This thread's for Tortured and Cuter's use only, please <3
If you feel impelled to join in, please PM one of us first! n_n Daray was bored.
He had already eaten his fill of grass, apples, sugar, and berries for the day (who knew he could get bored of eating?), taken his afternoon nap, and ran around until he feared his heard would fail from exhaustion. Yet he was still restless. He hated feeling restless.
He continued to trample his way through the snow in search of finding something to do, then paused as he noticed the hoofprints he left behind in the snow. Dragging one hoof, he watched as it made a long indented streak in the snow, almost like drawing a picture.
"How amusing." he thought to himself, and began to make funny images as best he could with his orange and black hoof.

Midori sighed as she looked around, squinting. She wouldn't admit it. She couldn't. Though she had never been here before, she still wouldn't admit the fact. The know-it-all mare was, indeed, lost. Cursing under her breath, the "poisonous" mare continued to squint as she spotted something on the ground. "Footprints!" Whispering this singer word, she grinned, following them.

Humming a nameless tune to himself, Daray continued drawing patterns, shapes, and wobbly figures in the snow. He made large circles around where he stood, little images of Nos and Jean (which he afterwards quickly found glee in stomping on), and, of course, attempted to draw pictures of apples and berries.
He laughed and began to run, watching the footsteps inevitably catch up to where he was going, and foolishly tried to outrun his own footsteps, careless and unaware of what direction he was going in. Had he been paying any heed to where he was heading, he would have spotted the green and black mare slowly approaching in the distance.

Picking up her pace, Midori continued to squint as she made out the imprints of hooves in the bright snow. Her ears twitched as she heard something. Stopping abruptly, she looked up, appearing as if she were a deer in headlights. Making out a form of another Soquili, she quirked a curious brow. "That's interesting..." She tilted her head, confused as to why somebody would be out so late. Then again, why was she out so late? Lowering her brow, she slowly approached the stallion.

Still laughing to himself, Daray fixated his hooves to begin running directly behind one another, trying to hop his way into making his hooves create one straight line of hoofprints. He pitied any creature, horse or otherwise, that found his trail, for it would definitely be one big mess of confusion.
Trampling his way through parts of untouched snow, he managed to snag a rock with his hoof, and having been trying to balance himself into a tight-rope walking style of trot, he soon found himself teetering, and then tripping his way down face first into the snow.
A rush of cold wetness hit his muzzle and he winced, his eyes remaining shut so as not to get any snow in them. He struggled to regain his footing and raise himself back up, and that's when he opened his eyes to see her.
He let out a yelp of surprise as he opened his eyes to see a jet-black and neon green mare looking down at him oddly. Very surprised and very startled, Daray fumbled and found himself face down in the snow once again.

The mare blinked, restraining laughter. "Are you alright?" Not that she cared, but she might as well ask and seem concerned. She looked down at him carefully, her neon eyes reflecting the bright snow. "May I ask what exactly you were attempting to do?" Giggling lightly, she shook her head. This would, indeed, prove to be interesting. She flipped her mane to the other side of her neck, a black strand landing on the male.

Daray winced. How embarrassing could it possibly get? At least this mare was the only one to see his not-so-graceful fall.
He grunted and struggled back up to his feet, ignoring the tickle her mane caused to his nose. He twitched his notrils and snorted.
"I'm doing just fine, thank you." He huffed back, straightening himself up. "And for your information, I was leading any predators off of my trail. Confusion is a great tactic when you're keeping lions and kalonas away."
Raising his head up, he stuck his nose in the air proudly, trying to shrug off his little 'fall' as if it had been planned from the beginning. He was grateful, though, that he had a naturally dark coat of fur. If it wasn't for its coal colored, the strange mare would have seen his cheeks flustered in humiliation.
Snorting, his orange eyes gazed up and down, looking her over in curiousity. "Besides... what are you doing around here this late anyways? Don't you know it's dangerous out here after dark?"

Midori simply nodded. "Of course you were." She clenched her teeth together, but was unable to stop it. A giggle passed her teeth, a smirk playing across her lips. The smirk, however, quickly vanished as he asked here what se was doing out so late. But, luckily for her, she was quick-minded. "I was about to ask you the same thing. I was simply hungry and looking for something sweet." Nodding, she spotted a blueberry bush, gently pulling a few of the frozen berries from it.

Daray glared at her giggling and watched the tell-tale smile spread across her face. Pawing his hoof against the snow, he snorted, his breath coming out as whisps of steam against the cold night air.
"Something sweet, eh?" He grunted, turning around to watch her n** the berries off the bush. "You got up in the middle of the night and wandered out into the middle of nowhere for some berries?"
He gave her an incredulous look as one eyebrow raised in curiousity. "Those must be some mighty tasty berries."

Midori flicked her tail, slightly annoyed. She raised a cunning brow at him. "Why, yes, they are. What are you doing up and about at such an hour?" She examined him closely in the pale light. Her eyesight wasn't one of her strengths. Teasingly brushing her flank against his, she gently tugged on a strand of his mane. "Surely a stallion such as you wouldn't be out here playing in the snow all by himself, would he?" Grinning, the mare stared into his eyes, a stare so cold it could send shivers down the spine of the strongest, bravest stallion. "Unless, of course, that stallion didn't think anybody else would be out at such an hour. Hmm?" She broke the stare, waiting for a reaction.

He watched her walk towards him, her own eyebrows raised, and shuddered as she barely brushed up against him. He didn't know why, but for some reason, this new mare was different.
Daray yanked his mane away as she tugged on it, irritated himself. "I wasn't playing around," he grumbled, his eyes refusing to meet hers. "I told you. I was using defense tactics against predators! And, for your information, I was out for a midnight stroll... stallions like me don't have to worry about any silly danger like kalonas or dragons or lions."
Puffing out his chest, he finally allowed his bright orange eyes to meet with her glowing green ones. This new mare... she was beautiful, but scary for some reason. Why did simply looking into her eyes make him nervous?

Midori thought for a moment about what he had said. "If stallions like you don't need to worry about silly danger like Kalonas, dragons, or lions, why, exactly, were you using defense tactics against predators?" She grinned as she noticed him shudder. "Something wrong?" Blinking to brake the gaze, she stated, "Silly me. I've forgotten to introduce myself. I'm Midori. May I inquire your name?" Batting her eyelashes, she giggled lightly.

Daray could feel his cheeks flushing as they heated up. This mare was definitely smarter than he took her for, and he was beginning to regret opening his mouth from the start.
"I..." he stuttered, "I was planning on throwing off the predators just for fun. That's right... it's because I like to watch lions and kalonas get mislead and wander around like idiots, thinking they're so cool and mean."
"Phew!" he thought to himself, smiling pridefully at Midori, "That was a close save!"
"My name?" He asked, echoing her question. "My name is Daray. It's nice to meet you, Midori... I think?"
He wasn't used to meeting mares like this new Midori. Most of them didn't ask so many questions... maybe that's why she was making him flustered. Even with his Aita, he never felt this tongue-tied and flustered. This was a strange mare indeed.
"What's that sign on your rump mean?" He blurted out, unable to hold his tongue any longer. "It looks... strange."

Midori grinned, knowing better. Nonetheless, she could see he was getting flustered and decided to give him a break. "Of course you were. I should have known." She held back a giggle and nodded. "Likewise, Daray." Trying the new name, she nodded. Easy to remember, short, and only one word. She liked it.
Looking at her rump, she grinned. "Strange, indeed. It means poison. It's something that two-leggers put on things to warn them not to go near them, or come in contact with them. Do you wish you'd have known what my symbol meant prior to meeting me, Daray?" Raising a curious brow, she blinked, her glowing eyes finally adjusting to the dim light.

It felt weird having his name being said aloud. He could go on for days not hearing it and wouldn't care. Shrugging it off, he tried to give her an 'I-could-care-less' look as he flicked his tail to one side.
"I knew what it meant, I was just reconfirming my assumptions, that's all." He replied arrogantly. "And like I said before... I'm not scared of any silly danger. Poison is only dangerous if you mishandle it."
His mouth finally broke a grin, and he strutted around her, taking his turn to examine the new Soquili. He liked how her mane and tail intertwined the two colors black and green in such a similiar way as his own orange and black hair. Even though they were strangers with names to one another, it still gave him a sense of connection to this new mare, having similar features to her own.
"Having already known what your symbol meant to begin with, it really doesn't affect me, having met you." He said, being more careful at how he phrased his words. Mentally, however, he wondered what she meant by her statement. Was this Soquili physically poisonous? Or did she just mean it in a figurative sense?
Not knowing the answer, Daray made sure to keep his physical distance away from the mare as he continued looking at her features, finally coming to a stop directly in front of her.
