I first started reading this series about two years ago and has been one of the few mangas which I have persistently followed since Love Hina. The story takes place in feudal Japan (what doesn't) and revolves around an orphan named Rin and her bodygaurd Manji, who is immortal due to worms in his body which were given to him by an old woman named Yaobikuni. The story starts off as Manji tries to attone for his sins by giving his sister Machi an easy filled life with no problems. Unfortunately, she is kidnapped and killed leaving Manji a bloody mess (he loses his left leg in the battle). From here, he goes out on a mission to remove the worms which grant him immortallity by killing one thousand "bad guys" in order to pay for the one hundred he killed to recieve the blood worms. Fortunately, he gets a job from Rin, who needs a bodygaurd to help her exact revenge upon a sword school called the Itto-ryu, a group of highly skilled and trained swordsman who killed her father when she was younger. And it is with this that they embark upon a quest not only filled with morals but of understanding and tears.

Yeah. They're expensive like crazy. Plus not many people go out of thier way to buy this one. For me, I just fell in love with the art and from there I've been hooked. Its my favorite managa next to Azumanga Daioh and Love Hina.

I like the series. It has a good plot and good characters. It's like Ruoni Kenshin, only with more gore and if Kenshin was immortal.

Ah. I absolutely honor Anotsu Kagehisa. HE is such a great character. He isn't a good guy and he isn't necessarily bad either. He is just himself. I love his duality on subjects and the effects his responsibilities cause on his soul.

I like the ninja guy. He fought manji in a swamp and used the environment to his advantage. Go cool looking smart guys.

In a way he is arrogant. He acts tough but than that was the way he was raised. Be the top dog through force and walk the walk instead of talking the talk. He was a big shot so yeah. I love him. Tres coolios.
And Magatsu Mago. You never really got into Blade.
