Frantic movements over and over, his paws moving fast but careful as precious cargo remained still in his maw. Tears of blue, deep sadden blue, rolled down his fur and were whipped off by the wind. The large brown wild dog raced from the Mountain Range and straight across the South Lands, he had to get to the Pride Lands. His body ached from the harsh terrain he traversed just to get to where he was. His leg felt sprained, his heart ached, where was she? Tahu had disappeared as well. Kiangazi....he best be tending to the pups, what was he gonna do....Dhati, forgive me for my insubordinance. Temari...forgive me, our son may die.....

The large male stopped when the large rock structure of Pride Rock came into view. Good, his den was not too far now, just a little further. His chest raised and fell rapidly as he could hear his own heart racing in the same franticity that he had. Tears did not stop, they seemed endless as his head jerked left and right. Now where was it? Where was that den!? No words could be spoken, only his thoughts rang clear in his mind. In his maw was a small, shivering, slightly bloody though it blended in with his crimson fur, pup. His pup, his oldest son, his sick son.

No time to waste, he had to find that den.

-----

With a sigh, the large dog held the other close, trying to give his own warmth, all of it if he was able, to the little one. THe pup had been ill for days, weeks, even a month or two however, back then it was just a cough or a sneeze or just sniffles. But now...it had progressed much further and at the worst time. Temari...his mate and love just ran off out of the packlands, she had been acting strange and now...Jamaa was worried to no end and to add to it, Tahu, on of her sons ran off with her for whatever reason. He wished they were alright. Then the unimaginable. Ryega collapsed on the way back to the pack den, a speckle of blood dripped from his maw and a soft weezing nose from his body. He had recalled an old family folklore about this den was protected by the spirits that died in it's walls and comfort those inside, healing them. He was desperate, Ryega was his first born son and he would about anything right now.

His golden eyes glanced down at the little pup who laid sprawled beside him, breathing heavily with a hint of a weeze. Sudden he coughed with another speckle of blood, but this time more than before. It was getting worse now....Jamaa was frightened that he....he may die.

Carefully, the wild dog curled around him and pulled him close. His legs ached and his foot felt twisted, sprained, and broken all at once. What had driven him to run before was gone, they were where they had to be and so it was no more of a motivation. His breaths were sort and ragged. He was a mess, he cannot do this without her help. What had happen to that perfect family that he had invisioned all those years ago?

With a sigh and a deep painful breath, he rested his head upon his leg and closed his eyes. The last image was of the little, red pup.

Sukari skulked away from the pridelands, her wound fresh from that damn white wolf. Blood oozed out of Sukari's front left leg, angering her more. Her belly may have been full, but she had yet to find some canine that she could use. She would take any one.

They would make perfect servants; canines were the most loyal of beasts. Sukari grinned. She couldn't wait to get herself one. She wouldn't even have to hunt anymore.

And on the wind drifted a scent that made her hopes rise; the smell of an even bigger canine than the maned wolf. A wild dog. Many of them, actually. This would be her chance, and she wouldn't fail this time. Sukari took extra care in her approach, crouching low and slowly making her way to the den, keeping out of sight. Still, she had a long way to go.

Ryega coughed and weezed as his father rested beside him. His deep red body shook under his warmth, his shelter. For once, in his life, he felt protected and he welcomed the feeling gladly. He disliked his father for his overprotectiveness, but this level was just fine. He could feel something warm come from his maw. He had felt this before when he got a nosebleed, as his brother called it, when he hit his head against the ground from a trip. Ouch. Was this blood-maw?

Ryega slowly turned his head, strained from the drained energy and nuzzled his father.

"Dad?" he called, shaking the body. "Dad?"

Strange, he wasn't reply. Hmmm.... he must be sleeping. The other thought he had was rather impossible. Jamaa was a strong powerful male, he could not fall that easily. Besides, if he was gonna fall to anyone it was someone of his own blood. Well, that is what he always thought.

"Dad?"

He nuzzled, licking at his fur. No reply again. He was too tired to push on and just leaned against him. Hopefully, he'll wake up soon.

((Aww, is Jamaa dead? crying *snugs them both*))Weakness, surprise, fear... Sukari thought to herself as she krept closer. These were all ideal conditions for an ambush. And a steal. She could smell two in particular. An adult male, and a pup. Pups were even more ideal. She could nab it easily, and it'd be more impressionable. Perfect for what she was intending to do.

She was so close to the den... she lost herself in instinct. However, this wasn't the chase-trip-bite routine that was usual for a lioness to use when stalking. This was a sneak-grab-run. Even better if she could knock it out. She grinned at the thought as she sneaked around a corner to the den's front on silent paws. A red furball came into view, surrounded by a brown one. Perfect.

((No, he's just snoozin'))

Jamaa had a horrid habit of moving in his sleep. Even in the most comfortable and wanting position that one would dream of finding, he would turn into a sprawl and let his snore bellow out quietly. Even now his maw was ajar, his snoring came out freely. His face looked of content, without worry. Was this what Temari met that he looked cuter when he was asleep? It was funny.... His paw laid under Ryega who was pressed against his side. The little one sniffling now and again, coughing too. Hopefully, these old folklores actually worked for him, otherwise it was just another downhill illness for his son.

At the sudden movement of the adult, Sukari flicked her tail and ducked lower into the grass. She flattened her ears against her head and continued to move forward, lower and more carefully. The adult was asleep, but that didn't mean he could be taken lightly. Perhaps he was a light sleeper, perhaps a heavy sleeper. Whatever the case... She could easily kill him if he decided to wake.

She eyed the pup from where she was. He would make a fine specimen indeed. She was right at the side of the pair of them now, having snuck so silently. She reached out to grab the pup, pausing to listen to be sure they wouldn't wake. When she was sure, she bit the pup by the scruff and ran off, being as light-footed as she could while being fast. She went in the direction she came as fast as her legs would carry her, with the pup waggling back and forth in her jaws with her every stride.

Rain.
Lightning.
Thunder.

Matted fur, the rain and tears. Heavy, short breathes and panic-striken. Golden eyes looked all around, his right paw held up after being sprained, at least he hoped it was. His head jerked left and right with any thing that resembled a displaced sound. Where was he?! Where was he!? How could a sick pup wonder off!? He was ill, Ryega was not that stupid to wander off like that... He knew what was the smart thing to do.....

Jamaa could not stand it anymore. The pain, the worry, it just all piled upon itself and crushed him. He fell down into the mud and hung his head. He had lost Ryega, his son, his firstborn. How could he disappear? He was sleeping right beside him, how could he get away without much noise? Without him waking? Ryega was too sick to survive on his own, he would die without care. Where was he!?

Jamaa growled and pushed himself up and stood through his pain and kept on searching. His promise burned his determination. He told Temari that she would not lose anther, that he would never hurt her again. He'd rather die than go against his word. She had given him so much and he could give nothing in return but his love. He had to find Ryega. He will find him.
