For most metal and ingenres thereof I use my finger and for funk and some other genres I use slap smile . Also, for my little solos I use tapping style smile

I slap, finger, and pluck. I also do an teeny tiny bit of a tap infused pluck. it's like slapping but you do it with your left hand while you're playing on the fingerboard. I'm not too sure how well I can get that to work for my music, but it sounds pretty awesome.
Basically it works like this: As you tap a string, higher up on the fret board (Around the 3rd or 4th fret) You use your pinky to pluck another string... (Yeah, it takes some practice... and it sounds horrible at first, but after some practice, you can create a really cool and freaky style all your own!)
I think my drug prevention program isn't working...

Hmm well I use a bunch of different styles in several situations. My main techniques that consist of fingerstyle, slap, double thump, very rarely a pick(I dislike the sound), tapping and harmonics.

I used to hate it, but now I have this fancy pick that wraps around my thumb so i don't have to hold a pick awkwardly. It was for my dad's lap guitar but I stole it xp .

I use finger style with my first 2 fingers, sometimes 3.
I slap when needed.

Sometimes I'll play with a pick, but I prefer fingerstyle...
Although I'm not very good with it yet.
But I'm working on it. <3

I was really worried when I saw the title to this thread.
I mostly fingerpick. When my fingers are absolutely torn up or just really really tired, I'll sometimes use a pick, but in general I don't believe in picks.

I like the lower, thumpier sound that you get from playing with your fingers. Picks give it a more pronounced, twangy sound.

I was horrified and almost died, I was playing along with Iron Man, and boy did I ******** up that song........You could hear me trying to stop my bass from hitting the ground...All is well though.
I use a Fingerstlye and when I play rpck if I don't have a pick I make my finerstyle sound like a p[ick by playing more with my tips. I tap and slap whenever I want to, most of my playing is partially tapping with my left hand because I don't have to move my fingers most of the time. Picking only when my right hand is hurt or I don't feel like moving my fingers up and down the strings that fast, I find picking is too easy there's no challenge, but to pla fingerstyle to rock songs, that's hard.

I mostly use my three fingers alot of the time. other times i use two finger, thats for alot of speed metal where when i play with a pic i cant get enough speed, i rarly ever play with a pic, theres alot of slapping and popping along with my style as well. some tapping, and some fret bored picking with my nails.

It's my opnion that you arn't a real bassist if you use a pick. Picks are for guitars. Nothing against you, but I don't like that psudo-slap sound you get from playing with a pick. It sounds half-assed. That's just me. ...Yeah, I play with my fingers.
