I was wondering this after reading a fanfic with the same idea. Would Sesshoumaru still be the same if he were named something else. Imagine he still acts the same, looks the same, talks the same,... but his name is Bob or what not. What do you think?

I think I would still adore him, but wonder to myself, "Bob, really? Rumiko Takashi rocks, she certainly knows better than I do what to name her characters, but 'Bob'? Seriously?"

Gee, all this adoration... could go to a demon's head..
But Sesshomaru is a "perfect circle of destruction" literally and let's be honest, how could a demon as wonderful as Sesshomaru -knowing what his name means- be anything but Sesshomaru!

Well, if his name changed it would be by the author because what if they never like the name 'Sesshomaru' and names him somthing like... MARK or WILL! Or worse.... FRED!!!!

Every character in the anime/manga's name means something specifically translated from Japanese to English:
Sesshomaru= perfect circle of destruction
InuYasha= dog demon
Miroku (although spelled slightly differently)= fascination
Sango = coral, and also refers to after birth
Kohaku = amber
Naraku= hell/hades
kanna= plane-something that shaves things off other things
kagura= shinto dancer
shippo= animal's tail
jaken=hard hearted or cruel
Rin= companion
Kagome=mirror/mirror image
