go where I wish. It just so happens that I have come upon here for a visit if you will." A slight shrug of her shoulders at that point.

He wrinkled his nose, opening his mouth to say something along the lines of also having whatever sort of manners he'd like, but the brightness comment stole his attention. Brows furrowed, one could almost see the miniature storm cloud bubbling over his head. "I'll have you know I'm the brightest out of all my siblings," he growled, fluffing his fur up. This wasn't exactly a true statement, as some of his siblings were probably much brighter than him. Damu just didn't realize that because he simply didn't spend much time around any of his siblings, besides his twin.

Still on his huffy track, he continued. "But outsiders aren't supposed to be able to get through the forest. How did you do it?" Yet...there was something about cubs that never ceased: curiosity. A hint of this trait crept into his voice. "A leopard...? What's that?" His head tilted to the side slightly.

A smirk crossed the older feline's features. "Well then, if you are the brightest then your siblings must be pretty dim." A chuckle escaped her maw next as she took a step closer. "Don't take it personally but I believe that those without manners are not very bright at all, but if you can prove to me that you are bright even without manners I will take back what I said."

"I blend well with the surrounding of the forest, it makes it easy for me to go in and out of one unnoticed, which is exactly what I had done." The just older than a cub had sparked interest within the leopardess and it was amusing to hear his responses. They weren't the wittest but with some work they could be, but it would take time. "Now be a dear and let me know your name?" He asked him while also almost demanding it.

The indignant little cub had opened his mouth the retort, but thought better of it. He shrugged. He really couldn't argue with that statement...Except with Haba. He and Haba must have the exact same intelligence, seeing as they were twins. "I do too have manners," he said huffily, scuffing his paws in the dirt before him. What he neglected to add was "when mother's around". When Syeria wasn't around, Damu was a ball of malice and rudeness.

"Damu," he said. "Damu'Jicho." But names really weren't his concern. This leopard, whatever that was, had actually been through the forests. This amazed him, for Damu didn't realize that creatures passed in and out of his pride's territory at all times. It was just a...strange concept to him, an almost frightening one. Not even bothering to ask for her name, he inquired absently, as if he was trying to hide his curiosity. "What...what's it like in there? The forest, I mean?"
PostPosted: Sun Feb 25, 2007 6:43 pm

"Do you know? Then why don't you prove it?" Nafsi inquired raising a brow. The green feline then made a Tsk,Tsk noise since she was disappointed. "It's a shame, you could have so much potential."

"Damu." She repeated after he finished speaking, "Now tell me why should I tell you what it's like when you can explore the forest yourself and learn more than if anyone ever told you?" That was one of the reasons the leopardess prefered to do things herself and learn things on her own than be told by someone else and not really find or learn everything she could.

Intelligence was almost as important as manners to the female

Damu was thoroughly confused by this green female. Such talk of manners and potential were things he got repeatedly from his mother, but from another female? He was completely blown away by the concept of obeying someone other than family, even if they were older than him. Shaking his head, he shrugged and decided to completely disregard the section of the conversation. It held no potential, in his eyes.

He pawed at the dirt before him, tracing small swirls in the loose soil. That was a tricky question. Why didn't he just go himself? Well, because it was dark, frightening, and full of monsters and ghostly things (or so his bedtime stories had said). True, he did rather like learning things on his own...But he could easily pass up learning about the forest from personal experience. (If only he'd kept this ideal as he grew older.)

"Well...because it's...you know," he said. He then raised his eyes sheepishly, lowering his voice. "Haunted."
PostPosted: Sun Mar 04, 2007 7:08 am

"Haunted?" She repeated in a questioning tone. "I can assure you Damu, that it is not haunted, if it is, I saw no ghost." A chuckle came from her as she shook her head. "If you wish to see what is inside of the forest, I will accompany you and show that despite what you think, or what people told you it is not haunted." A pause and then a shrug "It was probably just something made up to keep you in line." Nafsi told him with another shrug.

"You are free to believe what you will, however how will you learn of things that you really want to know if you are not willing to take a risk?" The leopard then questioned. "If one does not take risks, then I say they are boring but it all depends on personality, intelliengence, bravery and all around composure, or imagery." A smirk before she finished with "That is my personal opinion though."

The forest...not haunted? Damu couldn't believe that! Thousands of legends in his pride had been based around the spirits that still lingered within the depths of the forest. But Nafsi had made it through in daylight...That was it! It wasn't haunted during the day. "Maybe they don't come out until night...?" he said uncertainly.

The young lion flicked his tail irritatedly. Him? Boring? Pfft. "I take plenty of risks. And even if I didn't, that wouldn't make me boring," he growled, brow wrinkling in frustration. "Someone doesn't have to do anything to be interesting. There's something interesting about everyone, regardless of personality for how smart they are."

He made a 'hmph' sound, and got to his paws. "I think I'll pass on the trip to the forest. I would rather not intrude on my pride's beliefs or your time, ma'am."

(( D: sorry. couldn't think of where else to go with this. Damu goes into the forest for the first time in a later plot, so he can't go now. I guess we can do an ending post each?))

Weusinafsi nodded at the words of the other. "I respect your decision, I will not force you to go against your pride's beliefs. That would be rude and I prefer to retain my manners...." The leopardess didn't bother to mention that she had been a bit rude to him earlier, even if he already knew.

"I did enjoy this chat we had, perhaps I will return seeking you to chat again and then you can prove that you are smarter that you appear and perhaps by then your manners will have improved." A shrug from the large feline before she rose to her paws and turned away and moved toward the forest. "Until next time, I bid you Adeu."

Damu wrinkled his black nose, thick creases appearing along his muzzle. A small 'hmph' sound escaped him as the leopard turned away. Raising his head in a very proud manner, he flicked his tail and turned his back on the female. However, her last comment about his intelligence made the fur along his spine raise up. What was with this lady? He was still extremely young by normal standards...He had a lot to learn, but that didn't mean he was stupid.

Growling lowly, he swished his tail angrily around his back paws. Not even dignifying the leopard with a farewell, he stalked off in the direction of the watering hole, intending on taking a good nap. To heck with females for the day.
