Jibanza took in the scent-laden air, and found herself padding forward instinctively, using her nose instead of her head for directions. There was talk of a large hare colony around... and Ban had, as many young pups do, willed herself to go there and catch some. She'd only just experienced the thrill of bloodlust a few moons ago... the frenzy of ripping and tearing flesh, and the excitement of the hunt.

So far, she'd been spoonfed by her parents at the Kingwa'Mbwa Packlands... but now, she was beginning to grow, beginning to shape into a young woman. She had grown larger, stronger, and found herself wanting to get away from family life a little more, to spread her wings.

So when her brothers had talked of a hare colony, she'd made up her mind that she was going to catch one, and take it back to the pack as a trophy.

She mindlessly continued on, hardly thinking of consequences, or who and what she would meet out on her journey.

Monifa raised her head. The adolescent lioness stood beneath a tree, her tail brushing agains the trunk as it swayed back and forth. She yawned faintly, azure eyes pressed onto the seemingly desotale scene around her. She only spotted the stray hare running across the grass here and there. Nothing more.

She didn't bother hunting them. She had eaten recently, and she wasn't really in the mood. She lioness sighed, pinning her ears back. How boring.

Her footsteps light and elegant, Moni walked out from under the tree and across the plain aimlessly.

Jibanza, on the other hand, trotted briskly, excitement running up and down her spine. She was, unlike Monifa, filled with anticipation of the upcoming hunt... she imagined the warm trickle of hare blood running down her throat, and at once felt the urge to kill give her new energy.
She picked up her pace, loping as fast as she could towards the area the scent came from. She could smell the distant scent of the hares in the distance... and, at once, found herself salivating, tongue flopping around from side to side as she ran.

Finally, she'd covered some ground.

'Almost there, almost there,' silently, she willed herself on, 'Then you can prove yourself as a warrior. Then, you'll be able to hunt.'

She'd be so proud. Her mother would be so proud. Even her brothers might be impressed. She continued on, and then a new scent hit her.

It was strange... she'd never come across this scent before. Well, she had, but it had been weaker. Passing lions, her mother had said.
Ban cautiously pulled to a stop, and lifted her muzzle to the air.

"Lion," she said, and crouched low. One of those brutes could take an eye out if you weren't careful. She looked about, and at last spotted a figure in the distance... coming towards her. A pretty lioness, bigger than herself. Ban pressed her ears back, suddenly wary... but then, very curious, too.

Monifa could not smell the other being. No, the wind was blowing in the opposite direction. The lioness, when she finally realized the wild dog, had heard her. At first, she didn't raise her head. It was nothing other than a hare, right? No, it seemed to loud to be a hare. Curious, the lioness raised her head, looking to the creature that was walking towards her.

Her steps stopped, her head tilting to one side. Ears perked and her tail swayed behind her.

"Hello" She called lightly, blinking.

As soon as Ban's purple eyes met Monifa's azure gaze, she knew she was safe, for the moment anyway. Still taking a small amount caution lest the lioness strike out, she cast the stranger a confused glance.

"H... hello," she muttered, greeting the lioness in return, "Uh.. uh... "

She was dumbstruck. What had a small juvenile wild dog to say to a large lioness? Slowly, she pressed back her ears, and stepped backwards.

"Aren't you?..." she paused, trying to muster the courage to speak, "Aren't you dangerous? Aren't you going to attack me, or something? My mother says that your kind are like scorpions... unpredictable and deadly."

She'd had a rough time with a scorpion once before. She couldn't imagine taking on a lion.
