Mbali had managed to find trust and maybe even love in Bari though it still confused him. He did care for her but yet he still felt sometimes as if he acted as more of a parent then a lover. It wasn't normal, it wasn't right.
He had found himself it seemed wandering, not anywhere in particular, just wandering. Trying to find some meaning to whatever it was he had in life. He was confused and tired. His two children he never saw and well, everything seemed to be so odd.
He felt useless.
He wanted to be a father but didn't have a clue how to be one and it seemed nothing would be right as he didn't have the relationship he was suppose to have with his daughter and his son.
He had failed as a father.

Contrary to how Mbali felt, Azhara was content with her family life. Perhaps she wasn't as close with them as she wanted to be, but she hardly felt like anyone had failed in the relationship. If anything, she felt like she should've been hanging around more... but how could she, when there were so many sights to see and so many adventures to experience?
Today she was chasing after a field mouse, not with the intention of eating it, but simply to have fun running. When he dove into a little hole in the ground, however, she stopped in her tracks and frowned. Well, that wasn't very fun, now, was it?
With a loud, dramatic sigh, she turned around, instantly trying to find something else exciting to do. Instead of an adventure, she found her father, and her eyes lit up. Imagine meeting him out here! "Hi, Daddy!" she squeaked, bounding towards him with her usual exuberance. "How're you? What you doing?" Her tail swished behind her and she nuzzled his chin. Even if they weren't particularly close, she had never been one to hold back on affection and physical contact.

Mbali was somewhat surprised by the appearance of his daughter but it brought a smile to his face, "I was thinking of my beautiful princess who seems to have found me." He chuckled a little and licked at her head carefully.
"How have you been my little princess?" He found himself talking as his father and mother had done to his silbings along with himself. He felt normal again, he smiled, at last he could be the father he should have always been.

Azzy grinned at him. "I'm not a princess, silly!" she said, her eyes sparkling affectionately. She knew what he meant, but it was fun to tease him. "That would make you a king and Mama a queen." She winked at him, reaching him to lick his cheek in return.
"I'm good!" she squeaked happily. "I was chasing a mouse but it got away." For a brief moment she frowned but brightened up again. "I'm sure I'll find something else to chase. Maybe even a butterfly! You know what, Daddy? The markings on your nose look kind of like a butterfly!"
She smiled sweetly at him, her blue eyes bright.

He laughed. "Did you not know that your mother is of royal blood though? She is the granddaughter of the king and queen of this pride and the granddaughter of the king and queen of the Pridelands." He chuckled as he smiled at his daughter, he hadn't heard news of Ari's death or the death of Mufasa and Sarabi.
He was proud of his daughter, so proud. She seemed to be so happy and carefree. "Maybe after you have finished chasing those which seem to escape I could take you to meet my father and all your aunts and uncles. You have a very big family Azzy!" He nudged her playfully trying to knock her over. Maybe he wasn't a bad father after all.

Azzy's eyes widened as he told her. "Really?" She had heard something about that one time, but she had been rather young and hadn't taken it to heart. "So... I'm the great-granddaughter of royalty?" She grinned brightly. "Wow, that's so cool!"
"Really? That would be fun, meeting all of the family!... Hey!" she squeaked as she toppled over, landing on the ground with a thud. The mottled female stumbled back onto her paws, fixing her father with her hardest of glares...
Or not. She couldn't hold back her usual grin and finally she gave in and giggled, flicking him with her tail. "Hey, not fair," she growled playfully, butting her shoulder against his. "See? Look! You're too big and I'm too little. But when I get bigger, I'm gonna get you, so you better watch out!"
Her eyes sparkled mischeviously.

Mbali couldn't help but laugh at his daughter she was just full of life and so vibrant and happy. It was something that made his heart leap for joy because at least she was happy without her parents.
"Yep so I can call you my little princess!" He chuckled and nudged her again. "I'm sure you could get me now if you wanted, you are clever enough to do so!" He chuckled bouncing away from her a little bit, a large smile on his face.
"Come on then, come and get me!" He flicked his tail behind him, his body tense and ready to jump again if his daughter did decide to run after him.

The juvenile grinned deviously at her father as he bounced away. So, that was how he wanted it to be? She could play at that game!
Azzy bounded forward, her eyes bright. "Okay, Daddy, I'm gonna getcha!" she called, sprinting towards him. Once she was only a few feet away, she darted to the side, circling around before attempting to pounce on his back.

He laughed at her and continued to run for a little while then he just dropped to the ground. He had laid down in hope that it would confuse or worry his daughter so give him long enough to jump back up and scare her. He was being playful with her but it was something that he felt was necessary for his daughters own good! It could help her with hunting one day!

Indeed, she didn't see that coming, and so she went soaring over her father, tumbling to the ground in a rather undignified fashion. When he leapt up, she squeaked and fell onto her back, her forepaws thrashing at the air. "Heeeey," she growled, though her eyes sparkled. "That was sneaky!"
After a moment, she added with a devious grin, "Will you teach me?"

Mbali chuckled as his daughter went on her first flying trip!
"It isn't hard but of course I will teach you!" He smiled and walked upto her, nudging her to stand up, "Its all about time and patience, you drop too soon or too late then it doesn't work!" He smiled down at his daugther. Oh she was so beautiful. He was ever so proud.

Patience? She thought about that. The cub was never the most patient, always on the go, ready for an adventure. But it was such a neat trick, she knew she had to at least try to master it.
"Okay!" Azhara said brightly, standing up and looking up at her father. For the first time she noticed just how much they looked alike, the only main difference being some of their colours. Now that she thought about it, a stranger probably wouldn't recognize her as Bari's daughter. It was a strange notion but one that didn't bother her too much. She knew who her mother was and that was the important thing.
"So, I just have to be quick? Like, be patient and then BAM! On the ground?"

Mbali nodded, "How about we give it ago. You go run off a little, then I will chase you and then you try and drop yeah?" He smiled at her his blue eyes watching her small beautiful. He loved his children so much!
He gave her a small nudge to get her moving and then waited. He wouldn't aim to land on her because he knew if he did he would probably squash her and neither of them would want that to happen!

Azzy nodded eagerly, her eyes glowing. "Yeah, okay, I'll try it!"
With that, she spun around and took off, her big paws carrying her as quickly as possible. Then, when she thought it might be a good time, she tried to stop. Unfortunately her forepaw caught on a rock and the cub went tumbling forward, loose dirt coating her fur.
"Oof," she groaned, flopping over onto her side. "That wasn't right, was it?"

Mbali laughed a little as she fell over and then went over to his daughter, nudging her, helping her to get back up again.
"No that wasn't right but you can always try again!" He smiled and walked off a little way so she could try again.
"Try to just drop, don't stop just drop!" He laughed a little and laid down watching her, his tail curling around his body. It was so nice to see that she was happy.
