Gharadi padded along on his way. He stretched his legs every now and then. He would get cramped up sometimes when he wandered all day. He had already gotten water today, his stomach was still full from a hunt he and his mother had done not too long ago. Life was good, though he still missed his sister. He missed all of his friends. He wished he knew where they were, to go visit them sooner like he did his sister.

Though he hadn't seen her in a while...

He sighed and continued to pad along randomly. It would be nice to have someone to be around out here, someone to spend time with, see everyday, someone besides his mother. He loved his mother dearly, but sometimes he wished to just have someone else to talk to, someone to have fun with that wouldn't get mad at him if he was talking with a girl...

He didn't understand why his mother had gotten so mad about that in the past...

It wasn't fair he concluded. He could have friends that were girls if he wanted, and nothing could stop him.

Nyumbani wasn't a kind of 'girl' you wanted to be friends with. Afterall she had 5 other siblings to protect, and they were either too busy acting or sleeping to take care of themselves. As the oldest, Nyumbani had to strike forwards and take what she wanted, keeping all tresspassers out of her mother's territory. At the same time she had to do everything to please a mother that wanted nothing to do with her.

Well, she couldn't say wanted nothing to do with her, but Nyu certainly didn't get the credit that she deserved.

She'd been getting away from the family, mostly away from Ohahira, who's dramatics had turned vicious when she'd brought Banji home. How was she supposed to know he was going to ruin the family? It wasn't her fault, it was Ohahira's for being so stupid and not warning Nyu before. And it was Tara's, for being born looking just like him.

That's when she spotted him. A fluffy little orangish creature plodding around and endangering her family. She pinned her ears to her skull and slunk off after him, stalking him carefully. She'd have to time this out just right. She didn't want to kill him, just give him a good scare, so he'd run or the hills. Who knew what he was plotting!

When she felt she was close enough she took a running leap at him, shouting, "Just what do you think you're doing?!" as she sprang.

Gharadi was sniffing around, well, not really sniffing, just looking around, peering for something interesting to go look at. Something to go try and climb perhaps, or even just race towards to see if he was any faster then he was yesterday. He was the kind of lion who wanted to be a good son to his mother, but also wanted to have his own life, but still have his mother in it.

He loved her so.

Though sometimes, she became a bit too defensive.

Ah well, things went like that he supposed. Then he heard a voice, he turned around his eyes settling on a figure sprung up into the air jumping at him. He tilted his head and side stepped as to not be in their way..no wait, her way when she landed. He didn't want to get landed on after all, perhaps she just mistook him for someone else.

"I'm just wandering around," he said with a nod, a smile upon his maw, "What're you doing?" he asked emphasizing the you to see why she would've sprung at him like that.

Nyumbani kept herself low to the ground, circling the juvenille, apparently not caring in the slightest about his 'sickly-sweet' persona.

"Wander somewhere else," she growled, the fur on the back of her neck raised. If he dared to go anywhere near her family she'd have his head. That was that.

"You don't belong out here." Her eyes were focused hard on his pelt, tail swishing from side to side in aggravation. She didn't appreciate 'wanders'. They caused trouble, and they weren't family. Anyone that wasn't related was dangerous.

However, it seemed, that everyone was related now. Almost everyone she'd met had some semblence of a gene link. It was starting to make her head ache.

She didn't bother answering his question. She didn't need to.

Gharadi tilted his head at her. Jeez, she wasn't friendly was she? I mean, all he was doing was wandering, out here no one had claim to anything right? He wasn't within any pride borders that he knew of. Strange, very strange. Why would she act like that towards him?

"I can wander where I wish," Gharadi said with a nod. He tried to be friendly, but if he had to have a little bit of an attitude, so be it, he wasn't going to be booted out of one area of the rogue lands because some head strong girl told him too. No one owned this part as far as he was concerned.

"I belong where I chose to be," he said with another nod.

She couldn't tell him where to go.

"You just go right on thinking that," she told him.

Time for the next stage in her part. He wasn't family, and he obviously wasn't dangerous, just stupid. It was now time to ignore him. For that was what Nyumbani did. Family was the only thing that mattered. Everybody else, stupid and a waste of time.

She plodded out a little ways into the grass and curled up, searching for anymore intruders. As long as he didn't venture too close to where she'd come from, he could do whatever he wanted, so long as he left her alone.

Gharadi watched as she walked around..."okay, this female is weird..." he mused as he began padding away from her, wandering around a bit before he looked at her, then peered to where she had emerged from. He wondered where she lived, where she came from, if there were others there that were just as strange as her.

It couldn't hurt to try and check.

Gharadi crouched down and started stalking that way, perhaps she wouldn't notice what he's doing...

Good. He was leaving. Nyumbani let out a sigh of relief and waited. She wanted to be sure that he was gone before heading back home.

Then he pressed her bottons. Every one of them, all at once. He crouched down, not unnoticed by her eyes. That send several alarm systems off in her brain. There was NO WAY he was getting away with anything.

She continued to watch him, and sure enough, he started venturing towards her homelands, with her family.

This time, she wouldn't say anything, and he'd get it, in the dirt.

She wheeled around and started to follow him, crouching just as low. Perhaps he'd notice her following him? Perhaps not. If he didn't, she'd flatten his face in the earth. If he did. Problem solved.

Gharadi flicked his tail as e pressed closer, peering around. No one seemed to be around here besides that girl, he peered back and didn't even see her. He smirked to himself, to she wanted to stalk him who was trying to just sneak away? He was going away now, why wasn't she leaving him alone?

He figured he'd play along, humor her, or something.

Girls are so strange...he thought as he kept going forward, but then he stopped, crouched down as low as he could, silently he turned around peering into the grass. If she was stalking him, then perhaps he could catch her eyes amongst the grass blades.

She followed him, sliding her paws in the dirt, careful not to make a sound. He seemed to be confused, unsure of whether or not to go down that path. Good, she'd make him nervous, until he felt to uncomfortable to stay.

That's when he wheeled around. She froze, natural instincts coiling up the muscles in her body. What on earth was he doing? But he didn't pounce at her, or even make a dangerous guesture. Instead, he looked at her through the grass. She was perfectly content to stare back.

"Keep away from my family," she told him simply. She wouldn't have him doing anything rash. Or she'd have to pin him into the sand and keep him there all night.

"Why would I hurt your family? Do you always label everyone as bad? DOn't you trust anyone?" Gharadi said back to her, peering at her eyes with his. All he wanted to do was have a good day today, but this girl was treating him like dirt! Who did she think she was? He took a step back, walking backwards now. He wanted to prove to her that he wasn't going to do anything bad, that she could trust him.

But he wasn't sure if it would work out or not.

He wondered if she did this to her friends.

"Because you're a lion. I've seen them rip apart those that aren't of their flesh and blood." She narrowed her eyes at him.

"Yes," she answered the next question, being completely honest. "Guilty until proven innocent." It was better to ask for forgiveness later than to come home to a dead family. She really didn't want to see that. Now that Tarajia was gone, and it was her fault, she had to be extra cautious.

"Only family," she answered the last question, eyeing him critically. "And my one friend." Mother would have been proud of her, she thought, becoming friends with a goddess like she had. Not that she'd known what it was at the time, but those wings were certainly interesting. She hoped to see her again someday.

"Are you running away, or what exactly?" she asked him, as he pedalled the opposite direction, but still watched her. Strange, strange boy.

Gharadi raised himself from the ground, stopped stepping back to where he was. She was weird, he flicked his tail and watched her. He'd hate to go home and find his mother dead, ripped to shreds, even more so if he went to see his sister and she was like that too.

"Do you really think I'd do something like that?"

It was an open ended question, why couldn't she trust others? Perhaps something bad had happened to her that made he extremely cautious...that would be quite terrible. "I wouldn't hurt anyone, unless they were going to hurt my family and friends...which would be nobody..."

"I don't know," Nyumbani retorted, looking a bit perterbed. "People lie." He wouldn't understand. She doubted that he had five damn sisters to take care of. One's that didn't know how to take care of themselves, and a mother to please. She'd be proud of Nyu protecting the family, and if she adolescent failed, it would be on the conscious for the rest of her life.

"I could hurt your family and friends," she told him. Not that she would, but she was simply telling him that she, as well, could not be trusted.

"People earn my trust, until then, I watch them." She was telling him a lot, but she couldn't see the harm. If he wasn't going to hurt anyone, it would give him justification for her actions.

If he was, now he had warning.

"Why are you so trusting?" she shot back, becoming aggravated again. There was nothing wrong with being suspicious.

"People may lie, but others tell the truth.." he said with a flick of his tail. He narrowed his eyes at her when she stated she could hurt his family and friends. He growled inwardly towards her, for he would not allow himself to do it openly. He would never forgive himself if anything happened to his sister, his mother. He had to become strong for them, so he could protect them.

He sighed, turned his eyes away from her for a moment, perhaps they were the same in the aspect that both wanted to protect family, even if Gharadi didn't know the details of everything. "I trust others in hopes that they trust me...I want to be a better lion...my family needs me to be a better lion...because...just...because."

She wouldn't understand if she knew why...

He turned his eyes back to her, watched her, "So how does someone earn your trust then?"
