Can you lead two lives at once? You are a Dreamer, one of the special few. For as long as you can remember, in your dreams you have lead a separate life to normal, acting out realistic yet fantastical scenarios in your sleep. The people and creatures who inhabit them seem as real as 'real life', sometimes more so. Unlike other people's dreams, random and strange yet usually with some connection to their waking life, your dreams are of another world entirely, and continue on from one night to the next just as your real life continues from day to day.
By now, you know your friends in the Dreamworld as well as your friends in the real world. You have been through many realms and adventures together. But you never imagined that you could meet their real-life counterparts....

- Most races are allowed. I'll let you use your discretion when picking a race. But I would prefer not to have any angels, demons, lycanthropes or vampires since they kinda belong to a different kind of rp to this one. I can't really imagine them alongside elves and such ^^
- It would be helpful if you could use a different colour or some such to differentiate between the Dreamworld and the real world.
- Instead of playing a Dreamer, you could also play a normal person who maybe has a friend who is a Dreamer and gets to know about the Dreamworld. Or you could play someone who lives entirely in the Dreamworld. (Yep, it is possible). You don't have to say as such, but try to make it clear.
- Oh, and also - if you want to join, please PM me with a simple profilette giving details of your name, age if you want, gender if it isn't obvious, status (i.e. dreamer, non-dreamer, lives in Dreamworld) and your race.
 (note well)
- This rp was originally created in another forum (which is why the headings have that weird background colour ^^). It can be found here if you want to get a better feel for the whole idea, are stuck for inspiration (but don't steal my friend's characters, whatever you do!!) or if you're just bored. :3
- I will be starting off in the Dreamworld, to give you an idea of what it's like. You can too, or you can start off in the normal world and enter the Dreamworld whenever.
- Sometimes, when in the Dreamworld, you will change realms without warning. I'll do this ^^ and I'll try and make it clear what I'm doing. It won't happen very often though. (And of course it depends on the plot, and whether or not this rp actually gets far enough in to do so...)
- As you'll see from my post, your appearance changes a little from the real world to the Dreamworld, and it also varies slightly from realm to realm in order for you to fit in.
- It's not possible to become a Dreamer. You're either born one or you're not.
- When you wake up and leave the Dreamworld, time will pass as normal until you come back, just like when you're asleep in the real world.
- At the moment, you have no connection to the other Dreamers other than the Dreamworld. You haven't met them in real life yet.... and maybe you won't ever?

A Note On Realms I guess I should have posted this sooner, although I only just realised that I didn't quite have it straight in my head ^^; There are (so far) eight realms: Water Fire Air Earth Forest Thunder Ice Jewels
Each realm has one or two signature hazards - earthquakes and landslides in the earth realm, hurricanes and tornadoes in the air realm, and so on. I can write up a full list if you like.
Each realm also has its corresponding races, and so in order to fit in with the different realms, your appearance will change slightly from realm to realm, BUT your race will remain the same. Your status might also vary in order to fit in - for instance, a water creature would be regarded as an ordinary citizen of the forest or water realms, but in the fire realm, the only water creatures found will be travellers or merchants. A tattoo-like mark around your character's wrist (or leg, if they don't have arms) will indicate their race and status (see my first post).
We are currently in the Forest realm. This realm's signature hazards are floods (from the lake) and undergrowth (you never know what to expect from plants - some are poisonous, some are carnivorous, and some grow so quickly that they can cover a house in a matter of minutes).
The creatures likely to be regarded as ordinary citizens here are:
Land creatures Elves Forest Sprites Faeries Unicorns Wood Goblins Hunter-Gatherers (forest humans who hunt or gather fruit for food)
Lake creatures Mermaids Lake Sprites Grindylow (yes I did get that from Harry Potter razz )
Oh, and any creature that is a half-breed (eg half-elf, half-mermaid) will still be regarded as an ordinary citizen. So if you're, say, half-unicorn, half-pegasus, you will be a citizen of both the air and forest realms.
I hope that isn't too confusing ^^

((Okay, I'll start things off ^_^ I hope some people come after all this =P))
Bryony McIntre materialised on the floor in a crouching position. She always arrived in the same spot. She smiled to herself as she straightened up, knowing that her transportation to the Dreamworld had been successful. Even though she knew it would be, it never ceased to bring a smile to her face to realise that she was back.
Here, of course, she was no longer Bryony. She was Kensukia. This was the name she'd adopted for herself when she was about.... nine, it must have been. When she was younger, five or six, she'd used different names in different realms. They were all rather ridiculous names. But she liked the name Kensukia and so now she kept it from realm to realm.
Her appearance had altered slightly in order for her to fit in with the realm she was in. She looked much the same as she did in real life: fairly tall and slim with shoulder-length hair, but her skin colour, hair colour and eye colour would vary slightly from realm to realm. It wouldn't do, after all, for more than a few trusted people to discover that she wasn't of this world.
This realm's colours had to be her favourites. Her ordinary brown hair was streaked with an iridescent copper colour, which shone bright orange-red as it caught the light. Her eyes were a soft purple-blue, the colour of forget-me-nots. Her skin was a light golden-brown. And as always, her ears were slightly pointed, for she had elf blood. She was half elf, she had discovered, which made her wonder who her 'parents' in this world were.
Kensukia walked out from behind the blacksmith's hut, and as usual the sounds of hissing red-hot iron and the clank of metal greeted her ears. Her attire had changed to match the realm, as well. She wore a simple blue dress over a soft white undershirt and silky petticoat, and had wooden sandals on her feet. A small, delicate chain marking around her wrist, like a tattoo, identified her as being elf-born, and an ordinary citizen.
She knocked on the door of the blacksmith's hut, knowing that her good friend Mariana would be glad to see her again.

((I hope you don't mind if I post)) Argo wandered through the Dreamworld. It was her first time here. This was a very strange dream compared to what she usually dreamt about, though she rarely ever dreamed at all due to her lifestyle back in the real world. She looked at herself in a puddle and nearly cried out. She looked much different. Her eyes were big and blue and her hair was a grayish-green. She wore a pretty, clean bluish-green dress, which she never would have dared wear back in the real world, with bells and ribbons tied to her wrists and ankles. Her fingers and toes were webbed, making her shiver in disgust. Well, at least she had become mysteriously armed with a broadsword. She got up and looked around, lost and confused. She saw a girl knocking on some door that appeared nice, though she was too wary to ask for help.

((Finally reposting this - I'm so sorry it's taken such a long time...))
About ten minutes later, Kensukia exited the hut with a sheathed sword hanging at her waist. At the end of the day, she always left her sword with Mariana since it wouldn't look out of place in amongst all the weapons she had forged. Experience had led her to discover that when she vanished from this world, any extra items that she was carrying on her person were left lying around: weapons, medicine, money.... And so at the end of every day she had to distribute them amongst hiding places or trusted friends, and then retrieve them in the morning. Next, she had to collect her bow and arrows from Orion, the carpenter, and her healing potions from Yamika, the herbalist.
Suddenly she stopped and stared at the girl who was looking at her reflection in a puddle. Wow, what race is she? I've not been here long, but even so I've never seen anyone like that in this realm before. How odd...
Kensukia smiled, and politely said, "Hello, can I help you? You look lost."
((It's not as long as it was the first time around, but it's not bad. Oh, and I almost forgot! What race are you?))

((Kraken. Teehe, I figured it would be kinda hard for them to walk around in land so I kinda invented a human form.)) "Yeah, I'm lost," Argo said, looking around. She examined the stranger, "Oh, what are you? Where am I anyway? What a weird place?" As she blattered on and on, she couldn't help, but notice the sword hanging of of the stranger's waist. Argo was a kleptomanic, she really couldn't help wanting to steal the sword away, though she fought back the temptaition as hard a spossible.

((Ah, I see ^^ Hey, that quote in your sig's from POTC 2, isn't it?))
Kensukia blinked in surprise. She didn't know where she was? That was interesting. Could she have amnesia, this girl? "Um... this is the Forest Realm," said Kensukia tentatively. She looks like she comes from the water realm. "Are you a Lake Dweller?" Most of the races here were forest-orientated - Kensukia was a Forest Elf, and you could also find Faeries, gentle forest guardians, and Wood Goblins, among other races. But from time to time one spotted a Lake Dweller: people adapted to living in the water and all, it was said, descended from one ancient lake creature of unknown identity. Although aquatic races were more commonly found in the Water Realm, lakes and forests had long existed in harmony, so it was not unnatural to find the two races together.

((Well the bottom typing, no, but the icons yes. The Kraken is totally the best mythological beast evah!)) "Uhm," Argo said, shaking her head. "I don't really know. Am I? I really can't tell. Forest Realm? Last I knew I fell asleep behind a dumpster. Wow, they must have the cleaned up the place since."

((Yep, that's what I was referring to ^^ And okay, if you say so :3
*cough* unicornsarebetter *cough* ))
Fell asleep behind a ... wait a minute... Alarm bells were going off in Kensukia's head. She had a feeling she knew why this girl was so confused - or rather, Bryony McIntre did. She had to be a Dreamer! And a first-timer at that. Kensukia grinned broadly. She hadn't had the privilege of someone to welcome her to the Dreamworld when she'd first arrived - heck, she'd been so young she probably wouldn't have understood anyway - but now she was here, and she could bestow that privilege upon this girl.
She seized the stranger's hand and began shaking it up and down. "Welcome to the Dreamworld! You're in for a lot of fun and adventures," she said with a broad smile, and then let go. It didn't quite occur to her to explain herself further.

((Whatever, Kraken totally eat unicorns. domokun )) "The what and the whuh now?" Argo said, nearly getting her arm ripped off. "Dreamer, never heard of that. What kind of gang is that? I don't do the gang thing. This is some trippy hazing if it is."

((Pff, yeah right. Unicorns aren't dumb enough to get themselves eaten by teh big sea baddiez.))
Kensukia blinked twice, slowly, looking totally blank. "Trippy.... hazing....?" You could practically see the sweatdrop forming on the back of her head. "I don't think we speak the same language," she stated cheerfully, seemingly unfazed by this. "Let's start again, all right? Sloooowly." It occurred to her that she might have confused the newcomer somewhat.
She tucked her hair back behind her pointed ears and introduced herself. "Hi, I'm Kensukia." She decided it was best just to go by that name, so as not to cause even more confusion. "I am, for all intents and purposes, an elf." She exhaled, wondering where to go from here, then was struck by curiosity. "Say, what race are you? Do you know?"
It had taken Kensukia a while to figure out what race she was when she first entered the Dreamworld. Her initial realm had been the Fire Realm, and she was hailed as being an incredibly rare Phoenix Child, a small child impervious to fire and guarded at all times by a phoenix. She wasn't, of course, and it had led to some interesting adventures when she wound up being captured by inhabitants of the Water Realm... but that was another story.
At the age of seven, Kensukia - or rather, Bryony - had been delighted to find a phoenix in some fantasy book or other, and although her parents had been bewildered by her insistences that she had met one (still, that was little kids for you, or so they thought), it had sparked off a life-long love of the fantasy genre. Bryony was constantly amazed at the parallels between some fantasy novels and the Dreamworld; she was convinced that some of the authors were Dreamers.

"An...elf? I thought they just worked at the north pole and built toys with santa. Hmm, I miss celebrating Christmas," Argo said, going off a random tangent. She came and said cheerfully, "I'm Argo...I think. I'm not sure why, but I think that's my name. I dont' know what I am."

Kensukia sighed softly. Oh boy... is this ever going to be difficult, she thought. She never envisioned having to deal with a newcomer - she'd only ever had brief contact with one other Dreamer a few years ago, a guy by the name of Marco (although in the Dreamworld he'd gone by Adonis). He hadn't really taken to her, and they'd lost contact after the business with the Realm of Jewels anyway.
Kensukia tried to think back to when she first started having these dreams, but from what she could remember, her situation had been entirely different. She'd been thrown headlong into the Dreamworld thanks to the Phoenix Child myth and subsequent kidnap by inhabitants of the Water Realm, and she'd been so young that she'd just gone along with it and taken it all as normal. It had surprised her, in fact, when she found out that other people did not have the same kinds of dreams that she did.
She wondered if this girl actually knew she was dreaming. One thing at a time. After casting around for a minute or two, Kensukia asked, "I don't suppose you've ever read The Lord of the Rings? Or seen the films?" From the sounds of things, she hadn't.

[*is finally ready to post*]
A head peeked around one of the many buildings in the town, the rest of the body following a moment later. It was a boy, not yet in teenaged years, but close enough to say he was almost there age-wise. His height would never suggest that, though, as he was short for his age, still retaining a look that would make people consider him even younger than he really was.
'He' was named Aiden, as everyone in the realm knew by then. As far as he knew, he had grown up in the realm, but he tended not to think back on the past too much; it just made his head hurt.
A happy spark was in his eyes, an odd shade of brown-red near to one of the many shades that leaves took in the fall, and a gust of wind whipped hair of the same color into the air before it settled back down in its already-messy state, ending just below his chin.
With a small grin, he spotted what he was looking for, and took off at a run, coming away from the building. "Kensukia!" he said brightly as he latched on to her for a moment, then pulled away, the grin still on his face. "I was wondering when you'd show up again!" He then glanced over at Argo, a curious look on his face for a moment before he looked back up. "Who's your friend?"
